AIBU to ask you to explain missing ironing board

Hi,

This may seem trivial to some but it has totally freaked me out to the extent I am spending the night with friends. Please help me see reason!

Yesterday, I had a meeting which required a more formal outfit that was nice and crisp. I have an ironing board which is rarely used but ha ALWAYS been placed in the coat cupboard in my corridor by the front door. However, when I went to retrieve it yesterday it was NOWHERE TO BE SEEN. I am disturbed as I can come up with no logical explanation as to why it was missing. The last time I used it was 3 ish weeks ago.

  • I live on my own in C. London
  • My visitors arrive on foot, tube etc
  • I would notice if they walked off with the ironing board- it is 100% not in the flat.
  • Why steal a rarely used ironing board
-I live in a secure building with the concierge (until 7 pm)

AIBU to ask you to please explain this. I'm really unnerved. Am I crazy? What would your natural reaction to this be?

3out No one knows the key codes/has a key. Why would someone steal an ironing board? I know this is amusing but I'm fairly creeped out.

Ok this is going to sound bizarre, nearly as bizarre as losing an ironing board, but say the st Anthony poem for lost things. It's freaky and has worked in the most strange ways.

I often lose things, some never to be found again!
I lost work shoes a few years ago as I always left them outside in the communal corridor but when I went to work one day they'd vanished. I swore they'd been stolen.
Found them about a week later in a bag because I decided that my other pair were better and it completely escaped my mind.
If you've left it in a corridor whilst ironing it's quite possible it was left there due to distraction and its been tidied away or stolen, have you checked communal areas including the bin store?

The cupboard has an empty tv box and a bike. That is all. I placed all the coats on my sofa.

I never said they stole it (did I?) I thought I’d said a friend has broken it, didn’t want to own up, chucked it out the front door (or window?!) and intended to replace it before you noticed.
I didn’t say your friends had a key, I said they could’ve smuggled it out whilst you were having a pee, or making them a coffee etc.

Do you have an attic hatch?? Could it a. Be in the attic or b. (Sorry to scare you) someone has accessed your flat through the hatch.

Is anything else missing?
