It’s a National Non-Emergency: Trump thread 91

Here we are in February 2019 - Trump has declared a National Emergency to funnel the funds for his border wall, he’s just come off a ridiculous SOTU that contained more lies than not, and he’s just tweeted this:

Donald J. Trump @realDonaldTrump 2h2 hours ago
More
“These guys, the investigators, ought to be in jail. What they have done, working with the Obama intelligence agencies, is simply unprecedented. This is one of the greatest political hoaxes ever perpetrated on the people of this Country, and Mueller is a coverup.” Rush Limbaugh

But here’s a reminder he’s not one of the sharpest tools in the box.

I posted this on Tuesday. I’ll post it again and say: why didn’t the US read my intelligence before they bothered with the summit? (I’ve added some bonding to some relevant sections.)

This an an excerpt from Appeal to All Koreans Adopted at Meeting of C.C, DFRK. Primarily, the appeal is a lofty high-level goal-oriented document aimed at all North Koreans. This part in particular interested me as it indicates that KJU isn’t interested in US cooperation; ultimately they wish the US to leave so the Peninsula and NK can be fully self-reliant. Whether this is a a positive outcome is another thing.

I should make the point that if this is adopted at this meeting, then it is set in stone. It is the same as if it came from KJU himself. (Dated 26/02/2019)

‘Let us not allow joint military exercises with outsiders any longer and check and frustrate all acts escalating tension and destroying peace like the introduction of military hardware including strategic assets from outside.

‘It is necessary to comprehensively expand and develop cooperation and exchange between the north and the south and thus consolidate national reconciliation and unity and make all the compatriots substantially benefit from the mended relations between the north and the south.

‘Let us smash every sanction, pressure and challenge by outsiders by the concerted efforts of all the fellow countrymen and resolutely reject interference and intervention by outsiders to subordinate inter-Korean relations to their tastes and interests!

‘Let us actively search for ways for peaceful reunification based on an all-Korean agreement and make sincere efforts to realize it!’

Before a lurking troll jumps on me for my US intelligence comment, of course that was Grin but, geez!

Trump's gonna be in a filthy mood when he gets home isn't he..

The Vietnam Jong Un thing has ended up like everyone expected.. a photo op.

AcrossthePond55 · 28/02/2019 12:13

KJU plays with Scrotus like a cat with a mouse. And our Supreme Ego is too stupid to realize it.

cozietoesie · 28/02/2019 12:29

I wish I could disagree,

Lweji · 28/02/2019 12:31

Did the US lose in Vietnam, again?

Maybe the conversations ended because, you know, Trump was in pain due to his... bone spurs.
I'd love if a journalist asked him about it.

Roussette · 28/02/2019 13:21

And this is how Russia's reporting it...

Brexit and Trump are the Same Crime: The Carole Cadwalladr Interview

Interestingly:

Carole Cadwalladr
‏*@carolecadwalla*
Well this was pretty fascinating. Invited to speak by @keir_starmer's constituency party last night. A group of hard-core Corbynites tried to no-platform me & then staged walk-out. Otherwise v smart & well-informed audience appalled NOTHING being done about EUref crimes #Labour

PerkingFaintly · 28/02/2019 14:13

Cadwalladr was invited by Keir Starmer's constituency party?

Well.

That's slightly reassuring that someone's noticed the problem. Also interesting that a group tried to no-platform her.

PerkingFaintly · 28/02/2019 14:15

(I'm assuming that, other than being up to his oxters trying to cope with the mess at Westminister, Starmer does actually talk to his CLP and is quite bright and has a grasp of the bigger picture.)

MerdedeBrexit · 28/02/2019 14:26

I missed this yesterday, apologies if it's already been posted:

BREAKING: A GOP lobbyist just told me @realDonaldTrump is in “complete disarray” and that he was “blindsided” by Cohen’s opening statement. Trump feels “betrayed” & is “absolutely furious.” Says Trump even wanted to fly back to US, and also didn’t know Cohen could bring evidence.
5:14 PM - 27 Feb 2019

I particularly like the last phrase (my bold).

PerkingFaintly · 28/02/2019 14:27

Cadwalladr:

"our total capture of institutions in Britain by Russian money."

Eg, Lord Barker works for Deripaska, has refused to answer questions about what he does for Deripaska. Massive Russian payments to current minister in the foreign office.

Cadwalladr praising US institutions for being robust and strong and trying to get to the bottom of things, whereas in the UK it feels like state capture by Russia and no will to investigate (other than Damian Collins' committee).

PerkingFaintly · 28/02/2019 14:34

Cadwalladr on Arron Banks' lies about multiple meetings with the Russian ambassador to discuss gold and diamond mine deals, including same day as launch of Leave.eu (or some other leave campaign).

PerkingFaintly · 28/02/2019 14:38

Well I'm learning lots about Seamus Milne, to whom I haven't paid much attention until now.Shock

PerkingFaintly · 28/02/2019 14:48

Cadwalladr: "Some of the main donors to the Brexit campaign were hedge fund managers"

They made huge amounts of money on the currency shifts the night of Brexit, and are making more with the ongoing uncertainty.

PerkingFaintly · 28/02/2019 15:10

OK, there was far too much in that interview with Carole Cadwalladr to even slightly do it justice.

It's very worth listening to – the actual interview starts approx 7 mins into the podcast, IIRC, which is about 48 mins in total.

I couldn't keep up, but Cadwalladr cites a lot of verifiable material. Didn't note the name of her interviewer but it's someone who works with Sarah Kendzior.

AcrossthePond55 · 28/02/2019 15:14

So today's the closed door testimony. Oh, to be a fly on that wall!!

PerkingFaintly · 28/02/2019 15:16

MerdedeBrexit, I LOVE that Trump is blindsided because he "didn’t know Cohen could bring evidence".

Noticed yesterday that, when asked if he could produce corroborating evidence, Cohen said Trump didn't use email or [other written form].

Good habits for anyone who plans to break the law...

IIRC, Cohen also said the reason he taped Trump telling him to make promises to David Pecker of National Inquirer, was that T had previously caused Cohen problems by going back on his word to Pecker.

Roussette · 28/02/2019 15:42

*Noticed yesterday that, when asked if he could produce corroborating evidence, Cohen said Trump didn't use email or [other written form].

Yes. Apparently Stephen Miller never emails. Only speaks. That'll be why.

PerkingFaintly · 28/02/2019 16:26

Izzat so? Quelle surprise.

Absolutely unbelievable - Trump's defence of Kim Jong-Un re the Otto Warmbier discussion. Disgusting.

House Oversight seeks interviews with Ivanka Trump, Don Jr.
www.politico.com/story/2019/02/28/house-oversight-trump-cohen-testimony-1196594

The House Oversight Committee will pursue interviews with some of President Donald Trump's children and closest allies who were implicated in Michael Cohen’s bombshell testimony before the panel, Chairman Elijah Cummings said Thursday.

“All you have to do is follow the transcript. If there are names that were mentioned or records that were mentioned during the hearing, we want to take a look at all of that,” Cummings told reporters.

In his nearly six-hour appearance before the key House panel investigating the president and his business dealings, Cohen name-dropped several of Trump’s closest confidants and associates, including several of his adult children. After Wednesday’s hearing, Democrats said they were interested in speaking with Donald Trump Jr., Ivanka Trump and Allen Weisselberg, the longtime chief financial officer of The Trump Organization.
