Food that ruins EVERYTHING

Celery.

The tiniest slice ruins any meal. AIBU?

Do you have another suggestion?

All margarine is vile. My mother used it throughout my whole childhood. I took great pleasure in buying butter when I had my own house.

Pearl barley and lamb are disgusting too.

Fuppy · 10/02/2019 07:44

WAIT.

Wasabi - makes me want to vomit myself inside out. Tastes like sweaty Tupperware that's housed a mouldy sandwich, and fire.

It disguises itself as guacamole to trick you into eating it.

Nothing can get rid of the taste. NOTHING.

Boxerbinky · 10/02/2019 07:57

Red peppers! I don't dislike them. Its when they are put in something that they over power the flavour of. I used to love a particular vegetable pie from Waitrose, think broccoli, carrots, peas, creamy sauce. But for some reason they then added red peppers Hmm all you could taste was the red pepper.. why just why?

ArabellaUmbrella · 10/02/2019 08:19

Beetroot. With its evil purple juice leaking everywhereEnvy

cauliflowersqueeze · 10/02/2019 08:31

@NeverTwerkNaked

How interesting! Never knew / thought about that.

I must be odd- I can't think of any food I dislike.

FlossieF · 10/02/2019 08:46

Another vote for caraway seeds. And also celery, but mainly caraway seeds.

HalfBloodPrincess · 10/02/2019 08:47

Water chestnuts.

If you don’t know what they are, they’re those things that you pick out of your Chinese takeaway before eating it.

madcatladyforever · 10/02/2019 08:49

Raisins and sultanas destroy any type of food...yuck.

Anything in the celeriac family.

Chilli, sick of it spoiling half the food in the shops.

White chocolate in anything BOAK!

vampirethriller · 10/02/2019 09:12

Kale, which looks and tastes like a shredded cagoule, has no place in food and whoever decided to put it in smoothies should be had up for crimes against humanity. It makes everything smell like farts.

Asthenia · 10/02/2019 09:28

Chorizo! Overpowering and greasy

beanaseireann · 10/02/2019 09:29

Raw onion
Chilli

Imperfectsusan · 10/02/2019 09:44

Speakout, me neither.

onemorecupofcoffeefortheroad · 10/02/2019 09:46

Leaves in general.
Lettuce - it’s in everything. I ordered a Greek salad recently which, if you eat one in Greece, should not contain lettuce but they had included it. I complained.
Most pre-prepared sandwiches have it in too.
Can’t stand coriander, basil or parsley too - yet chefs insist on putting handfuls of one or the other all over my dinner.

SerenDippitty · 10/02/2019 09:54

Offal
Duck
Shellfish
Anchovies

Apart from those I love everything that’s been named here.

Crinklesmile · 10/02/2019 10:10

Pinenuts. They taste like oily pieces of food gone off

36degrees · 10/02/2019 10:12

Pomegranate - no idea why people rave about it, it's either the world's biggest faff to just eat the fleshy part, or like eating sour wood if you leave the middle of the pip (with all the health benefits) in.

Omzlas · 10/02/2019 10:16

Any dried fruit in dessert. Fuck right off with that shite

cauliflowersqueeze · 10/02/2019 10:25

Yes pinenuts do taste off I agree.

Cabbage whether green or white and its horrible little offspring brussel sprouts, And coleslaw which was everywhere last year

speakout · 10/02/2019 10:40

grannycake

Oh no- don't diss the cabbage!

Adorable vegetable, I love it in all forms. Ligtly steamed dark leaves, braised white cabbege with bacon, in a stur fry, savoy with soy sauce, I put it into curries, delicious in home made pakora, fantastic stuffed. My daughet loves cabbage too- we are cruciferous allies.

hipposarerad · 10/02/2019 10:43

Has anyone mentioned avocado? I might be committing hipster-heresy by saying this, but fuck me those sludgy buggers are bland in flavour and revolting in texture (I'm getting the heeby-jeebies just thinking about them).

I can just about manage a guacamole as long as its heavy on the garlic, chilli & lime, but if I was presented with sliced avocado on wholegrain toast I'd probably cry.

Also rhubarb turns me over too - even peeling and chopping it makes me go a bit funny... But apparently I make a decent rhubarb crumble. Go figure.

EKGEMS · 10/02/2019 10:46

Cilantro

MamaDane · 10/02/2019 10:46

@hipposarerad yeah fuck avocados honestly

PhilomenaButterfly · 10/02/2019 11:04

For DD it's soy sauce.
For DS2 it's anything with sugar in as we think he might have an intolerance.
