To go to the cinema alone

Is that sad? I have a day off this week and havent had a day (minus work) without my DS since he was born 16 months ago. I am debating going to see a movie and have a nice lunch somewhere but I will be alone. No idea whats even on mind!

I dont have many friends at all (almost zero in fact) and anyone I do know will be working.

Is that sad?

Nope it's bliss. Enjoy

JustAboutGettingBy · 01/02/2019 19:37

The last time I went to the cinema was to see the last Harry Potter movie I think 🙈

I go alone all the time.
Why is it sad to enjoy your own company?

Reccy2018 · 01/02/2019 19:38

I do it, love it!

Ragnarthe · 01/02/2019 19:38

I hope there is something good on for you

Watto1 · 01/02/2019 19:38

Not at all! I love going to the cinema on my own. I can choose the film and not have to listen to dh moaning.

Squigglesworth · 01/02/2019 19:38

Definitely not sad! I'd do it.

JustAboutGettingBy · 01/02/2019 19:38

Oh cool. I guess I mightve felt uncomfortable sat on my own. Albeit it will be in the day when most people are busy.

Maybe I will see whats on....any recommendations?

I do it all the time and it's the best! You won't regret it

nocoolnamesleft · 01/02/2019 19:39

Hang on, you mean some people don't seize the chance to go to the cinema on their own? Blimey, how weird.

FissionChips · 01/02/2019 19:39

I prefer to go alone, it’s perfectly normal.

JustAboutGettingBy · 01/02/2019 19:40

Yeah I guess as we havent been in ages I have lost touch with it. I'm all at a loss of what to do with the day tbh! In a good way of course

I did this a couple of months ago. Was great.

Singlenotsingle · 01/02/2019 19:40

Bohemian Rhapsody?
Stan and Ollie?

Lots of good films around ATM. I go sometimes on my own in the day while dp is at work. Bliss.

Aprilshowersarecomingsoon · 01/02/2019 19:41

Oh alone!!
Bliss!
Last time I took at least half a dozen dc!
And had to share my popcorn!!

Ragnarthe · 01/02/2019 19:41

Usually hardly anyone in except a few pensioners. Lovely and quiet without loads of people crunching etc

JustAboutGettingBy · 01/02/2019 19:42

Ooh yes snacks. Mmm. I feel guilty though lol as I will be leaving DS with the childminder. Already paid for though so I figured why not....

So recently I've seen :

Stan and Ollie
The Favourite
Vice
Mary, Queen Of Scots

Vice is only worth it if you are very up on American politics

Mary, Queen Of Scots, great acting a tad cheesy at times

Stan and Ollie belongs on BBC One on a Sunday, very nice but no more than that

The Favourite is brilliant but a bit unusual for some tastes.

JustAboutGettingBy · 01/02/2019 19:42

Oh good point. I hate people chewing.

AmbitiousHalibut · 01/02/2019 19:43

Oh my goodness I LOVE going to the cinema by myself! Enjoy.

chocolatepluswine · 01/02/2019 19:44

I do that, and I go to the theatre alone, too. I don't see why I shouldn't go, just because a certain film or play doesn't appeal to my friends.

Bohemian Rhapsody was great.

Hollipopsmum · 01/02/2019 19:47

I don’t work a Monday & our local cinema has cheap prices I go quite often it’s bliss. I really enjoyed A Star is born & Bohemian Rhapsody recently. I position myself in the back row with a nice coffee and a stash of tissues if it’s a weepie (😂). Enjoy your lunch too -take a good book & have some well deserved me time -it’s full on when you have a toddler x

Purpleartichoke · 01/02/2019 19:48

Love going to movies solo

LadyGrey66 · 01/02/2019 19:48

Yes 100% do it! To my mind the cinema isn’t an overly sociable outing anyway - you’ll have a great time.

Londonbum · 01/02/2019 19:48

When I first did this I couldn’t believe that I hadn’t done it years earlier. It’s literally the very best. As everyone else has said. They are right.
