I absolutely love Martin Clunes! I fancy him so much even though he’s older than my dad. He’s just seems so nice and funny.
Anyone else?!

I used to live down the hall from him in a block of flats across from the Globe Theatre. Sadly that’s as far as this anecdote goes.

Norma27 · 05/02/2019 09:47

I used to know Neil Morrissey years ago in his Boon days. He was really lovely and down to earth.

WhentheRabbitsWentWild · 05/02/2019 09:47

Yes he seems genuine as PPs have confirmed .

Not my type in the fancying stakes but I enjoy Doc Martin when its on, even repeats , as I love the beautiful scenery .

BrinkPink · 05/02/2019 09:49

I was also thinking "oh no not Martin Clunes too!" when I saw the thread title. Phew!

Fairylea · 05/02/2019 09:51

He is a wonderful actor. So diverse and entertaining.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 05/02/2019 09:52

Did someone say "not fanciable"? I'm not so sure, you know ... Grin

I never used to fancy him but I saw a trailer for Manhunt and I was thinking "mmmm". He's one of those men who looks really good when older.

Patroclus · 05/02/2019 09:56

Yeah I love that hes a bit of a bad bastard(within reason) and doesnt give a shit what the media say. Hes also Jeremy Brett's nephew I think. Anybody related to Jeremy gets a free pass for life.

MorningsEleven · 05/02/2019 09:57

He's grown into his looks. He can do no wrong in my eyes.

EugenesAxe · 05/02/2019 10:08

Yeah I have always fancied him. I've seen him once in a bar, when he was in the audience at the same theatre production as me. I can't remember what it was (actually, might have been the Book of Mormon) but I remember completely invisibly swooning when I noticed it was him. He seemed very nice!

southeastdweller · 05/02/2019 10:11

I've been a big fan since the 80s when he was in a sitcom called No Place Like Home. He seems so down to earth in interviews as well and clearly adores his family.

EugenesAxe · 05/02/2019 10:11

Although his 'Does exactly what it says on the tin', salt-of-the-earth policeman accent in the recent Manhunt made me cringe so much I couldn't watch it. I don't know if it was all that bad, just that it was so incongruous with Mr Clunes.

HowlsMovingBungalow · 05/02/2019 10:13

He has a fayre on his land every year in Dorset.
Buckham fayre ( dog friendly obviously).

HTH Grin

Magicpaintbrush · 05/02/2019 10:16

I don't fancy him at all but I think he's an absolutely lovely person. If I was going to get stuck in a lift with someone I think I'd choose him, he seems so nice.

DobbinsVeil · 05/02/2019 10:16

I was queuing in a newsagents, Martin Clunes pushed to the front whilst on his phone, asked for a brand of cigarettes they didn't stock, then walked out again. This was about 20 years ago, but I have waited a long time to share this story Grin

VanillaSugarr · 05/02/2019 10:23

I was walking down Lower Regent Street about 25 years ago when our paths crossed. He was very young and still in his “awkward features” stage but ladies, in RL, he is SO much better looking!

His appearance with John Cleese on the Graham Norton Show is one of THE BEST EVER.

CaptainButtock · 05/02/2019 10:27

Yup.... he's lovely. Realised that as I watched him potter about in that boat being all amiable and charming

You just know he'd be nice to your dog and make you a cup of tea in the morning.

BelfortGabbz · 05/02/2019 10:30

I think he's great, very very nice but not in a sickly sweet way. Always has a naughty twinkle in his eye when interviewed.

Get the same vibe about David Baddiel - love him too.

HankNPat · 05/02/2019 10:32

No, that can't have been him, Dobbins Shock, I expect it was his Doppelgänger that YetAnotherSpartacus saw at a conference Grin Grin

Gilead · 05/02/2019 10:37

Apparently we used to play together as toddlers. (My parents knew his father). I don't remember it at all! Love him though.

RumbleDoll · 05/02/2019 10:37

Have met him a few times, funny and charming in real life.Shared fish and chips one evening. Phillipa was there, much prettier in RL, amazing eyes.

CoolCarrie · 05/02/2019 10:37

He is on tv tonight at 9 doing a programme about the islands of America, which looks interesting.
I remember he was in William And Mary, where he played a funeral director and Julie Graham, who played his wife , was a midwife, it was funny and sad.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 05/02/2019 10:39

That's what I think , too, HanhNPat

And if it wasn't, then he has obviously Seen The Error Of His Ways and is now A Reformed Character.

DobbinsVeil · 05/02/2019 10:56

Shock Excuse me, you may not take my only Sleb encounter HankNPat! I was with my dad who was Hmm at this person pushing in. I whispered who it was which meant nothing to my dad. I also exchanged rolly eyes with the cashier. He was having a tense sounding exchange on his phone, where he seemed to be trying to appease "Darling"

Can't believe I shared that story for free, it's obviously worth millions Grin

HankNPat · 05/02/2019 11:00

Hmm, OK then, Dobbins Grin
