Just that really, I love reading classics but thought I'd see if anyone remembered any others that we particularly funny/shocking/ full of CFs etc...

OP posts:
ABigBraclet · 20/01/2019 13:52

Thanks, that's the one.

SilverySurfer · 20/01/2019 15:59

I've never experienced anything like the threads on here but I do have a bad feeling whenever Cesar Millan comes on my TV screen. He stars in a Pick TV show called Dog Whisperer and I always immediately have to change channels. I get the feeling that he is not very kind to the dogs apart from anything else.

I feel pretty stupid typing that, but I just can't watch him. Does anyone else feel the same or is it just me being daft?

Waydugo · 20/01/2019 17:14

ALittleCrisp is that the thread with the story about the girl seeing that guy in a nightclub then going back there years later and seeing him again but he hadn’t aged at all? That seriously put the wind up me. I often think about it.

Bumble1830 · 20/01/2019 20:28

Ive just started the link about The Savernake Forest, I think I read about half way down of the first page, then got freaked out and stopped reading lol. Stories like this fascinate me, but...Jeez, they're scarey .

BartonHollow · 20/01/2019 20:32

I remember the night club story! Messed up. Also the people at the holiday cottage who

  1. Left in the middle of the night after a woman walked through and into the kitchen

  2. were directly asked by the cottage owner of they'd left because they'd seen the woman 😱

13thWarriorWitch · 20/01/2019 20:40

Was the guy in the nightclub Dorian Gray?

Peanutss · 20/01/2019 20:49

I've just been reading the one about sensing evil and had to run to my car to go to the shops! (Cons of living on a country Lane in the middle of no where with no street lighting)

Yerroblemom1923 · 20/01/2019 20:53

More memorable than shocking as such, but threads that stay in my mind are the one posted around Xmas 2016 which I think was titled "Aibu to want to run away" or something similar about a young woman with a toddler (I think or he may have been a baby) and she was dying of cancer....it was so sad and there were lots if long gaps between her posts. I often think of her and hope she's still with us.
Another thread was the foster mum who took on a heroin-addicted baby...I think she was called EarthmotherImnot (it's on classics) again such a sad thread.
Amusing threads that have stayed with me are the Flyseat bus one, the screaming at a painting one and the husband doing the TRex in ASDA (it may not be ASDA but another supermarket!)

Elephantina · 20/01/2019 21:28

@SilverySurfer no you're not alone, he gives me an odd feeling as well. The LA teeth and smiling demeanour are disingenuous, and I personally think it's no coincidence that dogs cower away from him and his "calm assertive" body language.

Elephantina · 20/01/2019 21:30

And since I'm here, yes the neighbours dog being stolen and abandoned horrified me, just as dettol cat did this week (glad he's ok).

I tend to miss the most absorbing troll threads, I don't always get time to read the really long involved ones so I drift away!

Yerroblemom1923 · 20/01/2019 21:35

Whatever happened to the neighbour who was hanging bin liners on the washing line????

CallMeSirShotsFired · 20/01/2019 23:21

Out of interest, is "cancel the cheque" still available or was it in a section which auto-deletes?

I remember reading page after page of the battle between the 'helpful' cheque cancellers and the increasingly angry and very territorial RTFTers GrinGrinGrin

BartonHollow · 20/01/2019 23:26

I was on Cancel The Cheque

Because of how viral it went I'm fairly sure that the OP asked for it to go

It made EVERY current affairs discussion and I think outed her to many people but not sure if that included the bride and groom

BartonHollow · 20/01/2019 23:28

Oh it is still here!

It's in classics wasn't hard to find

CallMeSirShotsFired · 20/01/2019 23:31

Cool thanks Barton!

OdeToDiazepam · 20/01/2019 23:43

There was one that really upset me, I even remember the posters make it was purple pavements

She was in a situation where she couldn't leave her abusive partner who was sexually abusing her because he was the only link to her deceased child.

Must be years ago now but it was so so heart wrenchingly sad

OdeToDiazepam · 20/01/2019 23:44

There was a good one once about someone being outraged that their child had been offered biscuits when theyd not yet been introduced to 'the concept of a biscuit' Hmm

PinaColada1 · 21/01/2019 00:10

Wow yes the sense of evil thread and strange things...
So many about women or when they were girls, sensing danger from men. Absolutely hair raising. The one with the woman being thrown over the shoulder! And another about a woman who was walking being followed and a social worker picked her up as she’d recognized the man - possible paedophile. I think.

So many near misses. Many as kids who sensed something wrong from older men or family members, and avoided them, who later turned out to be paedophiles. Scary!

BBInGinDrinking · 21/01/2019 04:24

Thanks to AlexaAmbidextra and RedHatsDoNotSuitMe for your replies about the rubbish dumping/parish council/dog walkers and whatnot thread. Great fun until it seemed to turn a bit sinister. I seem to remember that there was a threatening letter, and a night time prowler, and the OP's thread being seen by a local, all of which led a couple of us to advise her to not post further and to escalate it with the police - at which point she disappeared. One of those long-running sagas that draw you in and could have been a troll, but I didn't think so at the time. I do wonder what happened in the end if you're reading this OP.

Mississippilessly · 21/01/2019 04:30

A fee christmases ago there was a thread about a lady sho was visiting her in laws with her dh and their toddler daughter. The in laws were essentially abusive and basically starving them. She was trying to work out how to escape but had v little money. It was awful.

shins · 21/01/2019 06:32

A lot of these aren't shocking at all, read the OP!

BBInGinDrinking · 21/01/2019 06:53

If you read the full OP, you'll see that more than just shocking examples are invited.

Weenurse · 21/01/2019 07:40

Place marking

Weezermum · 21/01/2019 13:54

What happened to purplepavements in the end? I hope she managed to find some support in RL

Andromeida59 · 21/01/2019 16:58

Haven't read the whole thread. What happened with the one where local villagers were trying to scare the OP out of her house?
