...and how much exercise you got?

Very interested to hear what amount and type of food people's daily diet consists of,and whether it's obviously a lot more or less than I eat, or more nutritious or not.

I had a day without exercise so far, total consumption two slices of home-bake bread, a cup large mug of tea, and 2 x that of coffee.

Planning to eat a jacket pot for dinner now, with beans and a little grated cheese. Oh, and an orange for breakfast.

I am a few stone overweight, from Christmas excesses, but steadily losing it. (Not mentally, I mean weight!) Grin

Yeah, smother Grin we use it on all sorts : yogurt, ice cream, on its own, in smoothies, on roast pork, DH has it on toast, the kids eat it for dessert with Granola ...

24lbs of apples turned into apple sauce. Should last a few days at least....

Smotheroffive · 24/01/2019 00:59

Just no! Why can't I fathim 24lbs, like one and half stone of apples. Is that many? How many, like a hundred apples or something, or more, to peel, core and chop and cook. Do you have a machine to do this, is it called halfwitpicker?!

OP posts:
Smotheroffive · 24/01/2019 01:01

...and how many pints of sauce? Where do you get them all...and have you found a good value/quality source...so many questions!

OP posts:
Smotheroffive · 24/01/2019 01:03

How do you even manage to carry such a huge quantity with all your other shopping, or do you have them delivered by the sack load? But how long does it take to peel etc...do you peel etc?

Lol at the questions!

Apples :

24lbs ($4.00 per bag, 6 lbs in a bag, 4 bags ). Live abroad where apples are very cheap and plentiful!

Chop each apple into quarters. No need to peel or core. Put in a massive pan. Add 2 inches of water. Simmer till apples are soft (half an hour). I did 4 large pans full of apples.

Put apples into a (en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Foodmill) foodmill, once it's all been pushed through its completely smooth, no pips or skin etc. You can use a food mill to puree all sorts of stuff, veg, tomatoes etc. Probably rendered in total about 15 pints of apple sauce, approximately.

I've attached a pic of the finished product, but only because it's you, smotheroffive! As you can see it's pink : because the apples were red, and unpeeled!

Hope this link works....

Smotheroffive · 25/01/2019 00:05

Oh my, wow! Still wow, 15 pints of apple sauce! How awesome, I do have a similar thing that pushes product through a seive, saving the back of wooden spoon across seive exercise, to strain things!

Thank you @halfwitpicker Grin

Not much variation on yesterday, except it has been a hungry day

2 eggs on 2 small slices of toast with reduced fat butter

Tomato soup (tin)
Half pot of mango

Funsize twix and banana

Fajitas

Madein1995 · 27/01/2019 11:15

Friday

Toast, coffee

Chicken and bacon wrap
Yogurt, honey and raspberries
Bag of pufts

Banana

Stir fry (leftovers)

Then it went a bit skewiff 😂 had a tiny WW biscuit while out walking, had a small bowl of the new halo top candy ice cream that tastes like snickers, then had a bag of pop chips , well ww version of, and 37g chocolate pretzels

Not amazingly healthy 😀 but enjoyable. One thing I like about WW is the weekly points, so I can afford to have a bit of a blow out on a weekend

Sat

Fudge and chocolate chip hot cross buns with scraping of butter

Options hot chocolate post walk (got soaked in rain and dog refused to go any further in sulk so had to carry the cantankerous bugger the last half mile home, she hates rain)

Went out with friends for coffee and had an americano with semi skimmed milk. Resisted all nice cakes and instead took a ww bar. Did buy a chocolate chunk cookie for whenever.

Homemade turkey burger with slice of cheese on top and roast peppers, in a roll, with sweet potato fries (weighed out), salad and ketchup

Then had 1/4 of the chocolate chunk cookie, dad had the other 1/4 and I have half left

Not the most shining example of health this weekend, limited on the fruit and veg.

Am craving real food now, not junk. Breakfast was eggs on toast. Snack I have satsumas, grapes and mango, and am drinking more water. Lunch is a wrap, probably yogurt and honey. May have pufts, may not. Tea is a lamb tagine. Not decided whether to have rest of cookie, kit kat or nothing, for evening snack. Will see how I feel

Madein1995 · 27/01/2019 11:29

Mind you, I did resist a Domino's Friday and a Chinese takeaway Saturday, when my parents were getting it. The smell was lush but I resisted , am proud. Will still have dominos 😀 but atm I can't afford it and I want to see it as a special occasion thing, not an I can't be arsed cooking, thing

No breakfast or lunch and then Homemade cottage pie, carrots and peas and homemade blackberry and apple crumble and custard for dinner. Walked the dog three miles earlier and will be doing similar in about five minutes.

Smotheroffive · 27/01/2019 18:07

Tbh, 1995 I have gone off pizza, and Chinese, so that wouldn't be a hard to resist for me, because they are both so loaded with salt and flavourings, not fresh seeming. Both things I used to love! Funny how tastes change according to what one eats! eventually
