DH is in love with the name Bo for a boy. Thing is I personally do not like the other spelling of Beau but have concerns about Bo - can hear kids teasing calling B.O etc. I do like the name though. Would you go ahead with the Bo spelling or are there any other suggestions please?

He’s not going to get teased about his name meaning ‘body odour’ (here in the UK) until he’s at least 12. Boys mature slower than girls, he won’t be smelly until he’s out of junior school playground teasing anyway.

And by that time, Bo will sound like a cool name at secondary.

Ultimately, in a sea of everyone trying to bestow ‘unique’ names on their babies, Bo is quite inoffensive. I don’t mean that in a derogatory way.
I always respond to these baby names posts because I make name signs so see all sorts.

What stands out is your husband is American, and I immediately think of the name Bo as being American.

Being a LOT older than you, OP, I can tell you that names go round and round in trends. You can’t tell what will become popular or ridiculous.

Personally I’d suggest a more substantial name on the birth certificate, to give him options. Then call him what you like.

Beauden is where the name Beau originates.

Could you name him that and have Beau/Bo as a nickname?

Writersblock2 · 24/01/2019 00:50

I think Bo is beautiful.

NameChangeNugget · 24/01/2019 01:04

Really don’t like it. I think he’d get ripped at school. It’s cute maybe, for a toddler

HRFT, But what about Bodhi?

llangennith · 24/01/2019 01:24

No for a girl. Beau (if you must) for a boy.

llangennith · 24/01/2019 01:24

Duh! Should've said Bo for a girl...
