I am so sick of this strange new phenomenon. It might even be worse than baby showers, at least you don't normally get people sending a million photos of those! What a ridiculous American (no doubt) thing to do - waste of cake, fake set-up pictures, expensive clothes bought specifically to be ruined...... ok rant over!

I envy you! Picture little people dressed in wedding clothes, sat in front of a giant cake which they are then encouraged to destroy for a tacky photo shoot!

@RayRayBidet it’s a thing some people do usually for the baby’s first birthday. They give them a cake to smash up and photograph them doing so/covering themselves with cake

Also hate the new trend of photo shoots for everything (almost always look like something that could have been taken on an iPhone camera and usually revolve around newborn shoots/pregnancy shoots/engagement etc etc).

They are shit, but I just roll my eyes and scroll on past. Ditto "gender reveals".

It’s so wasteful and the idea of destruction being something we do for fun is deeply unpleasant to me. It seems unwise to make the early link between smashing stuff up and fun to little kids.

I really don’t like deliberate destroying of food and someone work and I won’t not want to clean it up. I did blw and that was messy but because DD was learning and no way would I want/need to encourage her to make a bigger mess.

Engagement photos get me though, they are always fake and totally cheesy

A couple I know did a pregnancy photo shoot with them both naked from the waste up, he was covering her breasts with his hands and she had a ribbon round her bump - I was almost physically sick when they posted them for all to see on FB!
