To be driven mad by a mysterious beep

We’ve got a beep. It’s driving me insane..... it’s not regular and we thought it had gone away once we heard the ‘death beep’. No such luck.... I’ve checked the smoke alarms, they are mains powered and have been updated...... I can’t even locate where the noise is coming from.....

I wasn't dreaming! Our beep is the electronic thermometer in the back of the bathroom cabinet asking for a new battery.

My money is on a carbon monoxide detector in the loft.

Well- I still can’t find the beep- I can’t get into the loft to look.... there is hardly any loft, so it’d have to have been a ninja who put it up there..... we’ve nothing stored. I will get DH to look but he’s away this week. I’ve ordered a new CO detector, as a PP said, I don’t want to take the risk that that is what it actually is and we’re slowly being poisoned.

I’ve barely heard the beep, so either I’m getting used to it, or it’s getting harder to find
