All the ones that aranged for brexit without any clear plan can go to hell as far as I'm concerned. That's why we are in such a mess now!

He is absolutely right. I admire him for saying that.

I've felt less and less patriotic since the referendum result. I'm afraid I have seen this country show it's true colours. They are ugly - xenophobic and bigoted.

why100000 · 07/02/2019 06:45

Agree totally.

And MPs like Whatshisname Bone who say Tusk was saying it about all Leavers - can take a running jump with their lying, dog whistling, manipulative, country destroying, right wing crap.

ricepolo · 07/02/2019 06:57

@topseyt absolutely. I agree entirely. Am ashamed and embarrassed to be British. DH is about to accept a job in Germany. He was going to commute but with all this going on we’re likely to move there: I have no desire to raise my family in this appalling excuse of a nation.

RedWineIsFabulous · 07/02/2019 07:02

Nope. Could never admire a man like that.

Not in a million years.

The quicker we leave the better.

user1471426142 · 07/02/2019 07:10

Article 50 should never have been triggered when no-one had a bloody clue. The failure to prepare for a leave vote in the referendum was a disgraceful abdication of responsibility. I am angry at what has happened and the cluster fuck of a mess we are now in.

Redact · 07/02/2019 07:29

Agree with Tusk wholeheartedly. Those politicians who sold a lie should be brought to account. What an absolute mess they have got us into.

kalinkafoxtrot45 · 07/02/2019 07:31

Totally agree. We‘ve been thrown under the bus for the sake of Tory infighting and pandering to xenophobia.

Those taken in by this idiocy should hang their heads in shame. Fucking mess.

I completely agree.

nauticant · 07/02/2019 07:58

This line is being pushed hard by a number of media outlets. I'm surprised at them being so blatant at spreading disinformation, but not surprised to see them getting away with it.

Trump might be wrong about many things but this is an actual real world example that some parts of the media will spread fake news if they view it in their own interests.

QueenieInFrance · 07/02/2019 07:59

So you’re banned from leaving the UK once we leave?
Are you for real?

No yurverugyt. Things will change but so dramatically. Because most EU countries are not twats towards people coming to their country.

Now let’s look at how it would be countries in the EU were behaving like thenUK.
Well let’s apply the same rules to Brits going to the EU as the ones the U.K. applies to any immigrant to the U.K.
So from now on, Brits need

  • to earn at least £30k per year to be allow to be an immigrant in any EU country. That’s more than half the population that will never be able to go and live in the EU. Because they're clearly unskilled and of no use for any other country in the EU.
  • if you are a spouse of an EU citizen, you can’t assume you will be able to go and live with them either. Children or not. Skype families are OK no?
  • you will be treated as a scrounger, might be attacked just because you are british. And generally vilified by all the political class.
  • you will be constantly under attack because you are using the ressources of the country eg the NHS or schools. Especially true of course, for all the retired people who would like to spend their old age in a more sunny country! How dare they going there when their health needs are so high?!?
  • and finally, and that’s only if you use to live in that country before, have established your life in that EU country for years and generally participated to the country, paid taxes etc..., your right to stay in the country will never be on a piece of paper that you can show to officials, landlords or the company you are working for. Nope. It will be on a database that you KNOW is unreliable like all the other databases of that country. But will make it 100x more difficult to check if you are legally living in that country.

Now does it feel? Do you think people would want to go there?

So maybe things won’t have changed so much for Brits.
Even though I expect many more restrictions will be in place than there is now. I doubt that retired people will be able to spend their time in Spain anymore. And nor will you be able to go and restore a house to make it into a B&B either. Many many Brits in France for example can only live there because they get plenty of benefits from the French government. Will they still be able to go and live there after Brexit? I have doubts.

Acting as if nothing has changed is disingenuous. Everything has changed. Both for the U.K. (which seems to be the only things important in your eyes) and for EU citizens.

marvellousnightforamooncup · 07/02/2019 08:02

It's about time someone official called out the bellendry for what it is.

JacquesHammer · 07/02/2019 08:04

*I don't give a fuck what Tusk thinks.

Brexit Board --->>*

Hide button. That way ⬆️⬆️⬆️.

Funny how often you have to tell people this.

Tusk was absolutely on the money.

The fact that people are so vociferously objecting is absolutely perpetuating the stereotype of leave voters.

frumpety · 07/02/2019 08:11

The whole point of the Leave campaign was not to engage in real discussion or arguments about the merits of EU membership. The reason being that those who led the campaign knew that leaving was actually a difficult sell if you looked at the facts and figures, cue Project Fear. As campaigns go it was breathtakingly brilliant and took the KISS principle to giddy new heights.
Those fronting the campaign had no real desire to see Leave win, they wanted to lose by the slimmest of margins, they expected to lose by the slimmest of margins.

That was their only plan.

Mr Tusk pointing it out isn't him being a dictator, it is just a gentle reminder of who is really to blame.

Although it's hard to believe this, anyone following the news on the day of the referendum result will remember Johnson and Gove looking shell-shocked by the news. Far from looking delighted they looked horrified at the result.

wrongsideofhistorymyarse · 07/02/2019 08:28

He's not wrong.

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 07/02/2019 08:30

nauticent

They looked like they were going to throw up

BorisBogtrotter · 07/02/2019 08:34

I'm finding it hilarious that leavers are so hurt by the truth, its also funny that they complain about Tusk "being rude", what about all the remarks about Merkel?

Boris Johnson wrote a poem about the President of Turkey fucking a goat. They always show themselves to be hypocrites, on every issue.

Marmaladehandbag · 07/02/2019 08:37

Agreed. Can they take Trump with them too! I don't know why people have reacted so badly to this comment. It's so obvious they had no idea what they were doing.

Millenialblamegame · 07/02/2019 08:37

He's entirely correct, I can't imagine why anyone would think otherwise

TheElementsSong · 07/02/2019 09:22

Agree with Tusk 100%. And all the faux-outraged Leavers are really funny. Either that, or lacking in comprehension of what should, after all, be their native language. Any Brexiteers with a plan weren't included in what he said - therefore, if you're outraged, you're admitting there was no plan.

To reiterate what prettybird said earlier:

So are those that are outraged at what Tusk said able to outline exactly what plans (or even just a sketch of a plan) those that promoted Brexit put forward before the Referendum (or even in the months that followed) to deliver their vision of Brexit safely?

Topseyt · 07/02/2019 09:26

In that picture of Gove and Boris the day after the referendum they both looked like naughty schoolboys outside the headmaster's office awaiting their punishment.

Boris is simply an arsehole opportunist. He has written pro remain articles in the press in the past. He saw the referendum as his chance to oust Cameron on the back of a narrow Remain win, so that he could become PM whilst nothing much would change. That was his only plan. Unfortunately, it didn't quite pan out that way as we know.

Leavers were sold a pup. They went for it hook, line and sinker. Even when told that actually there would be no £350 million a week for the NHS.

Lweji · 07/02/2019 09:26

Definitely agree

surferjet · 07/02/2019 09:39

I’m not outraged. - I’m happy he’s shown himself up for what he is.
Bitter & arrogant. Smile
