You want a no-deal Brexit? Really?

www.standard.co.uk/news/uk/what-is-a-no-deal-brexit-and-what-could-it-mean-for-the-uk-a4038621.html

LoadOfUtterBoswellocks · 16/01/2019 12:26

A no-deal Brexit would be good news for you IF:

  • You don't eat
  • You never get ill
  • You don't need a job
  • No-one you know needs a job
  • You don't have any friends resident in other EU countries, or from other EU countries - at least, none you care about
  • You have no mortgage and no kids

Other than that, you'd be in quite a bit of peril (to borrow a Monty Python phrase)

Calyx · 16/01/2019 12:30

Remain. (Even though I want independence for Scotland and Brexit is adding fuel to the campaign. I would vote remain because Brexit is so so so bad for Britain.)

MereDintofPandiculation · 16/01/2019 12:34

There are ways of not splitting the "leave" vote that don't involve disenfranchising those whose vote would be remain. For example "put these three option in order of preference". Or 1. Remain/Leave 2. If you answered Leave in part 1, which variety of Leave do you prefer.

We're two years down the line. If we have another referendum, there'll be about a million people who could have voted in the last one who are no longer around to do so, and a similar number of 18-19 years olds who weren't able to vote last time. What does it do for democracy to tell them that their only choice is to to leave?

MaxTeyon · 16/01/2019 12:44

No deal

BMW6 · 16/01/2019 12:56

No Deal

LoadOfUtterBoswellocks · 16/01/2019 13:00

But WHY would you want "No deal" when it would be disastrous for so many people?

blueangel1 · 16/01/2019 13:01

Remain.

LoadOfUtterBoswellocks · 16/01/2019 13:02

To me, the options look a bit like:

No deal = cut your leg off
Deal = cut your leg off, but put a prosthetic on
Remain = don't cut your leg off but take some fairly unpleasant antibiotics

We're doomed. Dooooooooomed I tell ye!

KasimirPushkino · 16/01/2019 13:05

Remain.

mummymeister · 16/01/2019 13:11

we cant act on the outcome of a 2 question referendum. what makes you think the politicians would be able to sort out the mess that a 3 question referendum would bring?

the only good that has come out of all of this is that perhaps there is a generation of young people under 25 who will now go into politics and realise the importance of it. If I had an option it would be to sack every single politician currently sitting in the HoC because they had a collective responsibility having triggered the EU Article in a vote to work together for the good of the country to sort this out. sweep them all away and start again. but of course that cant happen. staying in isn't an option in my view and neither is a re-vote. May never wanted Brexit, shes glad its a mess and if we do end up staying in or a "soft as shite" Brexit then she will secretly be cheering. The politicians have let us down and we have only ourselves to blame for standing back year after year electing parties rather than people where in some constituency a donkey with a red or blue rosette would get itself elected. time for us all to grow up a bit and accept we have the politicians we deserve.

Bluelady · 16/01/2019 13:15

Remain.

Elfinablender · 16/01/2019 13:22

I'm not convinced another referendum wouldn't just produce another leave result. But, I'd vote remain.

Geminijes · 16/01/2019 13:24

No deal.

doubleshotespresso · 16/01/2019 13:27

REMAIN

FinnegansWhiskers · 16/01/2019 13:46

I have absolutely no idea!

After TM's deal was rejected it became clear that those who know about political things thought it wouldn't be a good deal for UK, yet lots of them are looking to leave EU. Nobody has come up with a deal that would work for UK - or any alternative deal.

If we left with no deal then that cannot be good for UK, based on leaving with the only deal that's been put forward, which included some elements that protect jobs, the economy and civilians both here and abroad. With no deal these elements would be excluded.

The odious toad JC seems to think he can do a better deal but I very much doubt it. He hasn't come up with anything so far. I can say I'm an expert at abseiling. I couldn't prove it though. We can all say anything we want to. To be believed we have to prove it. JC couldn't be trusted to make a cup of tea, let alone put together a deal in the best interests of this country.

Until we have a proposed deal that's better than the one that's been rejected we can't vote for a deal.

I don't want to leave with no deal.

I think we should leave rather than remain now. I have no idea what to vote for as the options currently stand 🤷

badlydrawnperson · 16/01/2019 13:47

No Deal

badlydrawnperson · 16/01/2019 13:49

BTW OP - the referendum you suggest would result in remain (99% who post on here are remain anyway), since it would split the leave vote.

PlumCakeChica · 16/01/2019 13:52

Remain in the EU

MyOtherProfile · 16/01/2019 13:54

Remain

Elfinablender · 16/01/2019 13:55

since it would split the leave vote.

Do you think? I get the feeling that most people who voted leave would still do so apart from those who feel duped...so they would be more likely to vote remain rather than leave. But in the meantime, a lot of the people who didn't vote last time might well be encouraged to vote this time - and then, well it was so tight, who the hell knows?

Dragongirl10 · 16/01/2019 13:56

No deal

DeRigueurMortis · 16/01/2019 13:58

Remain

Jackshouse · 16/01/2019 13:59

Remain

ShadyLady53 · 16/01/2019 14:01

Remain.

If we did get a second referendum, I think Leave would still win though.
