Listening to Radio 4 at 12:00 today. Programme called The Unbelievable Truth, panellists trying to get 3 truths mixed with ridiculous lies past each other. At the end DM,who has always appeared benign, says which are which. One 'truth' was that wolf packs are lead by the chief sexual predator, fine. Then the foul mouthed fool added 'so are cubs' and by the sound of it a panellist or three tittered.
What a nasty double meaning. Yuk, yuk and yuk.
How dare he insult Scout and Cub leaders who have put up with enough? They are voluntary and give their time to making it possible for kids to have out of school activities and learn first aid and other useful skills.
I hope the BBC make him apologise loud and clear. A money contribution would be good too. Or could he be sued for slander.
I'm upset that a man like that makes grubby fun of people willing to help kids on a regular basis.

Jokes like this don't actually harm children. They do raise awareness and make people question why some people might volunteer to lead children's activities, like cubs or football coaching.

Paddy Kielty does some funny jokes about catholic priests. My mum hates them. But that’s because she’s licking the altar rails every Sunday and can see the priests do no wrong the rest of us are in touch with reality. So we laugh.

PS when the guides decided that the rights of teenage trans kids were more important that the safety of our young girls they lost a lot of support.

It's satire. Sometimes offensive, sometimes rude but it's comedy which always has an element of truth to it.

Comedy shouldn't be censored. Get over it.

As I know of two personally that have been accused/one convicted so far of historic offences it's sadly true. Btw he doesn't write the script. I heard the show and thought it was just a tongue in cheek remark just like the many levied at priests.

Let’s be real though, there have been scouting sex abuse cases. That’s what the topic of the joke was. I don’t like it as a joke myself, but I’m not holding the scouts up as a paragon of virtue when they’ve so very badly let kids down.

Few, I like DM and still can, thought for a moment there I would be changing my mind.

DH loathed his secondment to child abuse investigation as a young copper with a young child because 75% of crimes were perpetrated by people who deliberately sought to work or volunteer with children in order to groom and abuse them. We wondered wtf we had brought our baby into. I've met three serious abusers in 38 years. Two were scout leaders. One a youth football coach.

YABU. He's holding up a light on an uncomfortable truth.
