Food that ruins EVERYTHING

Yep, mussels or whelks or winkles or the like. I’m vegetarian now but used to eat fish and seafood and the amount of times I couldn’t order an otherwise lovely seafood dish in a fancy schmancy restaurant because they’d also added effing snot textured shellfish, grrrrr.

Stalks if you must, I can take it off, but don’t chop it finely, sprinkle it everywhere and make my meal inedible.

Also, do put it on sandwich labels if it’s in there. It’s not like I won’t notice having a very sudde asthma attack...

Fish sauce tastes like cat vomit smells. Evil stuff.

And prawns. Why do so many restaurants ruin every fish dish by cooking fish in a sauce or broth full of rubbish-guzzling wet insects?

Parsnip in stews. Yes I can still taste it, Mum, and no it is not potato.
Chilli - I can cope with the tiniest amount but the second my mouth starts to burn, fuckit. This includes all other "heat-making" spices as well, to be fair.
Tomato (now) - gives me severe acid reflux and sometimes IBS as well, even the smallest amount of tomato paste.

Stevia - yes I can taste it, it tastes like aspartame residue to me, no I cannot eat it.
Aspartame - just no.
Peanuts - no I'm not allergic, I just don't like them and I can't be doing with them in any meal, but especially not sweet stuff. (Hangover from being fed peanut brittle on long car journeys --> vomiting everywhere)

BUT I will happily eat olives, capers, dill pickles, mild mustard, celery, fennel, coriander and all manner of other things mentioned here!

My children though - DS1 is like me with the pickle things, DS2 won't touch them at any price. Neither of them will eat large pieces of cooked onion or mushroom (slimy) so onion and mushroom get minced down to tiny tiny pieces. They don't dislike the flavour, just the texture (I get this, I won't eat semolina, fried egg white or raw oysters) but since they eat all their veg usually and most other things, I do tend to "pander" to their dislikes. Of course, they've never tried parsnip though! Grin

Mayonnaise- vile, slimey glop that can give you the trots for days if it's left in the warm at wedding buffet tables.

Garlic - vile, disgusting I don't care how good it is for you it.just.STINKS. and gives me heartburn.

I agree about parsnips. Roast parsnips particularly as they pose as delicious roast potatoes.

I have no problem with mist seafood or shellfish but had a nasty reaction to winkles, so I wouldn't be eating anything with them in.

Bananas, so many desserts are ruined by them. Fruit salads, no I can't pick them out, everything tastes of banana. Same with loads of smoothies.

Most of mine have been said :baked beans, parsnips coriander and beetroot. I'll add pine kernels, butter beans, cumin and artificial sweeteners especially stevia. Foul substances all.

Not arguing with you, Nonever, but you know stevia isn't actually an artificial sweetener, it's a natural one - but that made it EVEN WORSE to me when it tasted so disgusting! SO disappointed.
