To think being slim should be normal for most people.

By slim i mean sizes 8 to 12.

Obviously you get a minority who are not in this range naturally but for 80% of people this size should be natural, say they eat a reasonable diet of between 2000-3000 calories.

Im so sick of people at work making out i am abnormally thin for being a size 10. I watch what I eat but dont deprive myself. The same people making me out to be lucky to be slim eat fried chicken or pizza for lunch and seem to be able to demolish a whole pack of biscuits at 3 o clock.

Aibu to think that the normal human man/woman should be a size 8-12 and that to attain or maintain this does not require super human discipline or strength.

HelenaDove. Because they’ve already clarified that actually they do eat more than they first said which kind of proves my point doesn’t it?

sizzledrizz · 03/03/2019 21:13

Shaming anyone because of their body size, looks, age, gender, clothing choices etc is disgusting.
I've had my fair share.
But I also have friends who are size 14ish, and the vitriol is horrendous. Being skinny shamed or whatever is almost held up as something to be proud of, it must be surely because people are so willing to moan about it as soon as it happens. Where as my friends of larger than size 12 hide it, and feel embarrassed and too afraid of being judged by mocking eyes to bring it up.

namechangedforanon · 03/03/2019 21:16

LOL "they eat a reasonable diet of between 2000-3000 calories"

So I am a curvy 14-16, with a 34G chest, slim waist and a big bum.

My BMR = the calories to fuel my day to day living without gaining or losing are 1900....

PortiaCastis · 03/03/2019 21:16

You know what, I'm a recovering anorexic because of a smug fat shamer so yeah get to fuck, if you know what it's like to be 4 stone you wouldn't be posting such smug bollocks and upsetting other posters

penisbeakers · 03/03/2019 21:16

Oh do fuck off.

onthenaughtystepagain · 03/03/2019 21:17

I think that an IQ in excess of 130 should be the norm and the ability to post a comment without having to resort to foul anglo-saxisms, but I won't hold my breath.

Joebloggswazere · 03/03/2019 21:17

Yeah of course OP, it’s that fucking easy.

If it were that easy, everyone would be slim. We all know we have to eat less/eat healthy and move more, it’s the mental side lies the problem.

Seline · 03/03/2019 21:19

You might look slim in your clothes, but bet you look shit naked with a diet like that. There, said it.

How horrible

Dorsetdays · 03/03/2019 21:20

Joebloggs. I’m not sure everyone does actually understand what healthy eating means, you’d be amazed at what some people think is ‘healthy’ or what a healthy portion size is.

Dorsetdays · 03/03/2019 21:21

Seline. Agree, and totally inaccurate too as that poster clearly didn’t actually read what the OP said and now looks a bit of a knob! 😂

And if it were that easy weight loss wouldn't be a multi-billion dollar industry. Whoever manages to bottle long-term willpower and endless motivation will end up being richer than Croesus.

museumum · 03/03/2019 21:24

Ahahahahahaha. I would be HUGE if I ate 2000 calories a day! And I run 3x a week and cycle about town.

Dorsetdays · 03/03/2019 21:29

Supine. The weight loss industry is such for exactly that reason! Because people want the easy option, they want shakes or soups that mean they don’t have to cook healthy meals themselves or count calories or they want someone else to tell them what to eat for breakfast, lunch and dinner because then they don’t have to think about it or take responsibility for planning their meals.

Totally get it, but it’s short term because the only way to keep the weight off is to change your lifestyle not follow fad diets that mean you put it all back on the minute you return to ‘normal eating’.

StarlightIntheNight · 03/03/2019 21:31

I have to say, that its not impossible to have children and stay a size 10. Ive got two dc and am size 10. A lot of people lack self discipline and don't walk/exercise enough. Its a sensitive subject, which is why so many people are getting worked up over what you wrote. I get it, society is getting bigger...too many people are just eating junk and not understanding the consequences. I too eat junk sometimes...however, I also walk a lot and I am active. I take the kids to the park, I do not own a car or take public transport much (bc I prefer walking everywhere). I eat what I want, but I do not over eat it. Pizza, fries, crisps, chicken nuggets etc are a regular part of my diet. But I do not over eat. I am also blessed I guess, as I know my friends struggle to stay the same size and stick to salads more often.

Many people are not blessed with good metabolisms. But there are also a lot, who could be slim if they did not over eat and walked everywhere....but these days people get less exercise and more food.

esk1mo · 03/03/2019 21:33

you seem to have hit alot of nerves OP Wink

Ivegotthree · 03/03/2019 21:35

I agree with your point OP. When I was young it was rare to see a fat person. Now there are grossly overweight people on every street or bus.

Supine · 03/03/2019 21:38

DorsetDays, yes the weight loss industry is shakes, and pills, and soups. It's also countless books on the latest diet, it's M&S Count the Difference meals, it's Dr Michael Mosley, it's Tom Kerridge's latest healthy eating series on the BBC, it's weekly Weight Watchers classes, it's hypnotherapy, it's so many things beyond quick fixes and easy solutions for lazy fat people.

Supine · 03/03/2019 21:40

Some slim people seem to think they inhabit a position of moral superiority as opposed to their flabbier brethren.

Dorsetdays · 03/03/2019 21:43

Yes because M&S ready meals and diet books aren’t a quick fix? My point is that the industry makes so much money because people want to be told what a healthy meal looks like rather than have to work it out for themselves.

I get it, it’s just that when that fad is over it’s too easy to go back to how you ate before and all the weight goes back on because you haven’t actually educated yourself and therefore can’t do it on your own.

It’s why so many people ‘yo-yo’ diet. I’m just saying it’s not about quick fixes, it’s so much better to educate yourself and change your lifestyle by incorporating exercise etc because that’s what will sustain a weight loss and then ontonue to maintain it.

Agree.
Stop eating "sludge".
You need to be able to chew a mouthful for around 20 to 25 seconds.
This starts the digestive process.
Eating highly precessed and refined foods interrupts the natural process, means stuff is in your intestine for a lot longer than in earlier years and causes problems.

YourSarcasmIsDripping · 03/03/2019 21:51

Stop ThanksThanks

StopMakingAFoolOutofMe

“Good diet” was completely the wrong phrase, sorry - I meant more along the lines of I was surprised that these two foods were not causing irritation if you have a bowel issue as they are both so completely processed, and my mother has issues with digestion and it’s always processed foods which set her off. So I couldn’t see from THAT point of view why those particular foods would be helpful.

WendyCope · 03/03/2019 21:53

Hmm do you have a problem with your pancreas? I am so sorry Flowers You seem so angry/

I really think wotsits and Jaffa cakes aren't the way forward. Salad and protein would help you.

Really hope you feel well soon .
