Death Penalty for Bellfield

Charlotte48 · 09/01/2019 19:42

Having watched Manhunt about the investigation into the evil paedophile; child killer; woman killer; woman abuser and beater, Levi Bellfield, I was just wondering if, after Brexit, we should restore the death penalty. Surely Bellfield should be executed.

OP posts:
Craft1905 · 09/01/2019 21:02

Sod human rights, if some scumbag murdered one of my children I would press the button. Hopefully the end would be agony.

But would you push the button on one of your children if they grow up to be a murderer. That's the question. And what if you thought they didn't do it, even though they were found guilty. If you can answer yes to those questions, you're worth listening to. If not, your aren't.

Rosehip10 · 09/01/2019 21:03

@The80sweregreat do you live in a place where people don't like how the UK has "changed" by immigration and that Tommy Robinson is simply "telling it like it is"?

Ta1kinPeace · 09/01/2019 21:04

I see that the OP lit the Blue Touch paper and has not returned.

Got your Daily Heil article yet ?

Frequency · 09/01/2019 21:05

How do you know Levi Bellfield won’t be freed eventually?

Just a guess but could it be because he received two whole life sentences? The last time I checked whole meant entire. As in all of it.

HoustonBess · 09/01/2019 21:05

As people have said, it's a slippery slope once you start executing people. How do you know you won't be caught in the wrong place at the wrong time, or fitted up? It's not like miscarriages of justice are unheard of, or corrupt governments.

Besides which, if there's no hope of reform or parole for criminals, they will become much more ruthless to avoid being caught, or more violent in prison. It's not hard to imagine more paedophiles adding extra violence or even murder to their crimesheets if they think it's either that or the death penalty.

As to what Brexit has to do with anything - this country is 100% not going to go back to the 50s through a time warp, the changes that have occurred in the last generations have changed the country permanently. People's horizons just don't shrink that quickly, even if you trash the economy to make a point.

ElevenSmiles · 09/01/2019 21:05

Rosehip...In my world my family would be the jury.

Rosehip10 · 09/01/2019 21:07

@Imissgmichael idiotic and extreme views on issues like crime and punishment are pumping out by UKIP and Tommy Robinson etc and like it or not most people who like views like that are brexit voters.

Rosehip10 · 09/01/2019 21:08

@elevensmiles well thankfully we are not in your fantasy world

User758172 · 09/01/2019 21:09

@maddiemookins16mum

If one of my children was murdered, and I had the opportunity to pull the lever, I most certainly would!

RedDwarves · 09/01/2019 21:09

You can't retrospectively apply the law.

So this whole question is redundant if you're only concerned about that one person.

hobnobsaremyfavourite · 09/01/2019 21:10

I’ve seen a lot of things shoehorned into Brexit but this really takes the Biscuit
If this is what Brexiteers are like it sure does prove the old adage
You can’t cure stupid

The80sweregreat · 09/01/2019 21:10

Rose, it's not that bad, but I just know I would get a positive reaction to bringing it back. Nothing to do with anything else.
It's one of those subjects. People are very black and white about it and would never hear the other arguments against. They wouldn't listen.
I would dread a vote on it.

fiydwi · 09/01/2019 21:13

Why should that evil bastard be kept alive costing the taxpayer millions. Fry the fucker as far as I’m concerned. Same goes for all paedophiles. There’s no place for the sickos in this society.

jakscrakers · 09/01/2019 21:14

I am sorry but IMHO he and others deserve the death penalty, they do not deserve to be treated like they are in some sort of hotel, all this crud about their human rights pffft they have no human rights and they gave them away willingly when they thought about doing these horrendous acts not when they acted them out. These beings deserve to be put in prison and left to rot, 3 meals a day ok but basic, no tv, no games, no treats, nothing like this but no they get special meals, heating, lighting, games galore, tv and phones and yet they manage to also get drugs inside and other contraband, our OAP's are treated like they should already be dead by this government, but willingly pay to keep these criminals in a lap of luxury

midsomermurderess · 09/01/2019 21:14

And those saying proisomers should be made to suffer, you are sent to jail as punishment, not for punishment. Some of you would male Victorians squirm with your primitive views. And your impulses to torture and humiliate put you on a level scarecely above those you condemn.

Here are some articles on brexiteers and capital punishment. I’m surprised you were unaware of any link. fabians.org.uk/brexit-voters-not-the-left-behind/

DeloresJaneUmbridge · 09/01/2019 21:16

Can’t stand what he did and can cheerfully say I would not lose any sleep over his death....but bringing back the death penalty is madness. It won’t happen because as a country we are better than that.

A whole life tariff now I can really get behind.

I gather Belllfield has converted to Islam but it won’t be for any spiritual reason, more like he gets some kind of protection or different treatment as a result of a religious conversion.

Russell Bishop who has recently been convicted after 30 yrs for the nursery of Karen Hadaway and Nicola Fellowes was already in prison following the 1990 kidnap and sexual assault of a 7yr old in 1990. He got 14 years for that but had never been paroled because he wasn’t considered safe to be in society.

So these dangerous men are not necessarily ever going to be released....even without a whole life tariff.

Birdsgottafly · 09/01/2019 21:17

Frequency, life is often around 15 years.

Two life sentences is 30.

In the UK, half is served in Prison, so in 15 years he will be up for parole.

So he could be out in his 60's.

Madders45 · 09/01/2019 21:17

To some of the people making vile comments about how they’d torture to death someone accused of killing their child, take a read of the statement made by the parents of 18 year old Ellen Higginbottom, who was stabbed to death in 2017 while walking home from college.

“Family tribute to Ellen Higginbottom:

Paying tribute to Ellen, her family said: "We're supposed to start at the beginning but this is the news and we have neither space nor time. But equally, you can't just flip to page 647 of a person's life and know them.

“So, insights and anecdotes. It's 4am and the birds are singing like they did on Saturday morning at Orrell. Ellen would have liked it. She'd have still been messing on her phone though.

"We could tell you about how excited she was when we tentatively suggested she might want a kitchen mixer for her 18th birthday. Not clothes and make-up and jewellery for Ellen – not really her thing. Any top tips on how to preserve home-made flapjacks forever by the way?

"We could tell you how she had astonishingly reinvigorated her love of learning over the last few months after some difficult times. We could tell you that the last time we 'had words' was in 2001 when she jumped in a puddle after being told not to.

"But none of this makes sense because they're just yellow stripes highlighting the book of her life and you haven't read the rest of it.

"People have called them animals but Ellen loved animals and the psychology student in her would tell you it takes the complexity of a human mind to conjure such exquisite evil.

"People have also called for them to be strung up but we've thrown enough stones in rivers while camping for her to tell you that ripples reach the shore. Innocent people love, or at least loved, these monsters too, and I promise you, she'd also tell you that nobody deserves the pain we feel right now. What's the world coming to?

"Well, if a legacy is planting seeds in a garden you never get to see, then thanks to people like our remarkable Ellen it's coming to beauty and love and kindness."

Madders45 · 09/01/2019 21:18

Try having an ounce of their dignity.

DeloresJaneUmbridge · 09/01/2019 21:18

Lol....they are definitely NOT “in the lap of luxury” as some of you seem to believe. And they are child killers...the most hated people in the prison system.

thecatfromjapan · 09/01/2019 21:19

@*Imissgmichael Any evidence for that (correlation between 'positive towards idea of death penalty' and Vote Leave)? Do you realise how bigoted you sound?'

Lovey, she what you hear there is the sound of a fact, not bigotry. I'm sorry if it's not a note familiar to you.*

There is, indeed, evidence. Google the Ashcroft Referendum polls.

I thought everyone knew this by now.

DeloresJaneUmbridge · 09/01/2019 21:20

Birds do you mean Bellfield? If so he’s one of the few prisoners to have a whole life tariff. He will never be released except when he leaves in a wooden box..
