How much exercise do you do per week?

How much exercise do you do throughout an average week? I feel like I’ve been so lazy recently and want to get back into it so looking for a bit of inspiration. Also interested in seeing if there are many others who pretty much do nothing like me. Thanks

Play rugby 3-4x per week (2 training sessions, 1 or 2 matches). I felt my most confident when I was doing mostly weight training with some cardio and Pilates thrown in but I find team sport a lot more fun and motivating!

MacavityTheDentistsCat · 06/02/2019 14:52

None Blush.
But I do think a lot about getting my act together ...
I don't really understand it. I used to run marathons and climb mountains on a regular basis.

Fairylea · 06/02/2019 14:53

I walk most days for about an hour as briskly as I can - I use the active 10 app and aim to get 3 a day.

I used to do a lot of cardio and dance classes but I found it was just making me exhausted. I do have chronic health issues though- Addisons, thyroid, asthma etc.

Walking is low impact and good exercise. So many people think the gym is the only way to do it. My dh works with a load of people who drive to work everyday (despite living within 30 mins walk) and then moan about having to go to the gym....!

MrBrown · 06/02/2019 14:53

I have a PT session once a week and try to get in 2 x 45 minute classes which are a mixture of interval running, weights and boxing/combat.

MissCalamity · 06/02/2019 14:53

I play hockey, so 90 mins training in the week, plus a match on the weekend.

I have been trying to get to the gym (aiming for twice each week) but failing at the moment due to messing around with my hours at work, so I can't get into a routine. I will get there as I always feel so much better when I exercise.

Iownabigvase · 06/02/2019 14:58

Walk for an hour twice a week when dd is at nursery. I keep meaning to start back up with my weights (have them at home) but I just cba 😩

Sammiejo12 · 06/02/2019 15:03

I used to be a member of a gym but I've just started dog walking and do on average 8k a day.

This morning I've done 7k in two walks lasting 45min/1hour each.

TickleMeEmo · 06/02/2019 15:05

Before having my first I was running 5K 3/4 times a week, 10K or more at the weekend, practicing yoga daily and a bit of hiit. As well as walking in the mountains Munro bagging.
Since having my first (he’s now 21 months) that changed to walking at least 2 hours a day, practicing yoga most days, running when I could and long family walks at weekends
... since becoming pregnant this time however that has became walking the dog twice a day and practicing yoga most days and the odd long walk when I feel up to it but I’ve had a rough 8 months so far with sciatica and PGP... it’s frustrating as running was my release and made me feel human. I’ve noticed there is a weekly park run at weekends in our new town so hoping to join in with that once baby is here and I’m recovered from birth.

vampirethriller · 06/02/2019 15:06

2.5 hours walking every day with the dog and baby.

Phillipa12 · 06/02/2019 15:08

I run 5km twice a week and do a 40 min HIIT weights session on non run days. Im quite a busy single mum but have found that i sleep very well on a night following exercise, its also proved a life saver for my mental health.

littlepeas · 06/02/2019 15:09

Yoga most days - sometimes twice. I walk my dog when the weather’s warmer, but that task falls to dh in the winter.

romany4 · 06/02/2019 15:10

I do Pilates class twice a week and walk to work and back 3 days. ( only a mile each way tho)
I also have an exercise bike at home which I use at the weekend if I'm feeling energetic but that's not often!

arethereanyleftatall · 06/02/2019 15:12

I do quite a bit, but then it is my hobby so it's easier; hockey twice a week (for fun), swim training for 10 hours per week (for serious), 1xgym + 2x Pilates + 1x yoga per week (for swimming!).

RJnomore1 · 06/02/2019 15:14

Minimum of 4 days mixed up of spinning, weights sessions, weight based cardio classes, hiit classes. Have to be realistic about fitting it in with everything else.

Will start some jogging again when the weather improves too.

BlackInk · 06/02/2019 15:14

How the feck can you all find time to do so much exercise?? Don't you have jobs to go to? Children to look after? Housework to do?

Seriously. I work full time, have two youngish children and have zero time or energy for organised exercise.

I walk for about an hour most days and am generally busy doing work, home and child related stuff until about 9pm every day, when I collapse in a haggard little heap :(

Youshallnotpass · 06/02/2019 15:15

I walk 4 miles a day (as part of commute, so lucky in a way as it doesn't need extra time or thinking time), I also do the same walk on the weekends and every other day I do 15 minutes of push ups, pull ups, plank, squats and some other dumbbell exercises. It's easy to fit in then.

I hate the Gym and I hate using up my actual spare time exercising. Fitting it in amongst the normal stuff is great.

Newmum102 · 06/02/2019 15:17

A fair bit but I enjoy it. Usually 3 weight sessions, a meta fit class & 1 Pilates class a week.

CheshireGirl38 · 06/02/2019 15:17

Feel intimidated yet, OP ? !

WeeDoughball · 06/02/2019 15:18

Gym twice a week doing mainly weights (one session with PT).
Walk 4 miles with pram quickly twice a week when older DS at nursery.
Walk the dog most days whilst pushing pram and chasing DS1 on his bike/scooter (dog walked every day just not always by me)

I'm happier with another gym session but struggling to fit it in at the moment.

littlemeitslyn · 06/02/2019 15:19

Zero

Boopear · 06/02/2019 15:20

I find little and often works for me, as well as mixing up the cardio and weight bearing stuff. 2 x 5K runs/week, 1 x martial arts class (which I LOVE - it is the best stress reliever!), SHRED session for non running/martial arts days and lots of yoga fitted around as & when - especially after running. I'm old but do feel really fit. Best thing to do is to get a routine then it becomes weird not exercising.

Funkyslippers · 06/02/2019 15:21

I run around 5k twice a week, and do around a 20 min workout on the other days. Always try to have a rest day but it rarely happens

Wherearemymarbles · 06/02/2019 15:23

Cycle to work everyday which about 18 mile round trip.
Then an hour or so swimming once a week.

Funkyslippers · 06/02/2019 15:24

PS I'm able to do this as my kids are 10 and 15 so a bit more self-sufficient plus I only work 3 days a week and don't start till at least 10am so can work out first thing. Exercise is a priority for me as it's great for my mental health, sleep and obviously weight control. I've also recently started jumpfit once a fortnight which is great

LifeGetsInTheWay · 06/02/2019 15:27

A fair amount of right arm exercise ( lifting glasses of red wine to my parched lips). Also Pilates twice a week. I especially enjoy the bit where you get to
lie down.
