What is the one thing you can eat on it's very own, although some people find it repulsive?

For me it's cheese! Any kind of cheese!!!! I am in LOVE with CHEESE!!! Cream cheese, cheddar cheese, brie, mozzarella, provolone, you get the idea! Grin

However, I have a friend tell me that she thought it was disgusting! Shock even though she relished ketchup sandwiches! Blergh!

I knew another guy who could simply eat a raw onion like an apple, no problem! My autist mind thought, "I wonder if he will be a serial killer one day?" I know, I'm weird! HA!

What one food do you enjoy tremendously on it's own, but according to some people, it makes them want to gag?

I eat cottage cheese from the pot with a spoon as though it were yoghurt. Even thinking about it makes me salivate.

Just been looking for a Mumsnet cheese emoji for emphasis but could only find Cake. Sod that, where is the emoji for the savoury people? ??

minipie · 09/01/2019 23:38

Creme fraiche
Double cream
Raw mushrooms
Raw cauliflower
Raw courgette
Cold cooked spaghetti
Lemon curd
Peanut butter

It’s normal to like cheese on its own OP... isn’t it?

DeRigueurMortis · 09/01/2019 23:39

Raw broccoli stems - yum

CoffeeRunner · 09/01/2019 23:39

Celery.

I love it but it seems to repulse lots of people!

Yambabe · 09/01/2019 23:39

Orange or lemon peel.

BillywigSting · 09/01/2019 23:40

Gherkins here too.

I am the weirdo that everyone else gives their McDonald's pickles to Grin

Pastrami. I have on occasion eaten an entire packet of the stuff in a day without meaning to. Only the good stuff though. Cheap pastrami is inedible.

Donkdonkgoo · 09/01/2019 23:40

Cold toast with lots of butter so it has a bite

SleightOfMind · 09/01/2019 23:41

Fissionchips
boiled peanuts?!?!?

Tell me more

IncorrigibleTitmouse · 09/01/2019 23:42

I don’t like cheese on its own either! It has to be hot and melty for me to eat it. And I definitely can’t abide stinky cheese.

I do, however, eat Marmite with a spoon. Likewise spoonfuls of hot melted chocolate if I’m making anything that requires it, pickled beetroot from the jar, and I eat my gravy with a spoon if there’s any on the plate at the end of a roast.

userschmoozer · 09/01/2019 23:42

Lurleene Cottage cheese is the Marmite of the cheeseboard

Chewinggumwalk · 09/01/2019 23:42

Peanut butter.

But it has to be crunchy.

And the Whole Earth no added sugar stuff.

Bring it ON, I’ve got my spoon...

Donkdonkgoo · 09/01/2019 23:42

Derig I eat raw broccoli stems too and cauliflower it's actually the best part of the veg I think

zen1 · 09/01/2019 23:42

Iceberg lettuce

Alann01 · 09/01/2019 23:44

Prawns

GaryWilmottsTeeth · 09/01/2019 23:45

Tomato purée. If DH is around, I’ll squeeze it in to a spoon to look polite Grin if he’s not, I’ll eat it straight out of the tube.

whyameyehere · 09/01/2019 23:45

stem ginger in syrup, I can eat the ginger out of the jar.
the syrup makes great flapjacks!

minipie · 09/01/2019 23:46

Oh yes forgot raw broccoli stem!

Pollypopit · 09/01/2019 23:46

Onion. Like an apple Smile

MissLanesAmericanCousin · 09/01/2019 23:46

@minipi, I thought so too! I was shocked when she looked at me as if I was eating dog doo! I was noshing on a whole brick of Tilamook, but I still don't get her reaction. Maybe, it is a little a little gluttonous, though when I think about it! Blush

jam - raspberry with bits. straight off the spoon

BillywigSting · 09/01/2019 23:48

Also agree with pp about broccoli stems.

Ds only really likes the florets, I much prefer the stems but between the two of us we can polish one off without too much trouble.

Some cheese is better on its own without anything else getting in the way of its deliciousness (cheddar, edam, wensleydale) but some definitely needs to be paired with other things to bring out its best (brie, Stilton, camembert)

coco2891 · 09/01/2019 23:49

Raw tuna marinated in olive oil / lime and coriander 😋😋😋

Lurleene · 09/01/2019 23:49

userschmoozer I take it your green face was a boak and not envy? Ha ha.
I've never met a cheese I didn't like. That is why I have comprehensively failed at Veganuary. Blush

chinam · 09/01/2019 23:49

Brussels sprouts. Yum.

Donkdonkgoo · 09/01/2019 23:50
