Celery.

The tiniest slice ruins any meal. AIBU?

Do you have another suggestion?

Cucumber. It's horrible, disgusting tasting stuff that contaminates everything. Even if the cucumber is removed, I can still taste it.

Clavinova · 10/02/2019 12:08

Cloves - in a league of their own.

Mustard
Horseradish
Desiccated coconut
Capers
Katsu curry sauce

stevie69 · 10/02/2019 12:41

Fresh tomatoes. Tinned are fine.

DianaPrincessOfThemyscira · 10/02/2019 12:47

Aniseed or anything that tastes even remotely like it.

I can take minced mushrooms or celery in stuff even tho I hate them. Aniseed tho - no thanks I’d rather go hungry!

PenCreed · 10/02/2019 12:47

Cheese. Mayonnaise. I hate them both, try finding a ready made sandwich with neither.

chocolateavocado99 · 10/02/2019 12:49

Margarine or any low fat spreads- just use butter! Actually anything low fat. Yoghurt / cheese / milk - it all has a vile aspartame flavour.

MyKingdomForACaramel · 10/02/2019 12:51

Parsley and worse stil coriander (and there’s a trend to stick it on top of fucking everything at the moment)

Lahlahfizzyfizzydoda · 10/02/2019 12:55

Cloeslaw or potato salad...🤮

Lahlahfizzyfizzydoda · 10/02/2019 12:56

It’s the smell when opening it.....rank!

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 10/02/2019 13:24

"Margarine or any low fat spreads- just use butter!"

I couldn't agree more, @chocolateavocado99! My GP once advised me to use low fat spread, to aid my weight loss - so I asked him why a product that needed industrial processes, a factory, and colourings to make it look even vaguely palatable was healthier than something I could make in my own kitchen, with one ingredient and one piece of equipment. He had no answer!

I have only found one low fat product that I will eat - and that is low fat mayonnaise - for some reason, they can make that taste nice.

Ithinkmycatisevil · 10/02/2019 13:26

Bananas 🤢
Work of the devil.

GabsAlot · 10/02/2019 13:55

celery in lasagne? new one on me

oh yes marmite horrid think its the texture for me-but then i cant stand the stench

thundercats192 · 10/02/2019 13:59

Swede - bleurgh
Artichokes
Pepper (the seasoning, I love the vegetable)
Squid

quirkychick · 10/02/2019 14:04

Ithinkmycatsevil I totally agree. Banoffee pie, just why would you ruin caramel sauce with banana.

I'm really not that fussy, I eat nearly all veg (celery in lasagne is surely sofrito or mirepoix, a fried mixture of onion, carrots and celery to add depth of flavour). I like lots of strong flavours on here: goats cheese, garlic, chilli, coriander, most seafood.

I totally get whoever said about chocolate, I really love dark chocolate, but both times I was pregnant it tasted disgusting.

Thecreosotekid · 10/02/2019 14:34

Reading these I want to now add to my list:
Tarragon- sounds like a character out of Game Of Thrones and completely buggers up innocent fish and chicken.

Caraway seeds - also buggers anything they’re allowed near up.

And in addition:

cumin smells like sweaty armpits when you start to fry it.
Blueberries taste slightly vomitty
Fish sauce smells of mucky bottom. But it’s ok added to stuff in v small quantities somehow.

JuniperSling · 10/02/2019 14:46

Baked bean juice.

Frogstaring · 10/02/2019 14:54

Spring Onion
Aniseed

Sjofn · 10/02/2019 14:59

Excessive garlic
Mushrooms
Garlic Mushrooms
Garlic butter
Garlic bread
Garlic
Sprouts/swede/cauliflower
Sliced tomato
Veal
Liver
Pork chops (cold gristly memories)
Blue cheese
Mint - apart from in chewing gum

However I luffs me all types of onion, baked beans, cabbage and mayonnaise. Not necessarily together obvs.

KurriKurri · 10/02/2019 15:15

Yes to caraway seeds I once had a biscuit with these little buggers in it and one got stuck in my throat and deliberately tried to kill me - that's their game - give them a wide berth.

Coriander - obviously it is hideous.
Desicated coconut - ditto.
Any kind of mollusc (sea or land)
Kidney beans - an entirely undigestible item - may as well eat a piece of wood.

Fillybuster · 10/02/2019 15:25

Bananas. Fruit of the devil! Unbelievably grim flavour, strong smell, totally take over anything else they are mixed with. I’ve lost count of the number of times someone has claimed “there’s only a bit of banana” in a fruit salad, cake, etc....you can smell it a mile off!

FWIW, I spent years mushing them up and enthusiastically feeding them to my dcs who all now love the blardy things, and I appreciate that they are nutritious, filling and convenient, but gosh, I utterly detest and loathe them.

Off to RTWT now Grin

Fillybuster · 10/02/2019 15:32

Thank goodness for @Ithinkmycatsevil and @quirkychick

How are there so few banana haters out there? They are off-the-scale grim!

FWIW I love pretty much all other food 😀

woollyheart · 10/02/2019 16:08

Agree with @GallicosCats

Palm oil ruins everything it is in
Dried Parmesan in packets stinks
Slimy Pearl Barley is difficult to swallow
Sultanas in curry or cakes - horrible squashed bits like unwelcome flies

Also, chocolate in puddings, or bananas in puddings. This means that I am seldom tempted to have any dessert because most include chocolate or banana these days.

The only way I can eat a banana is if it is raw and quite unripe - once it ripens it is grainy and has an overpowering taste.

Chocolate on it's own - lovely. Cooked in cakes and desserts - no. Even worse if it is white chocolate because then it is also disgustingly sweet.

Thurmanmurman · 10/02/2019 16:14

Raw onion on burgers or in salads. Also peas and sweetcorn. Minging!

gonelongago · 10/02/2019 16:20

You are my friend!

MRex · 10/02/2019 16:23

Aniseed / fennel - can make me vomit, otherwise just despised
Banana, the squodgy rank things taste mouldy
