I've named changed for this.

In your opinion. Not listening to social media or hear say or stereotypes.

If you were to go on a date what would be the one job that would put you off?

I think my husbands would come in the top 3 😩😩😩.

It's not new we have been together 12 years but when I mention it on here no matter what the bloody subject is they use his job as the reason for my post!!!

@pfwow my DH has just started a job doing exactly that. He was working on smaller roads but he got a new job working on bigger ones, he's doing training this week and next week he has his first shift!

I've enjoyed some of the answers here. I think the 'drug dealer' 'pimp' etc. answers miss the point. They're criminal activities, not jobs in the normal sense of the word.

Interested whether some of the responses are because of ethical/political views, or practicalities. i.e against military jobs for reasons as being away for long periods etc, or because they are pacifists? Butchers because of veganism/animal rights etc, or because of the smell.

I'd also be interested in some of the posters ideas if a similar question was posed to males. And they said no to hairdressers because their mate knew one who had an affair, or checkout girls because its shit money, or strippers, they're all slags. That would be terrible, but it seems ok to slander entire professions on this thread!

Any armed forces or connected role
Police
Oil or arms industry
Finance/city type job
Tory/UKIP MP/any Tory/UKIP role
Bailiff/debt collector
BTL landlord
Estate agent
PIP/ESA assessor

There's probably more.

Ethel80 · 11/01/2019 11:07

@Everanewbie For me it's mainly about my values and my politics.

I'm not really interested in money in that I wouldn't personally compromise my values and ethics to earn more money and I wouldn't want a partner who would either.

I just don't find it attractive.

Everanewbie · 11/01/2019 11:16

Ethel80 that's a pretty extensive list!

What about an investment manager who works in the City, but specialises in ethical portfolios? Or a policeman that heads up anti fascist terrorism operations?

Of course we can be attracted to who we like, but you seem very black and white on a lot of very necessary occupations.

Shednik · 11/01/2019 11:21

Tory MP
UKIP anything
Pest control
Bailiff
Loan shark

Anything that involves exploiting the vulnerable or touching rats.

MuseumofInnocence · 11/01/2019 12:38

Anything involving rght wing views, including DWP lower workers

Eh? The DWP isn't staffed by right wingers!

ToffeePennie · 11/01/2019 12:41

The only thing for me would be uniformed services. Police, fire, prison officer, army, navy, raf, anything like that.
I grew up as an army brat and I always said I would never force myself into that kind of life again.

Ethel80 · 11/01/2019 13:27

@Everanewbie
I get that I've excluded a lot of occupations and I understand that some of them are necessary (not all of them) but I don't want to be in a relationship with someone who does them.

I wouldn't want to be involved with an investment banker or similar full stop.
