To think that opening four tins of tuna is stressful and DH is BU?

NCd for this, obviously.
AIBU to think that opening four tins of oily tuna is stressful? You get smelly oily tunaoil all over your hands , then you have to drain it into the sink (that also gets all oily), the tin opener gets oily and tuna-y and worst of all you have to wash the oil and tuna bits out the tins and lids. I asked DH to open them for me and he said I was being a snowflake! Who is right? He said I should ask Mumsnet.

YABU for buying tuna in oil. Bleugh!

The sane option is to buy the one in spring water and then add your own oil once you have fought the tins.

waxy1 · 19/01/2019 15:04

Older school tin opener.

marvellousnightforamooncup · 19/01/2019 15:07

Very stressful OP. Go to the GP and get signed off tuna duty then book a spa day.

Oily fishy fuckers!

AdaColeman · 19/01/2019 15:08

Stop pouring oil down the sink plughole. Eventually you will get a blocked drain as the oil collects and solidifies.

A blocked drain will be much more stressful than opening a tin of tuna.

XmasPostmanBos · 19/01/2019 15:16

Well I agree its not the nicest job in the world but why should your dh do it instead?
Next time why not buy some houmous for lunch. Don't make your own as you may find it too stressful opening the chickpeas.

Poloshot · 19/01/2019 15:16

Is this a wind up?

romathehippo · 19/01/2019 15:23

YABU haha. Yesterday however a can did take me a long time to open and it suddenly came back on my hand and sliced it open. So if you were me yesterday you’d probably be having to have a day off or something.

XiCi · 19/01/2019 15:25

Can't understand why anyone would not buy no drain tuna

Youmadorwhat · 19/01/2019 15:25

A pain in the arse?....yes stressful!!???....NO YABU and a snowflake!!

SassitudeandSparkle · 19/01/2019 15:27

The oil in the tuna tin does not solidify, how is it going to block the pipes? It's not solid in the tin!

Anyway - to drain tuna, two small holes in lid opposite each other with tin opener. Balance tin so oil drains out of one hole into sink. Remove lid with tin opener and drain any remaining oil. Enjoy tuna.

howabout · 19/01/2019 15:30

The oil isn't solid but it sticks to the solid mass already in the fatberg and also helps to bind in any other solids - same for anything not water soluble.

DaveGrohlsBeard · 19/01/2019 15:35

No I am not a cat
That’s exactly what a cat would say.
I needed four tins as I have a lot of children.
Kittens
Not worried about the fatberg, dispose of my own sewage.
Litter tray

Admit it OP, you’re a cat.

XmasPostmanBos · 19/01/2019 15:45

You dispose of your own sewage but can't handle a little tuna oil?

bsc · 19/01/2019 15:45

Four cans?
Wow. Do you have 16 children?

Billben · 19/01/2019 15:46

Christ, wish I had your stresses OP 😂

Madein1995 · 19/01/2019 15:46

Yuck tuna 😁 (misses point of thread entirely). I can't stand 'fishy' fish ie tuna, mackerel, salmon etc. The smell just turns me.

tillytrotter1 · 19/01/2019 15:48

If you find this 'stressful' I'd hate to know how you would cope with something mildly serious! BTW if you don't buy cheap tuna they have a ring pull and are no drain. Who buys tuna in oil anyway. yuck!

ReaganSomerset · 19/01/2019 15:52

@waxy1

Maybe try the tinyurl website?

First world problem Confused

almutasakieun · 19/01/2019 15:55

I'm with DaveGrohlsbeard. It's a cat posting about kittens. The tuna will get in her fur. She'll have to spend extra time grooming. Daddy cat is of course unconcerned. And trying to open a tin of tuna with paws, is a nightmare in fairness.
OP, LTB (if he is really your DH - I'm guessing he's riding half the village and has humans feeding him everywhere).

XmasPostmanBos · 19/01/2019 15:59

If this is a cat, my mum's cat solves this problem by constant loud meowing until she finally gets him some tuna. He then bites her on the arm if she puts it down a bit too slowly.

almutasakieun · 19/01/2019 16:01

OP has 52 kittens squealing at her and Daddy cat who has already been fed elsewhere.

Op, you need to find a human.
