New lodger taking over my house!!!

Ahhh not sure if I'm being unreasonable as my last lodger kept himself very to himself and I know I was lucky.

New lodger moved in Saturday, but I was away.

He is taking over my house!!

  • has installed a doorbell with alarms all over the house without asking me
  • keeps his bedroom door open whilst blaring out rubbish heavy metal music
  • has filled all available work spaces with protein and supplements and squeezed my stuff onto a tiny shelf
  • stays up until the early hours watching tv in he living room and refusing to turn it down.
  • kept his keys in the door so that when I got home from work I was locked out, as he was in the shower.

I've just been sitting quietly eating dinner and he has come in and turned on the TV and started watching something.

AIBU here? And if I'm not how do I tell him where the boundaries are?

This is why "Off you fuck, Cuntychops" was invented.

AutumnCrow · 26/02/2019 20:20

He probably won't pay his rent either.

Ginger1982 · 26/02/2019 20:20

What is wrong with you? Grow a pair! It's your house!

ApolloandDaphne · 26/02/2019 20:20

Has he signed any contracts? If not get rid right now before you become more resentful and angry.

Historydweeb · 26/02/2019 20:21

God this sounds like my ex... his name doesn't begin with letter D does it?

'You need to put some of your protein shakes in your room.'

'No'

'Well if you don't I will have to ask you to leave'

That's how that conversation went yeah?

eddielizzard · 26/02/2019 20:23

I'd give him notice. He sounds awful.

Cherrysoup · 26/02/2019 20:23

You don’t have to give notice to lodgers, I think. He’s refused to move stuff and is blaring music? He’d be gone!

Alsohuman · 26/02/2019 20:24

Kick the bugger out.

Thehop · 26/02/2019 20:25

Evict!!! For goodness sake!

Merchantgirl · 26/02/2019 20:26

Get a friend to be with you if need be when you tell him, I think lodgers only need a week notice don’t they?

Bluestitch · 26/02/2019 20:26

I was going to say give him notice but after reading your latest post I'd just tell him to leave immediately and I'd return any money he's paid just to get him out as quickly as possible. Do you have anyone who can be there too for support in case he refuses to leave?

BoomBoomsCousin · 26/02/2019 20:27

stays up until the early hours watching tv in he living room and refusing to turn it down.

Why wasn't this the point at which you said "You're no longer welcome here. You will have to find somewhere else to sleep from tomorrow night." ?

SaucyJack · 26/02/2019 20:28

Just get rid.

If I was being generous I’d say he doesn’t understand the difference between a lodger and a flatsgare- but meh. Not your problem.

Sexnotgender · 26/02/2019 20:30

He sounds like a dick! Get him out.

bungleZippy12 · 26/02/2019 20:30

I genuinely don’t understand how you can possibly think you’re BU and secondly, why you wouldn’t just tell him it’s not working and he needs to leave?

SlangBack · 26/02/2019 20:30

Is he young?

AfterSchoolWorry · 26/02/2019 20:30

Out.

mummmy2017 · 26/02/2019 20:31

Do you need the money he gives you, or can you do without it till you get someone else?
If you need the money , get a bag, fill it full
of his protein drinks knock on his door and
say you are a lodger not the house owner either keep these in your room , and turn the music download or move out.
Close his door, as you walk past, and remove the door bells, tell him here I don't like these.
Get some help from friends if need be if you decide he has to move out.

bungleZippy12 · 26/02/2019 20:31

This ^

DoctorDread · 26/02/2019 20:32

God he sounds awful. Tell him to go for sure

TheHodgeoftheHedge · 26/02/2019 20:32

Seriously?!
Grow some fuxking balls and kick the bastard out. Right now!!!

AlexaAmbidextra · 26/02/2019 20:33

Do you think he’d be doing this if you were 6’4”, 18st and male? Hmm. Just tell him to leave your house.

Dreamzcancometrue · 26/02/2019 20:33

OP your as soft as candy floss. I would get rid of him the moment he started all that nonsense in my own home. If he is making you feel uncomfortable you have every right to evict. Dont feel guilty at all.. Just reclaim whats rightfully yours as it looks like he is trying to take over your home.
