If you could only ever have one which would it be? I’m going for baby carrots. Disclaimer I’m not vegan or vegetarian, I just love veg

Benidorm I don’t think anyone has salted an aubergine in 30 years, it is a myth that it stops aubergines being bitter (they aren’t anyway) My current top veggies are aubergine, cabbage and baby kale.

BabyDarlingDollfaceHoney · 04/03/2019 05:53

Aubergines used to be bitter and waterlogged but they've changed them and now they don't need salting. They did used to need it.

donquixotedelamancha · 04/03/2019 06:22

I think tomatoes are the most versatile veg
I’m also a big fan of mushrooms

Since we are just naming random foods, can I have rib-eye steak as my favourite vegetable?

Myfoolishboatisleaning · 04/03/2019 06:30

But they are both (culinary) vegetables. So no.

Bubba1234 · 04/03/2019 06:40

Potatoes

donquixotedelamancha · 04/03/2019 07:04

But they are both (culinary) vegetables.

In what sense? One isn't even a plant.

newmumFeb17 · 04/03/2019 07:09

Can't believe no one has said parsnips yet... yum

Treaclesweet · 04/03/2019 07:11

I'm on the cabbage train (toot toot). So delicious, so versatile!

lottielady · 04/03/2019 07:46

I can’t believe nobody has said cauliflower!

Lightly steamed.
Fab in a curry.
Lovely and peppery raw.
Gorgeous in cheese sauce.
Tossed in Garam Masala, olive oil and salt and roasted.

Love me a cauli.

Pengling · 04/03/2019 07:54

Courgette for me, although I suppose technically also a fruit. So versatile!

Ffsnosexallowed · 04/03/2019 07:56

Cauliflower without a doubt

Believability · 04/03/2019 07:56

I can’t get the cauliflower hype, it’s so tasteless and powdery. For me, red pepper, sugar snaps or broccoli

BabyDarlingDollfaceHoney · 04/03/2019 07:58

Reading this thread just reminds me how much I love all veg!

Lungelady · 04/03/2019 08:00

I love every vegetable apart from parsnips...too sweet.
Broad beans fresh from the garden or swede/turnips

MaudesMum · 04/03/2019 08:05

I've become a great fan of celeriac recently - celeriac chips dunked in mayo are my new best thing!

Penguinandbear · 04/03/2019 08:11

I love cabbage - including pickled red cabbage and cabbage with a Sunday roast. My great aunt used to make pickled red cabbage, and the most lovely cakes and have dried flowers hanging up all round her beautiful cottage and garden and I was totally in love with that as a child.

DH said cabbage is the vegetable of peasants and only peasants should eat it when we met but he has since acknowledged the error of his ways and is now a fellow cabbage lover.

JaceLancs · 04/03/2019 08:14

Brussel sprouts

MissSingerbrains · 04/03/2019 08:23

Tomatoes, so versatile and delicious.

And bog off with your fruit nonsense! It’s used as a vegetable so meh! No tomatoes in my fruit salad 🙄

Closely followed by carrots and sweetcorn.

I like all veg apart from celery, which should be banned.

Penguinandbear · 04/03/2019 08:32

I agree tomatoes should be classified as a vegetable and I am unclassifying onions as a vegetable instead so I can have onion rings, pickled onions, fried onions, red onion as well. 😻

Hazlenutpie · 04/03/2019 08:34

Sweetheart cabbage, I luffs it.

mydogisthebest · 04/03/2019 08:40

It's difficult because I love all veg but I think spinach is my favourite. Spinach curry, spinach lasagne, spinach pizza yum

BlueMerchant · 04/03/2019 08:43

Has to be the garden pea.

Thurmanmurman · 04/03/2019 09:11

Runner beans

whitetoblerone · 04/03/2019 09:16

@Justagirlwholovesaboy thank god you said sweetcorn!

Corn on the cob is the best form!

Also a fan of lots of veg, don't like green beans but pretty much love everything else!

Itsallokusually · 04/03/2019 09:54

I like all veg except okra, which are slimy inside.
