To not go to friends wedding tomorrow...I'm the bridesmaid

sillyandsally · 01/03/2019 19:05

I had a baby 3 months ago and she isn't sleeping on a night at all.
I'm lucky if I get 2 hours sleep.
I'm exhausted to a point I feel sick.
My friends wedding tomorrow and I'm bridesmaid but I know tonight I will be lucky to get even 3 hours sleep so I'm going to be in no fit state.
I feel so sick and exhausted with tiredness.
Aibu to tell her I can't go?
The wedding is at 1pm but she wants me over at 9am for makeup and hair.
I don't know what to do

SauvingnonBlanketyBlanc · 02/03/2019 09:31

dustarr73 · 02/03/2019 09:31

Ah op im delighted you decided to go.I really hope you have a lovely day

DontCallMeCharlotte · 02/03/2019 09:32

Have a good day OP and keep this PP's very good advice in mind if you're flagging Smile

As for tomorrow and the immediate challenge of being bridesmaid; How about trying to reframe tomorrow in your mind as a day off? Think about the positive aspects; some pampering, no cooking, a bit of physical freedom from baby for a few hours and allow yourself to have that day. You deserve a rest and it could prove to be just what you need in some ways xxx

rainbowstardrops · 02/03/2019 09:33

I'm glad you're going and hope you enjoy it

ineedaholidaynow · 02/03/2019 09:36

Hope you have a lovely day OP. Try and have a rest before the ceremony so you will be refreshed.

CleanAndPaidFor · 02/03/2019 09:37

Well done OP. Enjoy the day and next week think about ways of trying to get some extra support.

needsahouseboy · 02/03/2019 09:38

You will have more fun than you think and the break away from being a mum and being around people will be more energising than you think.

Hope you have a good day.

MissKittyBeaudelais · 02/03/2019 09:39

Just go. Otherwise it’s the end of your friendship. Hoping you’re there now, in hair and makeup!

WhentheRabbitsWentWild · 02/03/2019 09:41

The OP has already stated she is going .

Good on you SillySally, have a good day (I'm sure you will once you are at your friends)

minmooch · 02/03/2019 09:41

@sillyandsally I talked about my son just to empathise with exhaustion. And to show understanding of that panic of not sleeping.

You will get past this stage, your baby will eventually get in to a sleep routine. It's hellish going through it though, especially on your own. You're doing great!

WhentheRabbitsWentWild · 02/03/2019 09:41

Oops SillyandSally

HoraceCope · 02/03/2019 09:42

enjoy the day op, go easy on the prosecco Grin

NotTheFordType · 02/03/2019 09:42

Sorry to hear you bowed to societal pressure.

Please do not drink alcohol as you will fall asleep pretty much immediately.

Hopefully you can piss off home immediately after the ceremony. Or the photos. Or the bit where everyone goes "yay" as the bride and groom walk into the reception.

EstrellaDamn · 02/03/2019 09:43

Well done OP!

Just think; this time next year you'll be posting on here about the time you were exhausted, and pulled out all the stops for your best friends wedding. You'll be so encouraging to someone who is where you are right now.

Have a lovely, lovely day. Thanks

onlyjustmillenial · 02/03/2019 09:44

This is great OP, I am rooting for you Smileyou'll have a lovely day xx

AWishForWingsThatWork · 02/03/2019 09:48

Don't over do the prosecco; it'll make you more tired in the long run of the day.

Have a lovely time.

CoralandTeal · 02/03/2019 09:49

Get your husband to take the night shift and suck it up and go to the wedding!!! If one of my bm's flakes the day before my wedding I would end the friendship 100%. We've all had kids and have tired days but that's no excuse. Take a nap between getting ready & the ceremony if you need to.

sandgrown · 02/03/2019 09:51

Have a great day OP . Well done for getting there x

MrsElijahMikaelson1 · 02/03/2019 09:52

Well done OP-at least today is a grown up day-you get to relax and not think about your baby for a wee while as grandparents have stepped up. Enjoy the day!

userxx · 02/03/2019 09:54

@CoralandTeal Have you actually read the thread. Before being so judgemental maybe you should.

MinisterforCheekyFuckery · 02/03/2019 09:57

Jesus Christ, 20 pages in and people are still telling OP to get her non-existant DP to do the night shift. RTFT people! She's going to the wedding!!

Have a lovely baby free day OP Flowers

legoqueen · 02/03/2019 10:01

Hope you have a great day OP, these early days are so hard especially with no support. Enjoy Flowers

RockyFlintstone · 02/03/2019 10:02
