Stolen Bin thread

I have one of the larger council issued bins as I have 4 children , my neighbour also does though their bin is far older as they have grown up children .
I clean mine after each collection with bleach etc so it’s still fairly new looking .
I realised last week we have a stinking mouldy one instead now so been watching on bin collection day and realised my neighbour has swapped them over .
Now this could be a mistake I highly doubt they haven’t noticed theirs is now cleaner and bigger , so today is the day I’m getting it back . The man next door can be strange so I’m relauctant to approach him to ask for it back as I think he won’t back down so I’m just going to do a swap as soon as they are emptied , currently lying in wait .... wish me luck .

Still totally shocked that you clean your outside bin!!!!! I would never have thought of doing this in a million years!

TheGirlWithAllTheFeathers · 11/01/2019 17:45

Ask the council for a new one if you finally give up and claim yours was stolen.

FedUpEffedOff · 11/01/2019 17:50

What’s the latest!? I’m so excited 😆

RosemarysBabyDress · 11/01/2019 17:51

ToftyAC · 11/01/2019 17:51

Oh I do live a good bin thread.... I’ve had loads of shameless CFs over the years steal ours and plenty of bin wars.... I’m getting some popcorn 🍿

YouCanCallMeJodieWho · 11/01/2019 17:51

Good work ichi. And good luck in the War of The Clean Bin.

di2004 · 11/01/2019 17:56

OMG the suspense - it’s bin killing me!!! ( excuse the pun).

Ashamedgirl · 11/01/2019 17:57

Any updates on this has he said anything lol sitting on edge of my seat

SouthwarkSkaters · 11/01/2019 17:59

I am having the opposite problem: the wind blew a couple of kitchen caddies up or down the road and they ended up in my front garden. I’ve posted on Facebook, left them outside with notes saying they are not mine but no luck. I really don’t need 3 bins and have no idea what to do with them. (Mine have enormous numbers on the side, un-nickable!)

NameChangeOhNameChange1 · 11/01/2019 18:00

Why am I so interested in this thread?!

IrisTs · 11/01/2019 18:00

Update update

GabriellaMontez · 11/01/2019 18:00

Is it possible that he has a parcel for you?

Awrite · 11/01/2019 18:02

Someone stole my bin once, so I phoned the council and they delivered a new one within a couple of days.

Almost immediately after receiving new bin, I get my old one back. A neighbour had mistakenly put it in another neighbour's garden when they were on holiday.

So, now I have 2 bins. Score.

OdeToDiazepam · 11/01/2019 18:03

I want to know what he was going to say when he knocked!

OddBoots · 11/01/2019 18:03

I hope you have something good to say to him when he does end up speaking to you.

LikeYouSaid · 11/01/2019 18:08

I’m commenting because I want to know if he returned to knock again! Grin

Hate bin CF’s.

FreshlyWashed · 11/01/2019 18:09

ha ha. That would be soooo funny GabriellaMontez Grin

libra101 · 11/01/2019 18:09

We have numbered our bins so no-one takes them by mistake. Also use bin liners, as it save a lot of cleaning.

Bringbackthestripes · 11/01/2019 18:09

I want to know what he was going to say when he knocked!

Yes, what could he possibly say? “We want the bin we stole from you back” Grin I can’t wait for an update

JiggleTheBiggles · 11/01/2019 18:14

Do you think he'll knock again? Or has he realised he's been rumbled as a CF.

mumoftinyterrors · 11/01/2019 18:23

Our general waste bin is large but doesn’t hold two weeks rubbish for our family, so every week my husband has to take some of the rubbish to the tip. Come bin day, our one is only half full as the husband cleared it out just a few days before. My neighbour got a new car so stopped doing tip runs because she didn’t want to get the car dirty 🙄 and now as soon as I leave on the school run, fills my bin up with her rubbish! CF!

JohnnyKarate · 11/01/2019 18:23

I love reading about bin wars but I’m currently living through one and it’s absolutely insane how people get about bins.

Sexnotgender · 11/01/2019 18:27

Great up, bet he's plotting his revenge right now!

frugalkitty · 11/01/2019 18:30

Stick to your guns OP! A few years ago my neighbour accidentally took or bin by mistake, but I knew the minute I looked in the one we got back because it was absolutely disgusting! Considering what a neat freak couple they were and how much cleaning she did, I was gobsmacked that their bin was so dirty. On bin day I waited for the bin men and grabbed my bin back pronto! I had number stickers at the ready.

We now have the extra large bin, and as it’s the only one in the row no one can pinch it (and it has numbers on!)

PlumpSyrianHamster · 11/01/2019 18:31

You rule! We had to get locks on our bins because CFers kept putting their rubbish in them.
