If there was another Brexit referendum would you vote the same way?

By the way I am not for another Brexit referendum but I am seeing a lot about it on the news/social media and it got be wondering what everyone would vote if it did happen and what did you vote before? I voted remain and would vote remain again.

OP posts:

Interesting, NigellasGuest. Can I ask why?

why100000 · 14/01/2019 20:43

Remain then / remain now.

Bluntness100 · 14/01/2019 20:43

Remain then and now.

I hope they either get the deal through or cancel the whole bloody thing.

AnnaMariaDreams · 14/01/2019 20:44

Yes voted remain and still would.
My parents voted leave- my Dad would now vote remain. He still believes in the reasons he voted leave but now sees remain is the lesser evil.
My mum has said if we get another go she won’t vote because if she voted leave again it would upset me.

Oriunda · 14/01/2019 20:44

Remain then - remain now. Especially as sadly it looks like husband has been offered choice between moving to an EU country or being made redundant (he’s an EU national and cannot do his current job from April from the UK).

I voted by postal vote, because we travel a lot. I would encourage anyone who thinks they ever might be away or on holiday etc to register for a postal vote for the next election, whatever that may be, rather than not vote at all. Your vote is too precious to lose.

Inghamhater · 14/01/2019 20:45

Remain then and now

Rowgtfc72 · 14/01/2019 20:45

Voted leave. Would vote leave again.

beachbodyunready · 14/01/2019 20:45

@RedWineIsFabulous I work in a small office of 7, in the original referendum 4 voted to leave and 3 to remain. We had a discussion the other day and if there was another vote it would be 2 to leave and 5 for remain so quite a swing. The reasons given for changing their minds were 'didn't realise it was going to be so difficult' 'didn't know enough' 'tories have made a mess' and 'staying would be better'.

noideaatallreally · 14/01/2019 20:46

Remain and still 100% remain now. The whole thing has been an utter farce from day 1 - there is no plan b, no one seems to have a clue what will happen if we leave without a deal. We have gifted our children and grandchildren a terrible legacy. Cameron has cut and run. I really worry for the future.

fikel · 14/01/2019 20:46

Remain then and remain again

Mumoftwoyoungkids · 14/01/2019 20:46

Yes. Remain and remain.

OnlyaMan · 14/01/2019 20:46

Leave, then. But after the contemptuous and hostile attitude of the EU negotiators, I would now vote "Double-Leave" if I could. I suspect many other voters would agree.
It is probably a myth that "Brexiters" would reverse their decision, in the face of threats and economic scares from the "Remainers."
Let us suppose that there were to be a second referendum (not what the OP asked, I know)-and lets us suppose the result was an even greater majority to leave.
What would the "Remainers" then say, I wonder? Something like "Best three out of Five"?

brizzledrizzle · 14/01/2019 20:46

Yes, I voted remain and I still would. My parents changed their minds and would vote leave now because they are appalled at the way that the EU have behaved over this whole mess.

BrightYellowDaffodil · 14/01/2019 20:47

Remain then and remain now. I hope there IS another referendum to give a chance to this who felt lied to change their mind (if they wish to).

I don’t buy the argument that there shouldn’t be another referendum because “the electorate has spoken” (or some such) - there was a referendum in the 70s about joining Europe and we were given another vote on it in 2016. So there is a precedent for voters to be allowed to change their minds once they know what the situation actually involves. That and it will show politicians that they can’t lie, trick people and get away with it.

ForalltheSaints · 14/01/2019 20:47

Yes. vote Remain.

Onemorefireball · 14/01/2019 20:47

Remain then, remain now

importantkath · 14/01/2019 20:47

Remain then and now

Oriunda · 14/01/2019 20:47

Both of my parents voted leave. Daily Heil readers, voting to get Jonny Foreigner out. Shame they forgot their SIL was one. If we leave the country we probably won’t come back and my mother can get on a plane using her lovely blue passport if she wants to see her grandson.

LuluJakey1 · 14/01/2019 20:48

Leave then, leave now. However, I have lost all faithin all ofour politjcal parties and politicians who seem to have made the biggest mess possible during the last two years. Not a single party has any ideas at all or plans it would seem. I can not believe Teresa May this morning who seems to have forgotten how she campaigned against Welsh devolution and continued to protest and not accept the Welsh assembly for over a year afterwards. It makes me wonder if any of them actually have a clue what they say or do or if Boris Johnson's 'deep government' are behind everything that happens - whoever they are.

CatWhisker · 14/01/2019 20:48

Remain then and now

PinkGin24 · 14/01/2019 20:48

Voted Leave. Would vote Leave again (double/triple Leave if that was an option!)

brizzledrizzle · 14/01/2019 20:48

My mum has said if we get another go she won’t vote because if she voted leave again it would upset me.

What?! That is ridiculous. Did she decide that on her own or is based on something you have said?

SillySallySingsSongs · 14/01/2019 20:50

Remain then and remain now but I do know of people that have changed their votes in both directions.

leghairdontcare · 14/01/2019 20:51

There's not going to be another referendum which asked the same question of leave or remain. It may be the case that, when it's voted down tomorrow, Theresa May might put her deal vs remain to a referendum rather than face a general election.

We will not be allowed to vote for no deal, May has already backed down on that today by saying no Brexit is more likely than no deal.

Oddbins · 14/01/2019 20:53

I'm not sure what leavers thought the EU would do and why they should be falling over themselves to make it easy for the UK to leave. It's hard enough to cancel a bloody gym membership let alone almost 50 years of legislation and trade agreements. Most people can't even remember not being in the EU or predecessor.

If there was another vote and it actually was factual I would be surprised that leave would win but I would accept that.

What I absolutely object to is being forced down a one way path because of a lot of misinformation and blatant lies. It's bloody idiotic to do so.

If you are going to bang on about the will of the people then find out what that is when they are making INFORMED decisions. To do otherwise is idiocy.
