To ask if you’d vote differently if we had second referendum?

Bizzle123 · 18/01/2019 21:02

I’ve read threads about how people would vote in a second Brexit referendum. But it’s more interesting - and more relevant - to know if many people have actually changed their minds. So, are there any “leavers” who would now vote remain and vice versa? What are your reasons?

Leave and leave again- as would every other leave voter I know. Most leave voters are more angry that it's being questioned and wouldn't change their mind despite what they say when questioned.

I know remainers who'd vote leave - this whole case has shown the EU in terrible light.

Leave will defo win but i expect similar margin again. I don't believe they'll be another referendum anyway as the country is still split 50/50 so there's no point repeating for such marginal difference. There's not enough call for it

raver123 · 18/01/2019 21:35

Voted leave still leave only now I'm angry I wanted out and this is turning into a diluted version of leave not what I voted for.

Mysterian · 18/01/2019 21:39

Yes.

Tanfastic · 18/01/2019 21:40

Voted leave. Would do so again.

badlydrawnperson · 18/01/2019 21:41

People are really worried.

And 20 threads a week asking how we'd vote in another referendum are helping them how exactly?

HateIsNotGood · 18/01/2019 21:42

Leave before and Leave again - how about you Biz - care to answer your own question?

Chocolatedeficitdisorder · 18/01/2019 21:42

I know remainers who'd vote leave - this whole case has shown the EU in terrible light.

In what way? As far as I can see they're only protecting the interests of their organisation and their members, just as you would expect them to do. The UK has a choice, remain, take the offered deal or go it alone. The EU has stated their case and the ball is in our court now.

I voted remain, along with 65% of my countryfolk and would absolutely vote remain again. I want my children to grew up as members of the EU with all the benefits that a large community brings. If we end up outside the EU I will be voting for Scottish independence at the first possible opportunity so I have some chance of rejoining the EU.

Rodenhide · 18/01/2019 21:43

Voted remain, would vote remain again.
@Buttercup, how exactly has this reflected badly on the EU? It's our own politicians who've made a giant cock up of it.

People are really worried. If you’re not interested just don’t click on it.

ODFOD.

Its the same response over and over again.

So let me ask you this >

What is the definition of insanity?

badlydrawnperson · 18/01/2019 21:47

If we end up outside the EU I will be voting for Scottish independence at the first possible opportunity so I have some chance of rejoining the EU.. Good luck with that. I am in favour of Scottish independence, but I don't see the EU tripping over themselves to welcome you back if we ever leave.

ilovesooty · 18/01/2019 21:47

Remain before, remain again. Absolutely nothing would convince me that I should change my mind.

I just hope that if there is a second referendum remain campaign more effectively this time.

BoneyBackJefferson · 18/01/2019 21:49

I just hope that if there is a second referendum remain campaign more effectively this time.

they are politicians they don't learn ever. It would be the same bullshit rhetoric again.

HerondaleDucks · 18/01/2019 21:50

I voted remain and would again.
I am still surprised they offered us a deal, you can't leave a club and retain the perks. It was always going to be in or out, the country voted out. I've resigned myself to the country returning to pre war type mentality with no nhs, no welfare state, no pensions, no social housing and crippling poverty.
Call it project fear... I call it a healthy dose of reality. Have already started looking into medical insurance to accompany my life insurance. There will be riots either way come March... it's a 50 50 split, no one is ever going to be happy.

SheRaTheAllPowerful · 18/01/2019 21:53

Remain still remain

However a lot of my family voted leave, some would def change their vote to remain.

Chocolatedeficitdisorder · 18/01/2019 21:54

Good luck with that. I am in favour of Scottish independence, but I don't see the EU tripping over themselves to welcome you back if we ever leave.

I agree, I expect it will be a long, drawn-out process but I do hope that they're sympathetic to the fact that the Scots never wanted to leave in the first place.

Bizzle123 · 18/01/2019 21:55

**Hatels I’m remain and still remain. I’d like a second referendum if there’s been a meaningful shift in opinion but I don’t know many people who have changed their mind, hence my question. Agree with pp that it does depend on what question is actually asked. I don’t think they could just ask a simple in / out question again.

Thanks for all your replies, very interesting.

I voted leave but would probably vote remain this time.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 18/01/2019 21:58

I voted leave, would possibly vote remain. Probably wouldn’t vote. But I know no other leavers who have changed their minds, if anything they’ve hardened their view. And two family youngsters too young to vote last time in our family are staunch leavers.

I don’t buy this huge change of populace minds; (although I might do personally)

Lankyloo · 18/01/2019 21:59

I voted leave and If we had to vote again I'd still vote leave.

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 18/01/2019 22:02

Leave would win again, margin probably round about the same as last time

What makes you think this?

I would vote remain again as would dh, ds1 would vote remain for the first time but would in effect be replacing his nans vote which was also remain

I think leave would lose this time...though ive nothing solid to base it on. But i think it would again be such a narrow margin that it still wouldn't be conclusive IYSWIM

Sidelook · 18/01/2019 22:04

I voted leave. We live in a democracy and that should be the end of it.

User758172 · 18/01/2019 22:10

Voted to Remain, bitterly regret it. Will vote to Leave if asked again.

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 18/01/2019 22:11

We live in a democracy and that should be the end of it

Its cos we live in a democracy that we can keep on voting

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 18/01/2019 22:12

Not that I particularly want another referendum

ThereWillBeAdequateFood · 18/01/2019 22:14

What is the definition of insanity

Doing the same thing repeatedly expecting a different result.

Which is why just sticking Remain / Leave on the ballot paper would be a stupid idea, I’m pretty sure no ones suggesting that. If there is another referendum it actually has to state what kind of Brexit people are voting for.
