DH is in love with the name Bo for a boy. Thing is I personally do not like the other spelling of Beau but have concerns about Bo - can hear kids teasing calling B.O etc. I do like the name though. Would you go ahead with the Bo spelling or are there any other suggestions please?

What on earth makes people think that kids will tease him less if it's spelled a different way? Kids don't care about the spelling, just the sound. Don't name your child Bo.

JacquesHammer · 23/01/2019 12:30

Beauden with Bo as a shortening?

Fightingfit2019 · 23/01/2019 12:30

Pick a different name

BeanTownNancy · 23/01/2019 12:32

What about Robert with Bo for short, like Bo Burnham?

Dotty1970 · 23/01/2019 12:32

Don't do it... He will get picked on I'm sure.... My first dog was called bo

Racecardriver · 23/01/2019 12:33

I wouldn’t be too concerned about teasing. If he is the kind of child that attracts bullies then a name like Henry or Jack won’t help him. However I do wonder how someone issupppsed to grow into a name like Bo.

mumtobabygilrl · 23/01/2019 12:33

lovw Bo Burnham although not the reason for considering the name choice

Beauden
Beaumont

Beau for short.

Not keen myself. 🤷🏼‍♀️

TidyDancer · 23/01/2019 12:35

Oh god don't do it OP. I know someone who has a girl called Beaux and the surname begins with O. Not a good idea.

GalacticChickenShit · 23/01/2019 12:36

Just call him rainbow, nn bo.

Might as well.

AriadnePersephoneCloud · 23/01/2019 12:41

Haha its was my nickname (family only) and I never told my friends because of the BO thing. Sorry OP I don't think you should do it.

flamingofridays · 23/01/2019 12:41

I know a Boaz, Bo for short... He is 4.

WaitroseCoffeeCostaCup · 23/01/2019 12:42

It's the girl spelling. Beau is beautiful and looks much nicer than Bo.

FlyingwithBaby · 23/01/2019 12:43

No!
Bodie is cool though and could be shortened.

thatmustbenigelwiththebrie · 23/01/2019 12:45

Surely a girl can't be called "Beau"? It's a male adjective. She'd be "Belle"

Jaxhog · 23/01/2019 12:45

Noooo! But then I hate Bo Selecta.

Beau maybe, but Bo - No! Or if you do, please give him some alternative middle names.

Marcipex · 23/01/2019 12:46

Boden
Bodie
Bowie

But not just Bo.

sola82 · 23/01/2019 12:46

Some people seem to forget that the baby they are naming is going to grow up into an adult. Names that might seem cute on a young child won't necessarily work when they are older.
Please don't name your DS Bo, or if you do, give them a decent middle name so they can choose to use that instead.

Missingstreetlife · 23/01/2019 12:47

Boris, like bo jo. If it's a family name it's fine, give them a middle name as well. Kids will take the p out of anything but if you are confident it doesn't matter.

I think people will be confused.

According to the internet, Beau is short for Beauregard, but Bo is also short for Bowie, Boden and Boyd.

I'd give him a full name even if you use Bo for short. Of the options above Boden sounds nicest to my ear.

Congratulations.

gentlyscented · 23/01/2019 12:50

What about using bo as a nickname?

Bobby
Brogan
I know a little boy called boag too and he's nn is bo

cjt110 · 23/01/2019 12:51

You can spell a name however you want... My son's name is an alternate but less common spelling of the common way. There is a female, male and neutral spelling of the name and we chose the neutral one.

For what it's worth, if you like it, go with it, if not as others have said, use it as a middle name or nickname

InfiniteVariety · 23/01/2019 12:51

The only Bo I know is a girl
