Celery.

The tiniest slice ruins any meal. AIBU?

Do you have another suggestion?

I couldn't live without onion and tomato though, we have those with probably 2 out of every 3 meals

ThanosSavedMe · 10/02/2019 16:25

Sweet corn. Bleugh

StarJumpsandaHalf · 10/02/2019 16:28

Top of my list has to be raw coriander. Even the smell of it. Just NO.
Coriander seeds or the dried herb doesn’t make me recoil in the same way.

Both the smell and flavour of broccoli makes me heave.

Cinnamon, bleurgh.

Hot chilli has such an unpleasant effect on my tongue. Really bad, like being stabbed viscously and repeatedly with a metal cat brush.

Palm oil ruins everything.

prettybird · 10/02/2019 16:34

Any cooked peppers Hmm

They infuse everything Bleurgh .....as in, "this piece of meat on kebab was cooked next to a pepper, so I've got to cut a slice off it before I can eat it" and I just have to straight refuse a stew that has been cooked with peppers.

I can pick out raw peppers from (eg) a salad, but still hate them.

Mushrooms - especially cooked. Horribly slimy things Sad If they're cooked/chopped finely enough (eg in a pate), I can thole them. But I have horrible memories of trying to be polite and eat a mushroom risotto when visiting friends of dh Shock. It was very difficult to find enough grains of risotto rice to be able to swallow without gagging. Hmm

Cooked celery. I can just about tolerate small slices raw celery in salad now (I'm only 57 Wink). Confusingly though, I am ok with celery and stilton soup Confused and love celeriac Grin

quirkychick · 10/02/2019 16:46

There's a lot of foods on this thread that have a strong taste and tbh, I can understand why people don't like coriander, chilli, garlic, peppers although I love them (I agree that peppers are pretty indigestible unless roasted).

I notice I'm not the only banana hater. I don't know if that's genetic, as my dad and dd1 are the same. Dp and dd2 love the buggers, unfortunately.

Poppins2016 · 10/02/2019 16:49

Raw onion/spring onion. I hate it and the aftertaste is almost worse!

ChillyB · 10/02/2019 16:49

Onions
Tomatoes
Peppers
Mushrooms
Mayonnaise

sueelleker · 10/02/2019 18:15

AdaColeman; was the Ardennes pate from Waitrose? I bought some at Christmas, and it was foul.

needsleepzzz · 10/02/2019 18:27

'Tomatoes. I love tomato based sauces but tomato pieces are revolting'
^ this. Also can't stand mushrooms Envy< not envy!!!

YouBumder · 10/02/2019 18:27

The only way I can eat a banana is if it is raw and quite unripe - once it ripens it is grainy and has an overpowering taste.

Same. They are disgusting when ripe or in things eg smoothies or cooked.

AdaColeman · 10/02/2019 19:00

sueelleker Yes, from Waitrose!

Nothing like any Ardennes pâté I've ever tasted, and I lived in Bastogne for a while! I didn't even like the dish it came in! Grin

Greensleeves · 10/02/2019 19:02

Spammy pink cubes of cheap meat
Prawns.

I can't eat any "special" mixed rice or noodle dishes from Chinese takeaways because they are always adulterated by one or both of the above revolting fuckers.

EnthusiasmIsDisturbed · 10/02/2019 19:08

Pumpkin

Thankfully here it isn’t thrown into everything

In Australia it often just appeared in food I was never expecting to find pumpkin

MikeUniformMike · 10/02/2019 19:22

Dried fruit in savoury dishes.
Cinnamon.
Vanilla.
Goat's cheese.
Don't mind mushrooms, just not for starter and main course.

MissElaineNeus · 10/02/2019 20:33

Crap chocolate like Mars bars, creme eggs (bleirgh) etc.
Sugary fizzy drinks.
Biscuits.

Love coriander, garlic, chilli, cheese, mushrooms, lettuce, cabbage, sweetbreads, lambs brains, but keep all the sugary junk away from me.

33goingon64 · 10/02/2019 20:38

Doubt anyone else has this, but I can't stand it when desserts come dusted with icing sugar. Surely the dessert is as sweet as it needs to be, you add more sugar and it makes it too sweet!

cushioncovers · 10/02/2019 20:38

Coriander why the fuck does it taste of soap
Raisins
Sultanas
Aubergine

Busybusybust · 10/02/2019 20:41

Fennel

StepAwayFromGoogle · 10/02/2019 20:42

Another vote for celery.
Any fruit in savoury food.
Mint. And it's in EVERYTHING at the moment.
Fennel.

DiaryofWimpyMumm · 10/02/2019 20:48

Mushrooms
Mustard
Pepper
Celery
Cucumber
Warm tuna 🤢

Ronsters · 10/02/2019 20:49

Peppers, I quite like green peppers cut fine but hate it when salads, etc are padded out with huge chunks of it, I hate red/yellow peppers.
Raisins/sultanas, I hate them, and unsweetened muesli always seems to have millions of them

Merename · 10/02/2019 21:00

SALTANAS!

Decrepit geriatric fruity bastards.

^ like sultanas, but really old and salty Grin

kateandme · 10/02/2019 21:15
