Best and worst place you have been on holiday to?!

My best was definitely Canada. Driving through the Rockies was an unforgettable experience and we got perfect weather and lots of lovely food and hotel stops along the way.

The worst has to be Dublin. I was really underwhelmed by it and found it crazy expensive.

Urgup

Absolutely amazing place! I was there in my early 20's when it was totally uncommercialised, we'd driven my Alanya which was a brilliant experience. We stayed in a tiny place called Nar. Definitely a highlight of my years of travelling. Also been to Cesme when it was literally no more than one dusty street. We travelled a fair bit in Turkey as we had friends who lived there. Not sure I'd like to go back these days as I want to keep the memories of it being literally tourist free and unspoiled.

There’s lots to do in Dublin.

Problem is people get sucked in by the cheesey tourist stuff that gets advertised. Like the “Irish Dancing” at the Arlington and drinking in Temple Bar.

I can't think of a truly rubbish holiday either. Spent a week in a musty caravan in south Wales in the rain. All beach photos feature plastic macs. It was gorgeous and we found a huge toad under a rock :) best holiday ever!

That wasn’t the problem for me. I think my expectations were too high. I was expecting Dublin to be beautiful and I found it to be very ordinary and dirty and rough.

I’m surprised so many people dislike Paris. It is so beautiful and I have never found the people unfriendly.

Best: Ecuador
Worst: Marrakesh

Same, we didn’t expect or get sucked into cheesy touristy stuff in Dublin. But it still remains it’s in decline and quite poor.

I have loads of great holidays but only one really bad one and that was to Yorkshire.

Forgot, we went on one holiday that started off badly and turned out great! We booked a "chalet" down in Hythe kent, which when we arrived was grim. It was sooo bad, we ended up in Hysterics.Grin.
Went to reception and complained, but ended up making the receptionist laugh by making jokes about how grim it was. Got moved to luxury accommodation a couple of days later. The woman in front of us was similarly complaining, but she was kicking off so had to wait an extra couple of days to move. Sometimes it pays to be nice. Great base for exploring South coast and we had a couple of trips over Channel for day to Bruges and Northern France.

Also loved Warsaw. I used to live in New York. Fab place, but heard its become very expensive now.

Am sad that Dublin is being knocked on this thread so often but not surprised.
The authorities are soft on crime and many of the tourist areas are near areas known for drug use and criminal behaviour Sad
I sometimes want to shout out to tourists from my car - Be careful of your handbag/ rucksack /camera etc.
