My dd plays ladies football. Recently she played against a team with a player who looked and sounded very masculine. It has been confirmed since that this player was transgender male to female.

Dh and I have had many conversations about the rights and wrongs of allowing this.

This player had a significant physical advantage.

We would both be really interested to hear peoples thoughts on this

@CallMeSirShotsFired I know right? No physical advantage whatsoever....

It's cheating.

propertywoe · 22/02/2019 09:44

Even if estrogen reduced the advantages this can not be enforced at grass roots/ amateur level. My niece who is now pro football player came through at university level, if them teams had male level testosterone she would probably not have got to the level she is at.

theworldistoosmall · 22/02/2019 09:46

Regardless of if men retain their physical pre-transition strength, it's cheating. Testerone levels are 10 nanomoles/litre, whereas if a female born sportsperson had this level of testosterone they would be banned for cheating. The normal range for females is 0.12 to 1.79 nanomoles per litre, although 5 nanomoles per litre are allowed.

‘Also, why do you never see trans men elite athletes if biology doesn’t make much difference. Probably because it does and women cannot compete.’

One of the most sensible and true statements I have seen within this debate.

FermatsTheorem · 22/02/2019 09:48

In case it wasn't clear aeroflot I think it's utterly despicable and straight-out cheating too - I was trying to make the point that the photo is if anything even more shocking when you realise the people this individual is towering over are adult women, and tall adult women at that.

CallMeSirShotsFired · 22/02/2019 09:49

oh good grief, stop acting like an innocent wounded puppy (ironically named) dramafreelife.

GC feminists are not some alien species, we are pro-women and anti-anyone trying to remove the rights and privileges previous generations worked to get. Why shouldn't we?

Anything that isn't absolute submission to whatever the trans lobby think up that day is denounced as "anti trans" and it's laughable now.

theworldistoosmall · 22/02/2019 09:50

And yea a 6 ft 6 male has an advantage over females playing basketball. GL should have stuck to coaching rather than deciding at 52 to play females basketball. Ridiculous.

Anyone who cannot see the physical advantage needs to give themselves a bloody good head wobble on the way to having their eyes tested.

DataBreachCentral · 22/02/2019 09:51

Hannah Mouncey hasn't just retained their male physiology, they've also retained their male attitude. These are their responses to a woman who was debating with them.

It is unfair Fermats isen't it, as it puts biological Females at a great disadvantage, but it ok, if I am alright jack, attitude from them.

The powers that be, should not allow this, it is unfair.

Nothing wounded about me at all. Just someone who can't be arsed with people hiding their real views behind other things.

You are the one acting like a victim, noone is taking anything away. Get out in the real world, people are just getting on with it.

TidyDancer · 22/02/2019 09:59

Someone on twitter said (in response to HM) that sport should be played between XX vs XX and XY vs XY chromosomes. Thought that was an interesting idea if you want to avoid offending the 'trans women'.

CallMeSirShotsFired · 22/02/2019 10:06

Just someone who can't be arsed with people hiding their real views behind other things.

Do you use that line to all the transsexual people who believe the same things as GC feminists too? If not, why not?

(BTW, I think you are missing a few slurs from the official TRA playbook though, so feel free to add them in next time.)

Thanks for reminding me why I hid the feminist board along with many, many others. Note to self - don't get dragged in when the shit spreads to other boards. Wink

FermatsTheorem · 22/02/2019 10:11

You are the one acting like a victim, noone is taking anything away.

Tell that to the young women in America losing college athletics scholarships and hence the chance of having their education funded.

Tell that to the woman whose leg Hannah Mouncey broke.

Tell that to Tamika Brent (the woman whose orbital socket was shattered by Fallon Fox).

Of course it's ridiculous. Of course it's cheating. Of course it puts women (human, adult females) at a disadvantage.

But you'll be branded transphobic by the people who believe that everyone who says they are a woman, is a woman.

Lumene · 22/02/2019 10:17

I did used to read and post. I was shouted down a fair few times for pointing out anti trans views. I don't have particularly extreme views, remained polite and can absolutely see issues with self ID but it was very blatant that if I was happy to use people's preferred pronouns and didn't give them a satisfactory answer to their 'what makes someone a woman' question then they just ganged up until I gave up posting.

Sorry to hear you had this experience, I have similar views but never had any similar issues with the board. Not sure what the difference is or why such different experiences.

Lumene · 22/02/2019 10:19

I also haven’t seen anti trans views on the board though and not sure what you mean by that?

CallMeSirShotsFired · 22/02/2019 10:20

Thanks for reminding me why I hid the feminist board along with many, many others.

No, thank YOU for making this big announcement again (in case we missed it last time)! It's such an amazing "gotcha" and MNers everywhere are bereft at the news and will immediately close FWR down. You have been so brave and stunning enough to advise of us this. Twice.

I hope you are able to find a small morsel of interest amongst the very few boards you continue to patronise with your great presence
