I'll start.

Céline Dion - Fly

Bloody hell, what a song. I only just discovered it today. The feel of the song and the lyrics are out of this world. Truly amazing. And extremely comforting if you've been through a child loss. Listen if you have the time Thanks

On a lighter note, Let's here it for the boy - Deniece Williams Grin

Pretty much anything Brian Fallon has ever done

SmilingButClueless · 13/01/2019 21:54

Pulp - Glory Days

Lots of stuff by Keane is underrated IMO, but both Watch How You Go and The Starting Line get to me every time.

winobaglady · 13/01/2019 21:54

Forever Young by Joan Baez
Misguided Angel by Cowboy Junkies
When a Blind Man Cries by Deep Purple
Samba Pa Ti by Santana
Speak to Me Someone by Gene
Another vote for Will You by Hazel O'Connor

Hedgehogblues · 13/01/2019 21:54

Also Sorrow by The National is the best exploration of depression I've ever heard

Yabbers · 13/01/2019 21:56

Wires by Athlete. Any preemie mum will know ❤️

Mr President by Pink. Written about Bush, perfect for Trump too.

Pink generally underrated!

ddodprob · 13/01/2019 21:56

There’s an amazing song I love called My Skin by an artist called Natalia merchant -

ddodprob · 13/01/2019 21:57

@mawkishtwaddle I love that song!

TheLovelyOtherDinosaur · 13/01/2019 21:58

How beautiful is Samba Pa Ti though!
It reminds me of summer.
I came to say ‘I can only disappoint U’- Mansun

ilovewine · 13/01/2019 22:00

Shaboo - loved loved loved that Then Jerico song Smile other one at that time that was ace was Cock Robin when your heart is weak.

shartsi · 13/01/2019 22:01

Grace Carter - why her

Coxie2006 · 13/01/2019 22:02

Fly was played at my friends baby's funeral, such a sad song. Oh & I can't get through Proclaimers I Would Walk 500 miles without blubbing. I think it's a beautiful love song!

bibbitybobbityyhat · 13/01/2019 22:02

This exquisite feminist anthem by Imelda May. Tells the story of her marriage break up and a million relationship breakups before and after. I just couldn't understand why it wasn't No. 1 for a year!

BriocheBriocheBrioche · 13/01/2019 22:05

Set the fire to the third bar by snow patrol and Martha wainwright.

Also the whole Damien Rice O album.

sunsalutations · 13/01/2019 22:07

I've recently discovered a singer from late 60s / 70s Tony Joe White from a song I heard at an Open Mic - Polk Salad Annie. He's amazing! Why's he not up there with Johnny Cash?

MothershipG · 13/01/2019 22:07

Duffy - Warwick Avenue
Classic break up song, great voice.

ShortandSweet96 · 13/01/2019 22:08

I hear you knocking - Dave Edmunds.

PrincessPopsicle · 13/01/2019 22:09

Another vote for ‘Strange and beautiful’ (Aqualung) and also ‘Rhinestone cowboy’ (Glen Campbell). Two of my absolute favourite songs.

I also think ‘Story of the blues’ (The Mighty Wah) is wonderful and ‘One day like this’ (Elbow) is both awesome and inspiring (but probably isn’t under-rated).

BookMeOnTheSudExpress · 13/01/2019 22:10

Agree with your last two Princess. Both on my BookMe's Best Spotify playlist. (Has to be the Elbow version with the philarmonic orchestra)

Twernip · 13/01/2019 22:14

"Night Owl" by Gerry Rafferty. I absolutely adore it!

IamFrauBlucher · 13/01/2019 22:15

Another fan of "Will you" by Hazel Dean. I went to my DPs place first night I met him, didn't know he was super shy and kept touching my knee against his when I put my wine on the coffee table and screaming in my head..."kiss me!!!!"

Eventually he asked if he could kiss me...

When I got in my car after a good seeing to it was playing on the way home. I was too young to appreciate it when released but it knots my stomach now.

Turquoisetamborine · 13/01/2019 22:16

High and Dry by Radiohead. Massive at the time but never played now.

Also anything by Mansun. Legacy was my favourite. That guitar riff 😱

ddodprob · 13/01/2019 22:17

@briochenriochebrioche I think we share the same taste!

alibongo5 · 13/01/2019 22:17

Anything by Billy Bragg. Absolutely love him and yet he's hardly played.

thefourgp · 13/01/2019 22:17

Hear You Me by Jimmy Eat World

IamFrauBlucher · 13/01/2019 22:18

Oops Hazel O Connor of course.
