Just that really, they are doing a trial and won't deliver anything in a bag. Not even a paper one. Don't really won't the delivery driver walking through the house so will have to take my delivery via the back door ConfusedBlush.

Maybe they could be like the Co-op who have made their 5p bags compostable caddy bags. I love those as at 5p work out cheaper than the bags on a roll I buy from Tesco.

nowifi · 08/01/2019 16:03

I always request no bags but they still give me plastic bags for the meat which I don't want and paper bags for the veg! I think it's great they are trying to cut them out all together.

Huffleypuff · 08/01/2019 16:04

They need a better solution for home deliveries. Half the time the drivers get pissy if you ask them to take it through to the kitchen and I can’t be unloading each item one by one to the hallway floor

ChristmasRaven · 08/01/2019 16:07

I love how everyone on this thread assumes everyone lives in a standard house! Some people's kitchens are not a few steps from their front door! I use Ocado as well as Tesco so will just use Ocado only if Tesco do that here. And yes I always return my Ocado bags the following week! In fact I give them the Tesco's ones too as they take any.

WindyWednesday · 08/01/2019 16:07

I don’t mind, but what bothers me is the delivery driver being cross because I’m taking too long to unpack. Also all my sanitary items sitting there and the delivery man watching me unpack them.

Mainly it’s the time it takes me to unpack and the driver getting cross. If things are delivered loose in crates they need to allow the driver more time to deliver.

Paper bags would be a good alternative. People in flats need to have a way of getting round this.

MrsElijahMikaelson1 · 08/01/2019 16:11

Ocado take it where you need to. They do use bags but take your old bags back each time and give you the money back too.

HalfBloodPrincess · 08/01/2019 16:11

Slightly annoying, as our council has just stopped supplying food waste bags and have asked us to use carrier bags instead for a new recycling scheme.

PumpkinKitty82 · 08/01/2019 16:12

Keep your own bags by your front door?? ...

JennyOnAPlate · 08/01/2019 16:12

It will make deliveries take much longer and lead to pissed off drivers I imagine. I have mine in bags and re-use the bags as bin liners and for used cat litter etc.

DoulaDaisy · 08/01/2019 16:12

Tesco in Ireland hasn't done home delivery with bags in a number of years. The driver comes in to the kitchen, what's the problem. They even help me unpack.

I'm sure they're well used to sanitary products, it's not like they're used. They're brand new in packaging. Get a grip.

BarbaraofSevillle · 08/01/2019 16:14

Maybe for regular delivery customers they could deliver the shopping in strong cloth bags that they charge a deposit for?

You can keep them or give them back at any time for a refund. Then it will be easy for the shopping to be delivered without having to empty the crates in the hallway or have the delivery driver traipsing through the house or going round the back unnecessarily.

SnappyFarter1987 · 08/01/2019 16:14

BarbaraofSevillle

so will have to take my delivery via the back door

I also sniggered!

Idbemonica1 · 08/01/2019 16:14

Yes I knew I was being unreasonable really. Will get used to my driver delivering to the backdoor ConfusedBlush (easiest option for kitchen). Just hope that as a company they will make other improvements too.

I love how the majority of poster assume that everyone

a - lives in the same style house as them
b- are able bodied and able to bend down and pack shopping into bags.
c- is happy to have the delivery driver traipse through their house

Abra1de · 08/01/2019 16:15

Bring trays to the door and unload onto them.

Arrowfanatic · 08/01/2019 16:15

I shop monthly, our poor delivery drivers usually have a dozen or so crates for us. They leave them at the door, i empty the crates into the lounge (if its non smashable/breakable i literally up end the crate & pour it out) as quickly as possible & then once the driver has gone on his way i remove stuff from the lounge into the kitchen & put away.

Its really not that difficult. Hmm

DoneLikeAKipper · 08/01/2019 16:16

Also all my sanitary items sitting there and the delivery man watching me unpack them.

Do you think the delivery man is going to recoil in horror at some shock unused Tampax?

Can you imagine the poor bloke getting back to depo - ‘Can’t deliver to Brooke Drive anymore boss, the lady there might be bleeding out her fanjo at some point. Honestly, if they just had carrier bags I would never had known!’.

Lovemusic33 · 08/01/2019 16:17

I never have bags, I use my own reusable bags (the big Tesco ones), unload the crates into the bags and then carry through to the kitchen once the delivery man has gone. It’s not that hard (not as much hard work as actually going shopping).

Littlechocola · 08/01/2019 16:17

I’ve never had mine delivered in bags. It’s such a waste! I keep a big basket in our porch and stick it in that.

Maryjoyce · 08/01/2019 16:17

Love the save the planet responses always a great fun side to read

Gigglebrain · 08/01/2019 16:18

YABVVVVVU. We need to take action NOW to save the planet.
Why on earth don’t you want the delivery driver in your house, that sounds very precious. If not, take the crate, unload it and return it to him.
Get a grip!

ClarabellaCTL · 08/01/2019 16:18

I always have bagless deliveries. I don't like the delivery driver coming into the house when I'm alone. I take my laundry basket and a couple of bags to the door and decant it. Job done. First world problem.

cjt110 · 08/01/2019 16:18

We always have bagless deliveries. The driver comes to our door, we take the crate inside, unload and return. Easy

Also all my sanitary items sitting there and the delivery man watching me unpack them. I ordered some lube last week (No.. I really did!) I must be going to hell....

Jebuschristchocolatebar · 08/01/2019 16:18

Are you for real? The population of Ireland have never been offered bagged deliveries from Tesco and in fairly sure no one has ever cared. We have had no plastic bags for well over ten years here. Driver brings it all in crates.

PuppyMonkey · 08/01/2019 16:18

Snurking about back door deliveries.

  • childish.
