I have one of the larger council issued bins as I have 4 children , my neighbour also does though their bin is far older as they have grown up children .
I clean mine after each collection with bleach etc so it’s still fairly new looking .
I realised last week we have a stinking mouldy one instead now so been watching on bin collection day and realised my neighbour has swapped them over .
Now this could be a mistake I highly doubt they haven’t noticed theirs is now cleaner and bigger , so today is the day I’m getting it back . The man next door can be strange so I’m relauctant to approach him to ask for it back as I think he won’t back down so I’m just going to do a swap as soon as they are emptied , currently lying in wait .... wish me luck .

My neighbour stole my new wheelie bin and put their house number '20' on it. I reclaimed it and as my number is the same but with an 'A' after it, I simply made it say 20A and all was great again! Grin
I also added other unique details to it, that are permanent.

I just popped outside and found a brand new kerbside bin on my doorstep. So excited!, its nice and shiny and a very deep green unlike our old faded one. Can't stop looking at it.

Squeeeeeeee!

I'm excited for you Shimy - this would thrill me skinny!

I used an old compass and stabbed dots into the plastic underneath our bin. I also "engraved" the postcode on it.

Bloody bin thieves!

Our blue bin (paper) WITH NUMBER disappeared for about four weeks recently. We were left one without numbers, which we took and used for the next two weeks. We checked at the next bin day, and our original numbered bin didn't appear, so we presumed it lost - and numbered the bin we had acquired in its place. Another two weeks went by, bin day came, and suddenly there were two blue bins with the same number outside our house - the original and the newer one! We felt guilty so we peeled the numbers back off the newer one and left it, it disappeared a few days later.

But how on earth does somebody take a clearly numbered bin that doesn't belong to them, and NOT REALISE for four weeks!!!!!!

We live in fear of our grey bin (household) going walkabouts. They shrank the bins locally, but we were granted a 'standard' size bin due to our son's disability creating more rubbish. I'm sure our neighbours covet our bigger bin ....

Soldering iron!

Well played, ich, proud of you!Star but if your neighbour is anything like mine at my previous address, best be aware of any rubbish he may throw over your back garden in retaliation for being put in his place by a woman! Shock

Fromage, so what was the Big Falling Out over painted front doors all about, then? Sounds as batshit as this thread Grin

My bin stickers arrived Grin

I don't have a sparkly clean bin though. That might be a summer job.

TinyTimsCrutch · 19/01/2019 21:53

How was bin day this week???

SawnUpLooRoll · 19/01/2019 22:13

I love that a PP has suggested Google Streetview as evidence... among the bin tagging, lid locks and photographic evidence, it sounds like Bin Court is about to begin!

Squidgee · 19/01/2019 22:53

Spray paint the bin lid a different colour.

My ExH managed to spray our purple lidded bin with silver car paint, so there's now no mistaking its ours in any bin swapping incident xD
