Strange car - why???

ddodprob · 30/01/2019 17:04

First up am going to say this mystery is unlikely to be solved. But... I live on a private road and every day for the last week a car has parked up on the road (people in it but can’t make them out) twice a day for about five minutes and the driven off.

Background info - they don’t get out of the car, they don’t as far as I know live in any of the other houses- and even if they did why park up randomly twice a day and not get out, and yes - I do have too much time on my hands 😊

Are they from the DWP.

simonisnotme · 30/01/2019 17:07

Efferlunt · 30/01/2019 17:08

Career with break between appointments?

CantWaitToRetire · 30/01/2019 17:09

Is it the same times every day? What times do they arrive?

FridgeFullOfChocolate · 30/01/2019 17:10

Skiving off work or private investigator...

ddodprob · 30/01/2019 17:10

@awwlookatmybabyspider - I did think police stakeout but tbh - the only house they could clearly see would be mine ... Confused

Safe place to check phone for next appointment-estate agent, carer, some sort of engineer or repair person? DWP spy?

ddodprob · 30/01/2019 17:12

Not sure if the same times - but always twice between say 10am and before about 4ish. Today is the first day I’ve really thought about how puzzling it is - but will take better note if it carries on

Collecting someone?
Then dropping them again?

ddodprob · 30/01/2019 17:14

Today really had a nose and noticed that there were two people in the car both times but not sure about before - so think unlikely it’s someone skiving... I used to have that sort of job and would always be on my own.

ddodprob · 30/01/2019 17:15

@Bigonesmallone3 no one gets out! That’s what so weird - it’s near a postbox so assumed that they were posting letters then realised no one gets out... baffled!

I did this when DD was a baby. I had to drive round to get her to go to sleep then I'd park up somewhere quiet and cry go on my phone.

WellErrr · 30/01/2019 17:16

I’d ask but I’m like that 😂

adaline · 30/01/2019 17:18

Affair?

ddodprob · 30/01/2019 17:20

Adaline - if it is - it’s crap as they’re only ever there for a few minutes.

A crippling fear of post boxes..
He's bought his mates for moral support but not yet has he plucked up the courage to exit the car and post that god damn Xmas card to his DM

Birdsgottafly · 30/01/2019 17:22

If they are hoisting someone, or are Family Support Workers etc, there would be two of them.

Could be telly licence etc. Loads of things.

StoneofDestiny · 30/01/2019 17:23

Do you live near motorway - car share?

ddodprob · 30/01/2019 17:26

@Bigonesmallone3. Now that must be it Grin

Any houses for sale in your road? Maybe they're thinking of buying and popping along regularly to see how busy the road gets or if there are any nuisance neighbours.

CantWaitToRetire · 30/01/2019 17:29

So many things this could be. Perhaps a neighbour along the road has complained about dog fouling at particular times and they're doing spot checks to see if they can catch offending dog walker? Five mins is a short wait tho.

LordVoldetort · 30/01/2019 17:31

Does anyone go to the car? If so, I would suspect drug dealer

MrsMoastyToasty · 30/01/2019 17:35

Maybe they're burglars (crap ones obviously) watching the houses with a view to doing a break-in.
Go and tap on their window and act like the neighbourhood busy body.ask them if they realise it's a private road.

Anotheronebitesthefluff · 30/01/2019 17:42

Parking up to eat their drive through? I've done this with work and with baby in the car. Starving and needing some lunch before it gets cold.

Acrasia · 30/01/2019 17:44

Pokemon Go is a good shout. Download the app and see if there is a Gym/Pokestop at the postbox.
