Not allowed to cut up pizza in Wetherspoons?

We were in Wetherspoons at the weekend having a cheap and cheerful lunch and my DN had a pizza.
We asked them if they could cut up her pizza for her because the last time it wasn’t and the waitress told us they weren’t allowed to anymore and don’t even have pizza cutters in the kitchen. We laughed as we assumed it was a joke but no when the pizza arrived it wasn’t cut up and the waitress said again that for health and safety reasons they weren’t allowed to use a pizza cutter, we asked if they could have used a knife and she said no. We were a bit Hmm
Then she came over with a very sharp steak knife and said we could cut it up ourselves with that if we wanted.

Is this a nationwide rule or is our local Wetherspoons a bit odd?

Also isn’t the owner of Wetherspoons desperate to get us out of the EU because of silly little rules like this?

Oh damn, I've never been to a Weatherspoons nor ever wanted to but if the owner is a Leaver I'm going to have to start going three times a day Grin

You've given me another reason refuse to go into a Weatherspoons ever again. DP used to insist on a full English breakfast the morning after a triathlon. After three of the damned things he was told that if he ever mentioned Spoons again, we were over. The first reasons were; staff stank of fags, the bar/dining room smelt of fags, we would eat our FEB in the little courtyard at the back - ground covered in fag butts and customers & staff would come out to smoke and in the limited space, we would end up stinking of fags. Customer service was. There was a much better place we found nearby, more expensive (sorry DP) but roomy & welcoming & well-behaved dogs were invited too.
Asking the chef to serve a pizza pre-cut into quarters was a tiny thing to do. But she couldn't be fagged.

Interestingly, there is a pizza cutter in the photo Grin

When I make pizza at home, I use scissors to cut it up, many people are horrified, but I firmly believe that they are one of the most underutilised kitchen implements and am prepared to die on that hill.

Same here 🙋🏾‍♀️ I have 3 pairs of "kitchen scissors". Use them for pizza (obvs) cutting fat off meat, snipping ds3 spaghetti, all sorts of things!

Plus, if you eat your pizza with a knife and fork, just be aware that is how Donald Trump eats his. I’m not saying you’re just like him...but it puts you in the same league obviously wink

Scissors Shock
I know it probably works well , but never know what mine have been used for , might end up with glue or glitter topping pizza Grin

I think you can get pizza scissors. Unless I dreamed about them (seems unlikely, not for a whole dream, but maybe for a pizza dream)...

Just to throw my twopenneth in, I've had pizza pre cut in Italian restaraunts.
I was also informed that Wetherspoons are stopping selling prosecco a bar man told me that, he said it was down to Brexit.

Our dominoes was precut tonight- I pretty much inhaled it... I love carbs

You can get scissors for bread - I thought I’d invented them until I was in a ME restaurant where they make huge sheets of flatbread and were cutting them into pieces with large scissors (like tailors ones).

Hellokittymania · 04/02/2019 09:24

The penguin PhD, it's very popular to use scissors to cut things in Vietnam too. Meat, long noodles, big pieces of tofu… Etc.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 04/02/2019 09:44

I invented it to know...
