I've named changed for this.

In your opinion. Not listening to social media or hear say or stereotypes.

If you were to go on a date what would be the one job that would put you off?

I think my husbands would come in the top 3 😩😩😩.

It's not new we have been together 12 years but when I mention it on here no matter what the bloody subject is they use his job as the reason for my post!!!

OP posts:

Never really thought about it, but I suppose anything unethical, exploitative or illegal

Kemer2018 · 10/01/2019 14:52

Any type of sales, marketing or political position.
Bullshit, smoke and mirrors aka turd polishing.

Housingcraze · 10/01/2019 14:59

Cab driver with farm on the side!

RoboticSealpup · 10/01/2019 15:06

This is going to sound a bit weird but I could never date anyone in my own sector. I work in a charity organisation and I could never be attracted to any of the right-on woke brocialists I meet. I need someone who is not a male version of me, basically. (And that's what I've got, as DH is in a completely different field.)

LaurieMarlow · 10/01/2019 15:07

Posters on this thread are aware that charities, public services, government bodies, educational establishments, medical services employ marketing and advertising professionals, right?

Aquilla · 10/01/2019 15:11

Sooooo, a lot of Mumsnetters hate the military. There's a bloody surprise.
You should be bloody ashamed of yourselves.
Hold your head high, OP.

Toooldtocareanymore · 10/01/2019 15:13

Is each to their own , in a conversation with my gynaecologist once he told me his pet hate was, and could have nothing to do with was feet, that he nearly failed at becoming a doctor because of an ingrowing toe nail, and the worst bit of his job was being near naked feet, that when his wife was pregnant her feet were so swollen he couldn't look at them. I was at school with a girl who's dad was an undertaker but told us he was a bin man as she was embarrassed. my grandfather was a tax man I cant be against them. im trying to visualise the first date where your date admits to being a pimp or drug dealer?? me long term unemployed is what I couldn't hack

JacintaJones · 10/01/2019 15:15

Medical sales rep.

Madein1995 · 10/01/2019 15:18

Not necessarily a man thing but society in general ... I never admit in real life I work for DWP. Either they go all quiet as though I can't be trusted any longer and look surprised, or I get a long winded explanation of how they've been mistreated in the last. .

DWP is definitely seen as 'those people' and evil.

namechanger2019 · 10/01/2019 15:19

Bin man

PrickWhittington · 10/01/2019 15:20

Traffic warden.

Badtasteflump · 10/01/2019 15:37

A relative of mine was in the Marines. It changed him and not for the better. There seemed a comradery amongst them that wasn't exactly conducive to being married with a family. He cheated on his partner and we knew of many other people that did too. That would make me wary if anybody I cared about got involved with somebody in the forces now.

MepsiPax · 10/01/2019 16:00

If a man told me that he was a bailiff, my opinion of him would plummet instantly. I think someone who worked in an abattoir would come a pretty close second.

Yabbers · 10/01/2019 16:00

@steff13

I've always thought I should have married a plumber or an auto mechanic

Nope. Your own stuff never gets done because who wants to spend their time off doing what they do all week.

MepsiPax · 10/01/2019 16:00

Surprised at the posters who've said bin man!

ReaganSomerset · 10/01/2019 16:03

Right or wrong, I tend to do the lion's share of the laundry in my house. I can do without the smell of overalls/work outfits worn in a particularly smelly job (I have a very keen sense of smell, to boot).

Cazz81 · 10/01/2019 16:03

Someone on the dull/ unemployed/ lazy

flameycakes · 10/01/2019 16:09

Hit man for Frey bentos

grasspigeons · 10/01/2019 16:09

I think some sort of submarine person. Id be so worried if the person i loved spent weeks away under the water, especially if they wrre a target.

IJustLostTheGame · 10/01/2019 16:14

Debt collector.
Anything in the porn industry including strip clubs. Nasty.
Abbatoir worker; potential psycho.
Actor; too many twats and too much time away.
Anyone who works from home. I like my alone time.

FloralCup · 10/01/2019 17:52

I think living with a psychologist would be unsettling .... always worrying about your body language and fear of being analysed all the time.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 10/01/2019 17:59

I remember my psychology lecturer telling us in her first class that people oftwn seemed to think that psychologists were some type of mind readers and some acted weird around her at first.

pfwow · 10/01/2019 18:13

I would hate to me married to somebody who carries out repairs on the motorway when it's not shut, (so there are in a lane and the cars whizz past). Also, professional rugby player or American football player. I've told my kids they can't do any of those jobs, I'd be too worried.

hairypaws · 10/01/2019 18:15

Some who works in an abattoir- I just couldn't be involved.

lljkk · 10/01/2019 20:25
