To think current pop music is telling us something very disturbing about the nation’s youth?

Watching the Brit awards (I know, why).
Ed Sheehan. Calvin Harris. Sam Smith. All of whom in my day (hitches bosom) would have been pure radio two fodder.
Only grime gives me hope. What the fuck is wrong with kids today? Not enough class As?

Grime sounds like divisive angriness. I preferred the Soul Weekender togetherness vibe.

SpamChaudFroid · 20/02/2019 21:48

Jared Leto looks nice in his red cuban heels.

NothingOnTellyAgain · 20/02/2019 21:48

Drill

Just listened to quick google so not huge sample is like grime but I suppose with extra violence and gang affiliation maybe.

Echobelly · 20/02/2019 21:49

The Kids do seem to be awfully fond of earnest and sockless young men with tight ankle-length jeans and affected vocals.

mum2jakie · 20/02/2019 21:51

Who the fuck are the 1975??!! God, I'm old...

This really is a load of old shit though!

jacksonmaine · 20/02/2019 21:51

Grin Awful especially if an acoustic guitar is thrown in Echobelly.

Pumpkintopf · 20/02/2019 21:52

Lead singer of the 1975 is like a poor man's jamiroquai Grin

ASauvignonADay · 20/02/2019 21:52

I'm confused about the term drill which seems to mean a kind of music but also a culture?

DonaldTwain · 20/02/2019 21:53

No. Jamiroquai could sing.

Can’t beat a bit of KLF mayhem at the Brits

Pumpkintopf · 20/02/2019 21:55

Yes donaldtwain. Hence poor man's jamiroquai. He had a bit of energy too, unlike this fellow who just moons about with his pikachu hat on.

NothingOnTellyAgain · 20/02/2019 21:55

Different music tribes always had own culture look values politics even

Note. I know fuck all about drill, that's a general comment!

Halloumimuffin · 20/02/2019 21:55

YABU to think the Brits are representative of young people's taste in music. Minus a few songs here and there it's more reflective of young kids and Asda mums.

NothingOnTellyAgain · 20/02/2019 21:56

KLF!

AHAHA AHAHA

bing bong bing

Etc

NothingOnTellyAgain · 20/02/2019 21:56

Oh is the brits on?

Apologies I had no idea you were all looking at the same thing

Oops

AHintOfStyle · 20/02/2019 21:56

The Lead singer of The 1975 is the offspring of Tim Healy and Denise Welch

NothingOnTellyAgain · 20/02/2019 21:57

And it's right there IN THE FUCKING OP.

those disco biscuits may have damaged the old noggin after all...

Sorry.

I'll get my coat

DonaldTwain · 20/02/2019 21:58

We need Jarvis getting his arse out again.

Damn, you beat me to it. I always find it really funny that his mum is Denise Welch!

Pumpkintopf · 20/02/2019 21:59

DonaldTwain · 20/02/2019 22:00

Grin.

GunpowderGelatine · 20/02/2019 22:02

Haha it's so true, my niece is 21 and at Uni and she was aghast that a house party had "got out of hand" because someone drew on the wall with crayon 🙄 in my 90's Uni partying days, house parties sometimes ended up with emergency vehicles turning up and on one occasion a prison sentence! I remember shitty water coming through the ceilings once because someone purposefully flooded the toilet. And that was one of the tamer ones. Fucking crayon, pfft.

Bohbell · 20/02/2019 22:03

Even my mum said they are all dull and shes mid seventies!

Whatsnewpussyhat · 20/02/2019 22:03

George Ezra is so bloody dull.
Never understood the love for Jess Glynn either.
