How much exercise do you do per week?

How much exercise do you do throughout an average week? I feel like I’ve been so lazy recently and want to get back into it so looking for a bit of inspiration. Also interested in seeing if there are many others who pretty much do nothing like me. Thanks

I do an hour of fast walking a day (school run, DS on scooter or bike). On top of this, strength/weights sessions at home, yoga, HIIT. I also mix in DVD's such as Davina and Jillian Michaels. I try and do at least something every day.

Foxyloxy1plus1 · 06/02/2019 15:32

Three Zumba classes, two Booty Barre, a cardio and circuits, a flex and tone, one Pilates and a yoga. Plus walking and weights when I remember.

ghostyslovesheets · 06/02/2019 15:34

I try to walk 10,000 steps a day

I do aerobics Monday
4-5k run Tuesday
Weight session Weds
Aerobics and weights Thursday
Weight session Friday and/or run
Run Sat (if I haven't Friday)
Long walk Sun

Currently run twice a week (anywhere between 5-10km but distance will increase gradually over next couple of months up to 20km), swim twice a week (for between 30-60mins at a time). Cycle once but need to do more of that, will sacrifice a run session to do more cycling in coming months. And once a week yoga. BUT I am training for triathlons in April and June and a half marathon after that. If you’d asked me the same question 3 months ago my answer would’ve been swim once and run once per week.

Travis1 · 06/02/2019 15:45

I've only started in the last few months - have a shit ton of weight to lose! I aim for 4 x weight sessions and a couple of metafit classes plus 10K steps a day.

ItsAllGone19 · 06/02/2019 15:58

30 minutes on the exercise bike every morning before anyone else wakes up. By 6am I'm in the shower and ready to take on the day.

Huntawaymama · 06/02/2019 16:17

I walk three miles, usually 3 times a week, so far this week none as my eldest I'd poorly. Oh and sex 3/4 times a week. Atm I count that as I've a 7m old who I can't leave yet so guna grasp at anything being exercise 😂

IamTheMeg · 06/02/2019 16:24

I do with an hour run or ballet class each day. 2 x 1 hour dog walks every day so 3 hours a day. Plus general activity.

McPie · 06/02/2019 16:45

10+ hours each week between classes (6) and running (28 miles).
I am doing a fitness qualification which you would think involves plenty of exercise but sadly there is hardly any Sad

McPie · 06/02/2019 16:49

To answer the question on how do I find the time, my kids are 12 and 17, I get up at 5.30 and run the days I don't start college early and do a long run on a Sunday and all but one of my classes in the evening.

Sunshineandshowers81 · 06/02/2019 16:53

I run 5 times a week, minimum of an hour per session but one run is a long run of about 2hrs and I do core/strength work once per week.

Tensixtysix · 06/02/2019 16:53

Six hours of cleaning non stop three times a week and maybe 3 hours of gardening once a week.
Might find time to go to the gym and have a swim.
Weekends are for hill walking and wild camping

I think I do enough exercise even though I'm paid to do it Grin

RelaisBlu · 06/02/2019 16:56

Gym 3 days a week
Pilates one class a week
Tai Chi one class a week

PlugUgly1980 · 06/02/2019 17:01

I run 4 or 5 times a week, always a long run on a Saturday, then during the week either on my lunch break if I'm working from home or on the treadmill once the kids on in bed, average about 30 miles a week. On the days I'm on the office I cycle to and from my car, so about 5 miles 2 or 3 times a week. Usually a decent family walk on a Sunday and try and when it's not icy and my daughter can scoot I walk to do school drop off twice a week...so another couple of miles walking. Some days work/family life mean i struggle to hit 10,000 steps but over the week usually average about 14,000 steps a day. I've made a real effort in the last 18 months to get more active, but it takes some determination and commitment to fitting it in around full time work and 2 under 5's, but I feel so much better for it (anxiety much more manageable) and I'm fitter and lighter than I was pre-kids. Eat reasonably healthy but don't diet.

Soyalatteforme · 06/02/2019 17:08

In a typical week I do yoga three times a week: 1 x 1hr class, 2 x 30 mins practice at home. Plus a 1hr gym class.

I would love to do more as it helps me feel well and I manage my anxiety levels much better when I’m exercising. But, I have two kids, work 50+ hours a week and my DH doesn’t get home until 8 most nights which leaves little time for classes. Most weeks he gets back in time for me to do the yoga class, and I do the gym class early on a Friday when he works from home so can do school drop off.

PeridotCricket · 06/02/2019 17:22

Since November pilates 3 times a week and a gym class and intermittent jogs of about 40 mins. Bad back hence the pilates. Walk to work and back 3 miles a day.

I felt my fittest when doing circuits 3 times z week. I had a core!

Also an hour or two hike at the weekend.

PeridotCricket · 06/02/2019 17:25

Oh and I'm 3 stone overweight.

thatmustbenigelwiththebrie · 06/02/2019 17:27

I go running and swimming before work 4 days a week (there's a pool at work), I do yoga in my lunch hour and I also walk to work and back which is about 3 miles a day.

I don't have a car at the moment so also walk or cycle anywhere else I want to go which adds up to a few more miles a day.

FortyFacedFuckers · 06/02/2019 17:30

Until January absolutely nothing but started classes at the gym doing 2 or 3, 1 hour classes per week.

EvaHarknessRose · 06/02/2019 17:30

(I will miss one or two of these if I have a busy week, or to do a long family walk at the weekend)

Mon gym 45 mins
Tues off/1hour yoga at home
Weds gym 45 mins
Thurs off
Fri swim 30 mins
Sat parkrun 5km
Sun yoga 1 hour

mum11970 · 06/02/2019 17:31

I do a mixture of classes, gym and runs. 2 x Grit (hiit), 1 spin, 1 boxfit, 1 body conditioning, couple of weight session in the gym, 1 hr badminton and currently running 6 x a week (usually anything from 5-9 km but hoping to do a 12km run tomorrow).

CountFosco · 06/02/2019 17:39

The answers will be biased towards those that do regular exercise.

I swim 4 times a week (30 mins, 1 km) and do yoga (30-60 mins) 3 times a week. But, this is something I've only done for the last 3 years or so. The year before that I slowly increased my exercise and before that I was in the small child bubble and didn't exercise at all for about 7 years while I had 3 pregnancies and 3 EBF children. Pre-kids I did yoga once a week, did a long walk once a week and swam once or twice a week.

So, if you want to increase exercise you need to do something that a) you enjoy b) makes you feel good c) fits naturally into your day. Walk as much as possible, lots of moderate exercise extends you life more than small amounts of intense exercise. Or cycle to work or do exercise early in the morning before work or at work at lunchtime or in the evening or make a long walk a regular weekend activity or do parkrun with the kids.

LaurieFairyCake · 06/02/2019 17:43

1hr yoga
8000 steps 5 days a week

I'm very, very relaxed

JeSuisPrest · 06/02/2019 17:45

5 or 6 sessions at the gym per week. Mainly weights, core work and some HIIT. I loathe cardio Sad.

Up at 5.30am, train 6am to 7am, then back home for shower, get DD ready for school then work for the day.

If I did it in the evening I know I'd find an excuse not to do it.

Careylisa · 06/02/2019 17:54

I do the Jessicasmithtv workouts on you tube whenever I get the time. 10-40 minute workouts that all all standing/light jogging type workouts that cover the whole body and easy to do if I can’t get to the gym.
