Just that really, they are doing a trial and won't deliver anything in a bag. Not even a paper one. Don't really won't the delivery driver walking through the house so will have to take my delivery via the back door ConfusedBlush.

@Scarriff If you google shampoo bars, there are some really good ones that come in paper wrappers. I can highly recommend Schmidt deodorant too, which comes in a glass pot. The lime and bergamot is the most effective deo I've ever used and I'm a sweater!

Sorry to hijack!

HalfBloodPrincess · 10/01/2019 16:39

^ Seanik shampoo bar from Lush is the best one I’ve tried - it lasts ages, Makes my scalp flake free and I’ve found that I don’t have to wash my hair every day since I’ve used it.

Scarriff · 10/01/2019 16:44

Thanks. Will look. I hadnt heard of Schmidt. Now cleaning products recommendations too please?

MummyMayo1988 · 10/01/2019 17:59

Really?!

YABU! I don't have my food shopping delivered in plastic bags. I went to the supermarket and bought a load of 30p bags for life and I pack it all myself at the front door. It takes me literally 5 minutes and we are a family of 4 so always plenty of items. Honestly; I think your just being lazy 🙄

FairyMoppings · 10/01/2019 18:46

NRTFT but bravo Tesco! At last

I may start getting Tesco home deliveries again now they've stopped using plastic bags. It used to annoy me immensely at the vast amount of plastic bags any supermarket home delivery service would use for, so I stopped using this kind of service

We all need to be a little less selfish when it comes to the survival of our planet. We've fucked it right up already. It's time to start taking some responsible steps, in whatever small ways we can.

(will be RTFT later to make note of all the other handy eco-friendly suggestions!)

delboysskinandblister · 10/01/2019 18:52

nab a Tesco trolley and when he turns up and plonks it in you can wheel it all up to the hall. You risk never getting your trolley coin back though...

Whereisthegin1978 · 10/01/2019 19:14

I use Sainsburys and don’t have bags. Just have a couple of boxes to stack into if you don’t want someone coming into your house.
Our delivery comes into the kitchen and I just stack onto a worktop.

Teacher22 · 10/01/2019 22:20

I choose the bagless option for my Tesco’s delivery as I am not going to pay 40p charge for bags as I haven’t bought a bag since the ban.

In the bagless option fresh food comes packed in a red plastic bag, substitutions in a yellow and some other catagory comes in a green bag. I usually get about six of them and I use them and reuse them as freezer bags, bin bags and so on. They all disintegrate anyway so are pretty green.

Makes me laugh.

Teacher22 · 10/01/2019 22:21

Sorry, I meant ‘pay a charge...’

DisneyMillie · 10/01/2019 22:43

I use laundry baskets (I have two of the curved to hip type ones) to unpack into at the front door - it’s quick to do and easy to carry through to the kitchen

Carrotsandcauliflower · 10/01/2019 23:05

It would be great if all the supermarkets etc were forced by government to sell properly biodegradable packaging for everything. It should be manufacturers, distributors and shops that are taxed for not doing so, not consumers. So that if you want a bagged delivery, bag of apples, tray of whatever vedge you don’t have to worry about the negative impact. The amount of plastic packaging on my weekly shop is outrageous. I prefer bagged delivery, we are a big family and so is our weekly shop, but now I use reusable bags and go and get it myself.

ColdCottage · 10/01/2019 23:24

@MarilynSlumroe if you order loose veg then yes it does touch the crates which can be contaminated - see link I posted.

DeadCertain · 11/01/2019 07:26

By the time the loose veg touches a crate though it has touched (or been touched by!) lots of "contaminated" things. Putting it into a bag can't undo any of that.

notdaddycool · 11/01/2019 07:31

The amount of bags I get in my Tesco bagless delivery is insane, I’d welcome a truly bagless delivery, but each individual packet of meat is in one and some other stuff too.

Ocado take the previous weeks bags back with every delivery and knock 5p off the bill for every bag they get back. They also price match Tesco! Time for a change

Snugglepiggy · 11/01/2019 19:13

Yes Ocado do refund and take the bags back, and having tried other online supermarkets they are my preferred one.But they still have a long way to go.Still too much packaging and double wrapping. For that reason I order much less often and shop more locally -especially for fruit and veg where I can put it loose in the basket and have no plastic bags,or paper bags as in the farm shops.I do only work part time however, andappreciate theconvenience of a single shop factors into a lot of buying habits.
It amazes ,and depresses me ,the attitude if I say no bag please. Today in the chemist buying 3 items and parked outside it seemed to confound the assistant when I said I didn't need a bag.And in the bakers buying one bread roll I asked for it in a paper bag, which they have, and it still got put in plastic.Whilst lots of people are making a serious effort so many seem oblivious to the problem.

Pashal2 · 11/01/2019 21:36

So what does the delivery person do? Are they just holding jars and boxes of food, arm full of apples or bananas? Do they have to make multiple trips to the delivery vehicle?

this whole bagless thing is wrong on so many levels. food that was once bagged will be contaminated by other foods. sorry but I want my food, ALL foods that should be bagged, PUT INTO BAGS. I doubt very much that they clean those carry boxes they put all your food into every time they make a delivery. they should have really thought this through but apparently they want to con people into spending more and more money on rubbish like this.

ethelfleda · 09/08/2019 20:25

ZOMBIE THREAD!!!

ethelfleda · 09/08/2019 20:25

And, you’re an idiot.

mummysandwich · 09/08/2019 20:39

Not rtft but I use the giant IKEA bags to decant the crates at the front door. Works well for me!

sleepismysuperpower1 · 09/08/2019 20:53

just in case anyone else is having this issue, you can get crates like these, and put them by the door on delivery day like a PP said. then use them to carry shopping through x

ycjp01 · 10/08/2019 02:53

what is wrong with you people? I doubt very much that those containers they use to load your food are sanitized each time new food gets put in. plastic bags stop that. the planet has survived for many years even with these plastic bags. sorry but I don't want my food contaminated and neither should you. use your head people, unless you really don't care about your health.
