To ask - your favourite word?

Not sure if it's weird but I just have a little collection of words I love (mainly for their meaning and not the sound).

I loved limerence when I first heard it.

Does anyone have any other words that they really like the meaning of? I'm actually looking for one-word tattoo inspiration (don't judge for the tattoo!), so I'm reading, googling, being more conscious of words in films etc but I thought I'd ask you users as well!

My favourite word is a Turkish one inspired by dh who is half Turkish, 'yakamoz' it's a word used to describe when the moonlight shines on the ocean, doesn't sound very romantic to say but the meaning is lovely

PeanutButterCheesecake · 10/02/2019 20:58

Defenestrate, although a PP has also mentioned it.

Also, profiterole.

Fruitbatdancer · 10/02/2019 21:02

I love the word zeitgeist literally translated means a ghost of time ie the ghost of an era

freerangechocolateegg · 10/02/2019 21:05

Scapegoat, it just seems such a random word although googling tells me it's biblical.

iklboo · 10/02/2019 21:06

Mellifluous. It just flows beautifully.

I don't mind a good debate; even having a bit of a pop. But trawling through old posts and serving them colder than revenge is beyond the pale and Unacceptable. Capital U. That is bullying and probably harassment tbh.

Chocolateporridge · 10/02/2019 21:22

I love crepuscule and crepuscular, I'm always trying to find ways to drop them into conversation!

OhTheRoses · 10/02/2019 21:22

Wrong thread. Sorry. Oh plop.

Littlepond · 10/02/2019 21:23

Lemon. I love saying the word lemon. And yellow. Yellow lemon. Mmmm.

Witchend · 10/02/2019 21:25

I like saying ticker-tape-timer
It has a nice ring to it.

It also means I can reminisce about the time we looked at gravity by dropping a battery powered one out of the window.
For any scientists wanting to know, this results in a broken ticker-tape-timer and a somewhat annoyed teacher.

JaneJeffer · 10/02/2019 21:30

Halcyon is a lovely word.

Plop makes me feel ill.

OhTheRoses · 10/02/2019 21:35

Halcyon. Ooh yes. Perfect.

Merchantgirl · 10/02/2019 21:37

Northumberland, obviously it's a name but I love the sound of it. Never been there though (yet)

Greenteandchives · 10/02/2019 21:40

Although having read a pp I must agree that Adverse Camber has a lovely sound

Heronymous · 10/02/2019 21:46

Archipelago is my favourite word.

Ridingthegravytrain · 10/02/2019 21:47
