Aibu to be annoyed at Tesco forcing me to have bagless deliveries

Just that really, they are doing a trial and won't deliver anything in a bag. Not even a paper one. Don't really won't the delivery driver walking through the house so will have to take my delivery via the back door ConfusedBlush.

yes YABU. Are you kidding me? Have ylu been living in a cave? We are trying to STOP ALL plastic bags. Have you own big bags 4 life or collapsible crates at the ready. I wouldnt want a delivery man walking through my house either as I'd want shoes off but it's a pretty easily solved problem. Just have you bags / crate/ boxes at the ready.

Fowles94 · 09/01/2019 18:19

First world problem

MrsBombastic · 09/01/2019 18:32

Yes, YABU.

Find a system.

LostSoul69 · 09/01/2019 18:32

Just be grateful you actually get a supermarket delivery, we don’t. Nearest large supermarket is 3hr round trip, nearest small one is 1hr round trip!!! I wouldn’t care if the driver was naked too, oh to have my shopping delivered...now that would be luxury!!

a1poshpaws · 09/01/2019 18:35

I'd change supermarket - my bags are crucial to my overcrowded house, no room/time to put £100 groceries etc away as the driver brings them in. Also I recycle the bags as bin liners.

greenelephantscarf · 09/01/2019 18:38

yabu
get a crate or large bag(s) by the door as almost everone else has said or go shopping yourself

good on tesco!

tbh I can't wait for the charge to be higher and to include small shops. can't come soon enough!

ToftyAC · 09/01/2019 18:38

Yes, YABU

NannyJones · 09/01/2019 18:41

I just put everything in my laundry basket at the front door and drag it through.... 🤷🏻‍♀️

Pinkprincess1978 · 09/01/2019 18:44

We use Morrison's and have the opposite issue in that you can't choose NOT to have bags. We are now over run with carriers. I like the idea of crates - tomorrow we have Sainsbury's coming with no bags. Think I will get the plastic laundry baskets down and use them 👍

Op, you could always start and the door and fill your own carriers to bring the shopping in to the house?

EmeraldShamrock · 09/01/2019 18:45

It really is doable.
I think it is one of the smallest sacrifices we can make to help the planet.

You need actually need to pack the stuff away on delivery, you can sit it on the table or counter, there is not a huge difference to piles of bags of food on the counter or table.
Plus they deliver it in separate crates from cupboard, fresh and frozen so it is easier to put away.
Even supermarkets only sell heavy duty re-use bags at a good price to encourage re-use. It works

EmeraldShamrock · 09/01/2019 18:46

Meant you don't need to pack away immediately.

peachdribble · 09/01/2019 18:52

They break down so many boxes, why not ask for some of those?

fatimashortbread · 09/01/2019 19:19

I use the large ‘bags for life’; delivery driver turns up with the crates which they put in my hall, then they and I decant them into the bags. Driver leaves with empty crates I carry bags to kitchen and unpack. You are being unreasonable !

GabsAlot · 09/01/2019 19:20

i thinik its goin g to be a problem with disabled people or people with certain problems

and how do u prove it when u sign up online-they shold still give u the option as u wold if you were goin g to the shop yourself

shirleybanister · 09/01/2019 19:20

YABU 😉

acegod · 09/01/2019 19:22

the following option are available:
1 move to another supoermarket
2 stop moaning and get on with things?
3 leave a method of leaving the shopping outside ie suitcase, bags, or a box, or a empty bin which is not used,
4 get drunk and moan online on social media sites.
5 keep moaning here.

keeptheaspidistra · 09/01/2019 19:59

YABU. Is this a real question?

purplerainpitcher · 09/01/2019 20:09

I use a washing basket to carry my shopping basket up the stairs

Mikklehaha · 09/01/2019 20:25

This is just silly. Keep some bags by the door and pack the shopping into them as he delivers it.

pinkladyhannah · 09/01/2019 20:36

We have a set of collapsible crates that I set up at the front door before the delivery comes. It really helps as I can sort the shopping into categories; fridge, freezer etc and unpack it leisurely once they’ve gone.

Leapfrog44 · 09/01/2019 20:42

are you serious??

winniestone37 · 09/01/2019 20:42

You're ridiculous.

sayhellotothelittlefella · 09/01/2019 21:36

Ikea bags at the door - tip it all in - carry to the kitchen

FullOfDoom · 09/01/2019 21:37

I just take my out of the crate and put them in my reuseable bags which I have ready by the front door.

bubblegumunicorn · 09/01/2019 21:49

We never get bags with ours I usually just unload at the front door and then take things through to the kitchen in handfuls it’s pretty quick if you get everyone to pitch in we’ve been doing this since 2013 as they used to give out clubcard points for no bags and it’s not been an issue in any house we’ve lived at!
