My best was definitely Canada. Driving through the Rockies was an unforgettable experience and we got perfect weather and lots of lovely food and hotel stops along the way.

The worst has to be Dublin. I was really underwhelmed by it and found it crazy expensive.

I absolutely loved Dublin! However was there for 2 days one night so not too long

Best - Barcelona and Nepal. Both beautiful places.

Worst - Berlin, which I found very underwhelming!

Schmoobarb · 26/01/2019 15:51

Best - Slovenia (Lake Bled, Ljubljana, Lake Bohinj) and Italian Lakes

Worst - champagne region in France. Miserable, largely industrialised, largely populated by miserable dour bastards and vicious mosquitoes that bit and left a massive bruise as well!

vampirethriller · 26/01/2019 15:52

Best- Rome.
Worst- West highlands of Scotland.

Purplecatshopaholic · 26/01/2019 15:52

Love Spain and go every year to various parts, preferably less touristy. Also loved Belfast - the people are wonderful. Krakow was great too.
Did not like Portugal's Algarve - we got unlucky with the weather and it rained for a fortnight which probably blighted things somewhat. Went to non-touristy Portugal (inland near the Spanish border) a year or two later and it was great.

ravenmum · 26/01/2019 15:53

Best place Sa Riera / Begur in Spain. Was on the verge of breaking up from my ex and he was treating us awfully, but it was so gorgeous that I loved it anyway.

Worst place Concarneau in Brittany just after flooding and before the storm had really died down. Mainly as my glasses broke and I couldn't see it :)

SpeckledyHen · 26/01/2019 15:53

Best -Australia . A lifetime dream came true
Worst -Tenerife . We explored far and wide and I can’t think of a single thing to commend the place .

elQuintoConyo · 26/01/2019 15:55

I spent 2 summer months in Dublin many years ago, I remember practically nothing. Nothing sticks out. Apart from DH WinkGrin it was cold, not particularly pretty, met someone breathtakingly racist in a queue in M&S!

Loved:
Venice
Barcelona
Bilbao
San Francisco
Sicily
South France (Languedoc)

DonCorleoneTheThird · 26/01/2019 15:55

I am too picky to have a really bad holiday because I only go to places I know will work for us, or we just book a different accommodation at the last minute if something is not right.

I think the worst are linked to the season more than anything: any touristy place packed with tourists at peak season is my idea of hell - only tried them when invited to a wedding or something.

Impicciona · 26/01/2019 15:55

Worst - Wales
Best - Rome

thismeansnothing · 26/01/2019 15:55

Best :- Cuba, also Cornwall

Worst :- Egypt

brizzledrizzle · 26/01/2019 15:56

Best: Iceland
Worst: Rhodes

MeltingWax · 26/01/2019 15:58

Am just tip-toeing in to say I flipping love Dublin.

I was 21 the first time I went and massively into Irish history. I was just so excited to be standing in places I had only read about. I spent 3 days visiting museums and just walking around. I had a fab time. Happy days.

AlpacaLypse · 26/01/2019 16:01

Best, on balance, Barcelona, although Canadian Rockies deserve an honourable mention. Worst, Bournemouth!

SilverySurfer · 26/01/2019 16:01

Best:

Venice - the most magical place (preferably in the winter)
Mauritius - I won a competition - 5 star hotel - perfect place for a beach holiday.
Albufera, Portugal in the early 1960s when it was a fishing village with boats on the beach
North Wales - Snowdonia etc

Worst:

Chalet holiday in Majorca in 1960s.

Albufera, Portugal about 10 years ago. It had been cemented over and every square inch of land filled with hotels.
Paris - overrated, rude people
Dublin - overrated and over-priced

CrabbityRabbit · 26/01/2019 16:01

Best - Cornwall. I just love it to bits. Last time we went was in June during the glorious heatwave and it was immense.

Worst - Costa del Sol in a resort near Fuengirola. Miserable weather, dull and with a boyfriend I broke up with when we returned.

timetoriseandshine · 26/01/2019 16:02

Australia has to be my fav ever place, Cornwall the most boring time of my life!

timetoriseandshine · 26/01/2019 16:02

Oh and Tenerife is pretty vile too

NaturalBornWoman · 26/01/2019 16:02

Calvi, Corsica was a highlight- tiny apt in the citadel, we ate some amazing food, lovely little train that goes around the bay to all the quiet beaches. I've had some amazing holidays in Turkey too, Datca, Kas, Yalikavek, gulet cruising. Granada. Lots of Italian holidays. Greek islands. love holidays. I didn't enjoy Dubrovnik really but we had poor weather and hotel wasn't up to scratch. It is quite lovely. Oh, and Santorini was a bit disappointing, not awful but not as nice as I expected.

KitKat1985 · 26/01/2019 16:03

Best - Florida is amazing if you like theme parks and are looking for a 'family fun' holiday rather than anything cultural. Malta is stunning for culture and history. And Cyprus is beautiful with loads of history and entertainment available.

Worst - I have nothing against Spain in the main, but I did find Costa Del Sol very touristy and full of con artists. I didn't like Paris much, full of rude people and concrete ugly buildings. Morocco was just dirty and you are constantly hounded by beggars. Istanbul was just full of sleezy men are you couldn't walk anywhere without being constantly hounded.

FrenchyQ · 26/01/2019 16:04

PEI in Canada is my best....the snowy weather made it so beautiful.

Dont think i've ever had a really bad holiday...bar maybe Dawlish Warren when i was little, my sister ate too many banana fritters and was really unwell in our caravan lol

TwoleftUggs · 26/01/2019 16:06

Best - Lapland in winter. Hands down the most beautiful scenery ever. Also Interlaken and surrounding areas in Switzerland.
Worst - Equal between Portugal and Tenerife.

LemonGirl · 26/01/2019 16:06

Paris. Never want to return. In fact 8ve even turned down a free weekend away there. The Parisians were vile, rude and arrogant. No matter how courteous we were they were nothing short of vile. Never will return.
Singapore is my favourite place in the whole world. Just has such a lovely vibe and so clean. Locals friendly and welcoming. Complete opposite to Paris in every way.

Clionba · 26/01/2019 16:09

True about Paris. Really filthy and overpriced. The rudest people and the most churlish waiting staff.

Blooger · 26/01/2019 16:10

Worst: Hong Kong
Best: Pembrokeshire, St Petersburg (Russia), and various places in California (more for the people we met than the charm of the place, though the gorgeous weather helped)

PinkysEars · 26/01/2019 16:10

I might scratch Dublin off my list of places to visit...

Best: West Coast of Scotland, Florence & Umbria, Cornwall, Amsterdam

Worst: Brussels, Dorset.
