To think my DH should shower more often

Myself and DH are both retired so do not have to get up and get ready for work. However, I’m really fed up with my DH personal hygiene routine. He only showers about once every six days and in my opinion this isn’t often enough.
I have nagged him about it so many times but he just doesn’t seem to understand why I am nagging him.
I shower every day and cannot understand anyone who doesn’t shower or have a bath several times a week, even if not every day. I think it is just laziness on his part, as he doesn’t do very much during the day.
I’m at my wit’s end to know what to do to get him to improve on his personal hygiene.

Mine all live out so no pissy beds and I don't ride so no sweaty hair. Anyway, I haven't had a shower since Friday so it's time to hit the water :)

Fazackerley · 26/02/2019 07:55

Oh ok that sounds the way to do it tbh Grin

ChakiraChakra · 26/02/2019 07:57

I love that this thread has turned into horsemanship 😁

Fazackerley · 26/02/2019 08:00

Mine are constantly covered in dried mud which goes everywhere when grooming, in my face and anywhere not covered. I'd be rank if I didn't shower daily

ChakiraChakra
I know! Doesn’t really help with my original problem tbh

Problem is easily solved, as I mentioned earlier, throw a bucket of cold water of him and make it clear he will get the same again every time he let's it go more than 3 days without washing. I wasn't joking, that's 100% what to do if talking isn't working.

Ilovemypantry · 26/02/2019 13:04

Lightofday
That really is a great idea but practically I’m not sure how I would do it...don’t really want a bucket of water all over my carpet or kitchen floor!

"Hon, go out and wash the windows for me, my back is playing me up under they need washed'. Then when he steps out 'here's the first bucket of water' wooosh " You needed a wash too. And if you don't buck up your ideas about personal hygiene, you'll be getting bucket baths every day from now on'. Don't take any snash.

Lightofday · 26/02/2019 13:32

*and they need washed

Channel your inner Nora Batty.
xD

Ilovemypantry · 26/02/2019 15:17

Lightofday I love your thinking but not sure I would be alive long enough to report back on here about how that went lol

Ah, well yes, thats completely fairy nuff!

If something's getting you filthy yes. Sorry, I was talking just run of the mill day, no involvement with muck, or dust from brushing off muddy horse!

Also, your hair gets full of the dust on a day like today. It's a dirty job, but someone's gotta do it!

Do you not groom then? Permently turned out native ponies? Not exercised out of the fields?

Smotheroffive · 26/02/2019 19:26

Have you issued a towel, I think it should be white and leave him to replace it and perhaps he will see how filthy it gets?

I hope he wears night clothes, and changes them regularly?!

Ilovemypantry · 26/02/2019 20:23

Smotheroffive
native ponies, exercised out of the fields? Are we still talking about my DH here? 🤔

OP posts:
Fazackerley · 26/02/2019 20:27

No, she's talking about horses. I don't think your dh warrants absolutely every single post to be about him tbh. Horses are far more interesting than a bloke who likes the smell of his own ming.

Cherrysoup · 26/02/2019 20:46

Swap all his pillowcases for white ones. There’ll be no hiding the filth then. And don’t change them for a week. Show him the filth.

Ilovemypantry · 26/02/2019 21:23

Fazackerley
Think I’d rather sleep next to a horse tbh.

OP posts:
Ilovemypantry · 26/02/2019 21:27

Cherrysoup
All the bedlinen is white anyway. The pillowcases don’t actually look dirty, they just smell of “sweaty head” smell. I have done that, shown him and made him smell them but he just says he can’t smell anything 🙄.

CosmicCanary · 26/02/2019 21:29

If you dont shower 4 times a day mn think your disgusting.

Smotheroffive · 26/02/2019 21:42

Does his head smell.soooo SOOO bad that pillowcases need washing 3 x weekly?!! Yet he can't smell them. Can you smell them from your side of the bed or are you burying your nose in his pillow to smell?

I mean, horses have a far more pleasant smell, and they rarely have a wash!

It's not even a daily shower he needs, he just needs to include washing his scalp as part of his daily face wash.

He does clean his teeth and shave/wash his face each day?
