The Savernake Forest one isn't the one posted, it's about the Hungerford Massacre, not someone pet sitting. I'll find it and link it.

ThatThingYouDo · 19/01/2019 16:58

This is the actual Savernake Forest story

Have name changed for this as it will totally out me!
This is on the theme of the PPs, having had a near miss with the likes of Levi Bellfield and Fred West.
In the Spring of 1987 I was heart sick of the job I trained for and decided to have a summer off and do something different. Through a contact, I got a job as a labourer for a well known local thatcher near my home village in Wiltshire. It was great. Very physical, the old gent I was working for was a lot of fun and he enjoyed winding up the American tourists when they came to photograph us. Giving silly names to the tools and lying about what they were used for (measuring smoke) etc.
I had a dog and took her for a walk in my lunch break in Savernake Forest which was at the top of the hill on which the house we were working on was situated.
The following day, I was sat on the roof with one leg either side of the ridge and my back to the chimney putting points on spars and throwing them at the thatcher who banged them into place. From the forest, I heard automatic gunfire and told the thatcher this. He was nonplussed and then adamant it came from the car radio which was on but on the other side of the roof. I denied this so he suggested it came from Salisbury Plain (military training ground) . The wind was in the wrong direction for this though.
As I drove home, I heard on the car radio about the Hungerford massacre but I knew we were 10 plus miles from Hungerford. On the TV that evening they reported that the gunman killed his first victim in Savernake Forest in the exact spot I had been with my dog and at the exact time, but the day before! I was also aware that had he chosen to drive into Marlborough for his murderous spree instead of Hungerford, the thatcher and I would have been the first two people he would have likely seen and as he was apparently shooting at random it's a scary thought. He had his reasons for driving to Hungerford that day but I'm glad I missed him in the forest by a day!

Even better is her mad American friend who is trying more and more ways to convince us that this is okay, including suggesting that not sending pizza into school is to blame for academic struggles in certain demographics.

I hadn’t read this thread but I just knew who the American was going to be. And I was right. 😂

My first troll thread - an affair one which went on for thread after thread. She guessed the code to her husband's mobile was their dog's birthday. They had a business together and o w was very c f. Lived in a small community. All made up. Her name was Iwashappy.

The man whose wife Caroline died and he solicited donations in her memory.

A woman called waves and smiles ( I think) who lived on Guernsey and was a classical musician. Lots of trouble with weird partner and three small children.

CoughLaughFart · 19/01/2019 18:46

I remember poo crumbs father-in-law woman was also annoyed that he never brought wine to dinner or treated them to a takeaway - despite the fact that he was only eating with them because he was staying over to provide free childcare.

Does anyone remember the woman whose husband wanted to spend a fortune on acting classes and headshots even though they were on their uppers, because he was convinced it would all be worth it when he became a rich and famous actor? That was a whole new level of delusion.

The ones where some posters believe a woman should be a human incubator and forced to give birth no matter what as punishment for having sex and can 'just give the baby up for adoption' because that's just no big deal.

They're usually the ones who are easily fertile but show up on other threads from infertile people and tell them to 'just adopt'.

RedHatsDoNotSuitMe · 19/01/2019 18:58

Does anyone remember the thread - with a follow on thread, I think - about the OP who lived in a village, was having rubbish dumped at night, and the parish council, dog walkers, a night time prowler, a neighbour, OP's dog and an ineffectual pc or pso were all in the mix? Or am I confusing two separate OPs? I seem to remember that she disappeared when things got more worrying? Was there any update or outcome? I can't remember it being said that was a troll thread

YES @BBInGinDrinking, I remember enjoying that one. I can't remember how it ended though, and I think it was in Chat, so it's probably gone forever now. Weren't posters writing the ending as if it were a crime thriller??? It was great.

PlumpSyrianHamster · 19/01/2019 19:12

When ledrkr finally gave her cheap, CF ILs exactly the same dose of medicine as they'd been meting out to her family for years. It was awesome!

'UCM, is that you?' And then when UCM came on MN all drunk and got all racist and got banned.

As far as I’m aware MNHQ didn’t delete the fixing threads. Are you saying they did? The one, where she was waiting for her younger ds to have a transplant and died for example was in chat on a 90 days only. Other comments from fixingabrokenhesrt remain but not threads she started. I did an advance search.

eddielizzard · 19/01/2019 21:10

PlumpSyrianHamster can you link to that thread? sounds great!

GlitterPixie · 19/01/2019 21:26

I can’t get the awful one about the cat being sprayed with Dettol out of my head the last few days Sad

Kerrygeld · 19/01/2019 21:35

Plumpsyrianhamster please show me the ledkr in-laws thread!

Zucker · 19/01/2019 22:56

The thread where the OPs husband was insisting on baby after baby. OP didn't really have a say. He wouldn't actually care for the children in any way as it was her job. He refused basic things like getting the washing machine fixed and other maintenance jobs around the house that were obviously a danger to the children.

The last I remember was the op getting a plan together to get some secret contraception sorted out and hopefully a plan to leave him.

I hope she got away.

PlumpSyrianHamster · 19/01/2019 23:01

I CBA'd to dig for it and she may have had it deleted but they were such cheap dicks with the family every time, starving them after begging them to visit but then raiding their cupboards and such and demanding takeaways and restaurant meals (all paid for the led and her spouse) when they imposed themselves and finally she and her h did the exact same thing back to the ILs when the ILs declared they were coming over for another pisstake.

decemberfrost · 19/01/2019 23:16

Thanks @pilates Glad to know dettol cat is OK!

PixieN · 20/01/2019 08:10

There was one recently called the strangest thing that’s ever happened to you or something like that. Posters were describing some scary things including near misses with possible killers/paedophiles. One poster remembered stopping off at a service station with her family as a kid when a complete stranger threw her mum over his shoulders and tried to run off with her. Luckily the husband stopped him I think. I found that pretty shocking 😳

ABigBraclet · 20/01/2019 12:45

Yes I think of that one, PixieN.
Have you read the "sense of evil" thread in classics? Gripping stuff. One post stood out for me in that she had her toddler daughter with her, and mum had noticed a man staring at her and he started to follow her. Mum picked up her daughter and darted into some public toilets as that was the only place to hide and no one else was about. After locking themselves into the cubicle, she heard him come in and mum was frozen with fear. What stuck with me is that she said her usually loud mouth toddler stayed absolutely silent, didnt utter a peep, just clung onto her mum. It was as if the little girl sensed the fear as well.
Almost all of the posts were of women sensing danger from men or of men wanting to harm women and themselves as young girls. I bought "The Gift Of Fear" off the back of that thread.

CarpeVitam · 20/01/2019 13:10

@ABigBraclet , would you (or anyone) please link the 'sense of evil' thread....I can't find it

TIA
