Strange car - why???

First up am going to say this mystery is unlikely to be solved. But... I live on a private road and every day for the last week a car has parked up on the road (people in it but can’t make them out) twice a day for about five minutes and the driven off.

Background info - they don’t get out of the car, they don’t as far as I know live in any of the other houses- and even if they did why park up randomly twice a day and not get out, and yes - I do have too much time on my hands 😊

@lordvoldemort - that’s actually what caught my attention - car pulling up same time to me means drug dealers but as far as I can see no one going to car.

Without sounding like an ass - it’s a very “naice” road (houses to the side of mine are probs in excess of £5million - mine certainly isn’t), so unlikely to be dwp, checking for neighbours etc. Could he crap burglars - it’s quite rife here (though worrying as mine is pretty much the only hoise you can see clearly - others are sort of buried behind huge gardens - but my lounge is upstairs (a diagram would be handy but I don’t have pen lol). I still like the post Box phobia idea

Do people still play Pokemon go?!!

Chouetted · 30/01/2019 17:47

Pokemon Go (yes, it's very popular) or Ingress. Very normal behaviour in both circles.

yes, theres loads of people in my area
we had police turn up to the park on a community day I think someone thought there was going to be a riot Grin

Dextrodependant · 30/01/2019 17:51

BigOneSmallOne3 has obviously got it, the second person is the therapist though.

MummyTard · 30/01/2019 17:57

I do this! If I'm early to pick my kids up from school, I park a few streets away for about ten minutes, playing around on FB, and then when the time for the school bell to ring is up, I drive away. I must look suspicious, but I'm not doing anything wrong.

blackteasplease · 30/01/2019 18:03

My first thought was drug dealer. But if no one goes to the car they aren't doing much business.

Carer on a quick stop between appointments was my second thought. Maybe checking a post code? Or delivery driver doing similar.

BusySnipingOnCallOfDuty · 30/01/2019 18:04

They're a decoy!

They know you're watching, so every day at those times they stop there, so the real aliens can peep through your back windows checking for stray underwear while you're blissfully unaware, watching the car. Aliens love underpants.

TheQueef · 30/01/2019 18:04

Bailiffs.
Any balloons or bunches of flowers visible?

GalacticChickenShit · 30/01/2019 18:09

Can you see both doors clearly? Could one of them be having a sneaky fag?

GalacticChickenShit · 30/01/2019 18:10

Do bailiff typical greet customers with a "congratulations, you're fucked" type helium balloon? 😂

Annabk · 30/01/2019 18:15

Carers or cleaners parking up for a break after leaving client’s house?

LannieDuck · 30/01/2019 18:15

I immediately thought Pokemon Go too.

I used to pull up outside a nearby church after school so my kids could spin the poke stop. Could take 5 mins if you're catching any pokemon that are there. No need to get out of the car.

TheQueef · 30/01/2019 18:18

Marstens do.
Honest.
They park around the corner with a van or car, send one of them knocking with flowers or happy birthday balloons.
Turn up at the door with flowers for their victim and get name/address/occupancy for free, the tinkers.
I know this because they did it to me, twice.
I don't get to keep the flowers because when they stick em out saying Miss Smith I just say no Miss Queef and they run off Sad

ddodprob · 30/01/2019 18:21

Bloody hell - the flowers trick sounds awful from bailiffs!

OP posts:
GalacticChickenShit · 30/01/2019 18:21

Oh really? Fuck, that's sneaky!

How about a Wi-Fi hotspot?

Peachyk · 30/01/2019 18:22

Maybe district nurse quickly writing up notes? Most have to 'work agile' now which means writing up on a laptop for 5 mins before next apt!

slashlover · 30/01/2019 18:23

Is it definitely the same people? When I was having driving lessons, we'd park on a street for 5 or so minutes every so often just to have a little break, especially during a 2 hour lesson.

PenguinPandas · 30/01/2019 18:23

Watching if houses are occupied to burgle?

Though once I had police knock at my door to ask if I thought the neighbour at no 125 had been up to anything suspicious recently so possible police do watch. I said like terrorist activity and they said yes that's what they've been reported for. Hmm Just a Muslim family with child at private school as far as I knew and police said they thought same.

BeekyChitch · 30/01/2019 18:24

Me and my DM usually park up in random quiet places and just have a chat and enjoy the views, peace and quiet - could it be that if you have nice views?

TheQueef · 30/01/2019 18:32

It was pure co incidence we found out.
They mistook my brother doing a job outside for a contractor and they asked him who lived there.
The first time they tried the flowers my dad was walking the dog on a counter route to flowers guy. Now my Ddad already has seen flowers guy set off and only realises he came to our address afterwards. Being the helpful bored and nosey chap he is, the second time he saw car wait, get out flowers and then drive to the ginnel he tried to hurry up back. He didn't catch up with flowers guy but he noticed a bailiff I'd. Dads now turned into DIpensioner and tracked all sorts down.
We had returned all their letters, even had dealings with the original debter but they want Miss Smith.

DemelzaPoldarksshinerrefiner · 30/01/2019 18:37

Drug association not unlikely. There is a term of re- upping ( which basically means stock replenishment ) which would fit this scene - trusted drop off person to end seller/receiver. There wouldn’t be lots of activity to the car that’s the opposite of what they want to achieve.

We have had a dwp/inland revenue inspectorate stake out in our naice road.
