I'll start.

Céline Dion - Fly

Bloody hell, what a song. I only just discovered it today. The feel of the song and the lyrics are out of this world. Truly amazing. And extremely comforting if you've been through a child loss. Listen if you have the time Thanks

On a lighter note, Let's here it for the boy - Deniece Williams Grin

Oh god how I love Fade Into You by Mazzy Star. Well here goes...

Nice n' Sleazy by The Stranglers (damn that bass line)!
I Gotta Feelin by The Beatles (they sound happily stoned playing it)
Ramble On by Led Zeppelin (just because)....
Castles In The Sand by Jimi Hendrix along with his bloody amazing version of Wild Thing
Moments of Pleasure by Kate Bush (just mesmerising and beautiful)
Birds on The Wing by Pink Floyd because its so beautiful. Cry everytime.
And She Was by Talking Heads just lovely
Rip Her To Shreds by Blondie
Bad Reputation by Joan Jett
456 Was My Number because its bloody brilliant!!!

And many, many more!

Yambabe · 13/01/2019 23:01

Hmm, some of you I think were just a bit too young to remember when your "under-rated" songs were very much "rated"!

My choices would be "Sister Christian" by Nightranger, the ultimate power ballad, and "Loveshit" by The Wildhearts Smile

Mammyloveswine · 13/01/2019 23:02

Secondhand serenade "fall for you"... love this song about remembering you fell in love once upon a time and reconnecting

BubblegumFactory · 13/01/2019 23:05

A lot of these I’d consider more ‘fallen to the wayside’ rather than ‘underrated’ -Will you by Hazel O’Connor is totally recognised as a classic!
I’m going to chuck in a whole album - David Coverdale (yes big hair from Whitesnake but don’t judge till you give it a listen!!!) and his Northwinds album. Some fabulous love songs like ‘Time and again’ and blues stompers like ‘Give me kindness’
Agree with Mmbop, often ridiculed as a cheesy pop song but I think it’s a perfectly penned record.

carinamel · 13/01/2019 23:06

Buddy Holly - true love ways

Nothininmenoggin · 13/01/2019 23:06

Sunshine on Leith The Proclaimers
My Best Friend Queen
Mr Blue Sky ELO
Sweet Caroline and Cracklin Rosie Neil Diamond
God Only Knows The Beach Boys

All of the above are perfection to my ears.
Some great songs mentioned on this thread. Grin

Carry on by Fun! Wasn't released but on album. It's one of those I need a sob or an eff you song. Either way for me.

powershowerforanhour · 13/01/2019 23:11

David Gray's White Ladder album did well but I liked A Century Ends even better, especially "Debauchery".

Christy Moore's "Well Below The Valley" sounds like it's going to be a quaint little folk song but turns out so dark...the young wonan's defiant last line makes me cry and the singer's rage at the crap meted out to people at the bottom of the heap shows....the bodhrán is a perfect finish.

MrsDeltaB · 13/01/2019 23:13

Oh! And Train: Hopeless

Matchbox 20: The Way

powershowerforanhour · 13/01/2019 23:16

JJ Cale's "Magnolia" is a beautiful song that relaxes me so much I melt into a puddle a little bit every time I hear it.

HildaZelda · 13/01/2019 23:21

@powershower, can I add JJ Cale 'river runs deep'.

FreezerBird · 13/01/2019 23:22

OP if you like The Specials' Message to Rudy I BEG you to listen to the original, by Dandy Livingstone. Such a beautiful beautiful voice.

Freewheelin74 · 13/01/2019 23:25

How about "Pain Killer" by Turin Brakes. Or "Seasons" by Chris Cornwell? My favourite song of his and that includes Sound gardens back catalogue.

Jsmith99 · 13/01/2019 23:33

First we take Manhattan by Jennifer Warnes. It’s from her album of superb covers of Leonard Cohen songs. Stevie Ray Vaughan’s guitar parts are astonishing.

Waiting for that day by George Michael. Easily my favourite of his songs.

IamFrauBlucher · 13/01/2019 23:37

That's strange @ALittleCrisp as it's gone from 50 songs to over 100 now since I went for a wee. GrinGrinGrin

RubyWho · 13/01/2019 23:40

It Ain’t Me, Babe by Joan Baez

banjaxedeejit · 13/01/2019 23:41

Alison Moyet - This House

IamFrauBlucher · 14/01/2019 00:00

PS I can't see the names of followers on the playlist - so everyone's anonymity is safe!

@trooth - you were just the first one to add your posted song, is all.

nowifi · 14/01/2019 00:08

Yes to Painkiller was listening to that earlier!

Also Yam yes to anything by The Wildhearts

Such a diverse choice of songs, I like this thread!

CoughLaughFart · 14/01/2019 00:26

Alison Moyet - This House

Yes yes YES. I saw her perform this in 2005 and it was fantastic. Can I add one of her later ones to the list - ‘When I Was Your Girl’.

Also, ‘Stay With Me Til Dawn’ by Judy Tzueke.

PrickWhittington · 14/01/2019 01:10

Madonna’s ‘Oh Father. Lounge Act - Nirvana, Shadowlanda from the Lion King musical’(it’s not featured in the film and Bedshaped - Keane. Also Breathe Me - Sia, and a lot of her earlier stuff.

Picknickers · 14/01/2019 01:11

Car on the Hill and The River Joni Mitchell
Lost Weekend Lloyd Cole
Chocolate Girl Deacon Blue.
Love this thread. 😍

CheshireChat · 14/01/2019 01:41

Sound of silence by Disturbed (the unplugged version particularly)

Caught a lite sneeze original by Tori Amos, I marginally prefer the Voltaire cover

Marianne by Tori Amos

Bittersweet by Apocalyptica

CheshireChat · 14/01/2019 01:44

Paranoid circus by Lyriel

Pretty much all their music actually!
