To ask if you’d vote differently if we had second referendum?

Bizzle123 · 18/01/2019 21:02

I’ve read threads about how people would vote in a second Brexit referendum. But it’s more interesting - and more relevant - to know if many people have actually changed their minds. So, are there any “leavers” who would now vote remain and vice versa? What are your reasons?

@Fantastiqueangel
Are you sure you’re an adult?

You do know some, they just wouldn’t tell you! Grin

After refusing to answer for a long time.

I would be happy to remain in the common market, but outside of the political base.

There is more but I am not prepared to open myself to the usual vitriol that follows.

How2makethisbetter · 18/01/2019 23:02

Yeah, I think our politicians couldn't organise a piss up in a brewery.

Think I'm mostly just shocked that they couldn't even try to work together to get us out of this mess. I cannot think of a single one that is lying their own personal feelings aside and trying to do their best for their constituents/country.

NowYouHaveDoneIt · 18/01/2019 23:03

Voted leave and would again.

How2makethisbetter · 18/01/2019 23:05

Ivegotthree · 18/01/2019 23:05

No. I voted to leave and would do the same again.

username7000 · 18/01/2019 23:05

Remain and would vote remain again.
No to another vote ridiculous idea it's like shall we alll vote to bring back hanging .

Sorting out how we were going to leave, what we were going to bargain for. Should have taken, well as long as it took.

And the politicians should have had the balls to tell the EU that we would trigger article 50 in our own time, when we were ready and not be coerced/forced/talked in to it.

Fantastiqueangel · 18/01/2019 23:06

I am quite sure, but just right now I am furious at the mess we've been plunged into, and for our children too. I'm being a little bit tongue in cheek and hyperbolic about the politeness, and I'm actually more furious at the politicians of all persuasions. But knowing that all the pressing issues facing our country in health, welfare and economy have been completely derailed for the past two years, with further disruption ahead makes me so cross.

ThereWillBeAdequateFood · 18/01/2019 23:07

Thanks boney I won’t ask more. Appreciate you answering

How2makethisbetter · 18/01/2019 23:07

I've also lost all trust in what they say, and don't really know what to believe anymore. They can't all be right.

StarUtopia · 18/01/2019 23:09

Bad things about the EU

I voted Leave and would vote Leave again. The EU is a corrupt old boys club that's about to implode anyway. 751 MEP's on £110k PA for starters. It's disgraceful.

What we have messed up is the actual exit (understatement) We should have just left.

Typical Mumsnet post though made up of mainly Remainers !

ThereWillBeAdequateFood · 18/01/2019 23:09

Yeah, I think our politicians couldn't organise a piss up in a brewery

They can’t even agree which brewery to attempt to have a piss up in

badlydrawnperson · 18/01/2019 23:11

@Fantastiqueangel Anyone who voted Tory voted for all this.

Cathmidston · 18/01/2019 23:15

Leave before...and 100% leave again

BoneyBackJefferson · 18/01/2019 23:16

badlydrawnperson

given the manifestos of the various parties anyone that voted and didn't spoil their ballot voted for this. Very few parties put forward a remain stance in the last election.

Rodenhide · 18/01/2019 23:19

I'm not entirely sure how another vote would be undemocratic. You may still vote for whatever you want, no one's being forced to change and it would ( bar the comparatively small percentage of people who are now of voting age and those who have died since the last vote) be the same people voting. Now, however, people are more aware of the facts. I think a lot of people were unsure what Brexit would entail before. At least now they'd be walking into this eyes open.

RedWineIsFabulous · 18/01/2019 23:19

Oh there are lots of posters who say they refuse to marry/ befriend/ talk to / etc etc a person if they were of a different political viewpoint to them.

Get a life I say.

badlydrawnperson · 18/01/2019 23:20

@BoneyBackJefferson

Sorry I forgot the snap election that TM promised not call - I meant the one before. Tory manifesto commitment to a referendum - that's where the ultimate fault lies.

I didn't vote for a referendum (as I didn't vote Tory), but I did feel obliged to vote once one was called. We wouldn't have had any of this if enough people had not voted for the Cameron Tories.

badlydrawnperson · 18/01/2019 23:22

@RedWineIsFabulous I agree and I am pleased that I know quite a few leave and remain voters. The few people who can't be my friend due to how I voted never were proper friends.

How2makethisbetter · 18/01/2019 23:24

Lol. Very true, ThereWillBeAdequateFood.

I also don't think Cameron should've been allowed to walk away from dealing with it either.

BoneyBackJefferson · 18/01/2019 23:25

badlydrawnperson

TBH, I don't think that he was ever going to honour that pledge. Its just that he had a strop at the EU and threatened them, and on return his party didn't back him (on his EU stance) so he had a referendum anyway to show who had the power.

Just my take on it, but basically we are here because of a school boy strop.

badlydrawnperson · 18/01/2019 23:27

@Rodenhide

Would you ask the same question as it's more or less the same people voting now we have "the facts"?

badlydrawnperson · 18/01/2019 23:29

@BoneyBackJefferson True, but when you vote for a party there's always a risk, however slight of them actually honouring one or more of their manifesto commitments.

I wonder how many of the people whining about the referendum actually voted for it? Must be a significant proportion I reckon.

redredvino · 18/01/2019 23:32

I didn't vote. I would bore to remain
