To think everyone saying Shamima Begum should rot in Syria have completely overlooked the fact that she is pregnant

StepAwayFromGoogle · 14/02/2019 13:39

Just that really. She did a terrible thing going to Syria to marry an ISIS fighter. But she was only 15 and probably incredibly naive. She has already lost two children, one as a complication of malnutrition. And the child she is pregnant with has done nothing wrong. Surely we shouldn't leave him or her there to die too?

Why is thinking she ought to face justice in this country “supporting her”?

Logical step is to let her face justice in the country she went to war with then, no?

BertrandRussell · 20/02/2019 20:51

Incidentally @BejamNostalgia- i’m still waiting for an example “I don’t know how you can deny it bertrand, a quick AS brings up reams and reams of your advocacy for jihadis.”

I assume you’re either going to ignore, or say something along the lines of “I don’t have to prove anything to you-I know what I know”

Which, considering the strength of the allegation, is a bit pathetic..

derxa · 20/02/2019 20:53

when she is 3 days post partum. So what. She's completely behind this media show.

BertrandRussell · 20/02/2019 21:12

Sarah Ditum just put this on Twitter-I think it’s interesting”..... deprivation of statehood is not just a cruel & unusual justice. It's also the state saying: "Fuck it, we can't deliver justice." It's a dereliction & it's cowardice. Bring her home, try her, punish her. Fulfill the contract.”

BejamNostalgia · 20/02/2019 21:18

bertrand you have advanced search. Use it. You’re an apologist for terror. You prioritise the rights of terrorists above the safety of innocents citizens. You believe that risking the death of innocent people is a price worth paying for the comfort of war criminals.

Juells · 20/02/2019 21:25

"Fuck it, we can't deliver justice." It's a dereliction & it's cowardice. Bring her home, try her, punish her. Fulfill the contract.”

So if a Saudi or Iraqi or Somalian came to the UK and engaged in terrorist activities you'd be happy for him or her to be returned there for possibly/maybe being re-educated and released?

MissEliza · 20/02/2019 21:26

She will appeal the Home Office decision and probably win. SJ is just appealing to public opinion. By the time she wins, he'll be somewhere else.
Honestly if she'd shown some sign that her experience in Syria had taught her some respect for the UK, I'd have supported her being allowed in. Citizenship is a privilege and responsibility as well as a right. She strikes me as an arrogant and entitled child who thinks it's about taking not giving. She wants the NHS for her child? Well that was created by people caring for everyone in society. However she doesn't give a fuck about anyone else in this society. She sees the murder of girls her own age in Manchester as justifiable. It's just unbelievable to imagine her living amongst us.

Wauden · 20/02/2019 21:28

We haven't actually seen a baby yet. And of there is one, is it even hers?

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 20/02/2019 21:32

So no then bejam

Just say no i dont have any links

mrcharlie · 20/02/2019 21:32

If she comes back, book publishers will be falling over themselves as will probably Hollywood film studios.
End result, a very wealthy IS wannabe Poster Girl.
Can you imagine the cost of providing her with security...She has made so many enemies now here in the UK.

If her parents are so concerned, might I suggest they join her and their new grandson

GogoGobo · 20/02/2019 21:33

Get a grip Wauden.
And to previous posters - I'm not supporting her. She should come here and face trial. We can't expect Syria to keep our exported terrorists.

BertrandRussell · 20/02/2019 21:34

“bertrand you have advanced search.“

Grin What did I tell you? I am completely confident that you can’t find a single post of mine supporting terrorism.

If I didn’t have a policy of not reporting personal attacks on me, you would have had several posts deleted by now.

Justanotherlurker · 20/02/2019 21:34

Exactly, some don't realise the situation and are only thinking along arbitury partisan lines

Wauden · 20/02/2019 21:45

GogoGobo, did you think it was clever to be so rude to me?

mrcharlie · 20/02/2019 21:48

I note that Diane "Fuckin" Abbott has jumped in to defend her.
FFS, am I surprised...really didn't see that coming (rolls eyes)

GogoGobo · 20/02/2019 21:50

Not clever Wauden, necessary though.
You just sound a bit "Daily Star" with the fake baby angle

MadCatEnthusiast · 20/02/2019 21:56

FFS, am I surprised...really didn't see that coming (rolls eyes)

She's the Shadow Home Sec, of course she'd be "jumping in" because she's his direct opposition. She's just told Sajid Javid that human rights could be broken and corrected some his facts when speaking in the HoC.

WilkoBrandCleaner · 20/02/2019 21:59

I don't understand this, is there no 'proceeds of crime' legislation in the UK?

In Australia it means that if you're a convicted criminal and sell your story, the government takes the profits: newsroom.unsw.edu.au/news/business-law/explainer-how-proceeds-crime-law-works-australia

derxa · 20/02/2019 22:08

What did I tell you? I am completely confident that you can’t find a single post of mine supporting terrorism. Probably not but one of the threads about a terrorist incident you were on reduced me to tears. Your insensitivity re the victims of terrorism is breath taking.

BertrandRussell · 20/02/2019 22:09

“Probably not but one of the threads about a terrorist incident you were on reduced me to tears.”

I am sorry about that. What did I say that upset you so much?

StoneofDestiny · 20/02/2019 22:20

Worth looking at the front cover of Private Eye - for where she probably sees herself in all this.

derxa · 20/02/2019 22:35

Well it's anecdotal which is not allowed on MN. You went on and on about the man who mowed down people on Westminster Bridge as someone who had no connection with a terrorist group. And went on and on about white terrorists as if that excused him. I had a brother who was killed by a motorist and so I had great sympathy with the victims' families. You just didn't get it.

The Government have acted illegally and caved in to public opinion. I do also wonder whether anybody has taken into account that she will have seen what happens to people who criticise ISiS which may account for her comments during the televised interviews.

StoneofDestiny · 20/02/2019 22:40

Sorry - wrong thread!
