These - ghastly items of clothing look terrible on just about everyone.

looks a bit chilly. like those toe boots I hated then about 15 years later I've warmed to them.

OutPinked · 10/01/2019 14:24

I wear similar trousers pretty much every day, they are my work attire but I also like them in my own time. I own approx six pairs in different colours/styles. Sooo comfortable and also smart.

The tops, on the other hand, completely get your point.

RosemarysBabyDress
The cold shoulder top has two hole things which allow the shoulders to poke through.

firef1y · 10/01/2019 14:30

I think cold shoulder tops look good on me, but there again I've worked very hard (think 2hrs a week lifting heavy things) on my shoulders so they in no way look like potatoes.

chocolatecoveredraisons · 10/01/2019 14:34

Cropped trousers or the wide leg/culotte trousers in your op are lovely. Therefore yabu.

Cold shoulder tops seem quite young to me so I wouldn't purchase any

AlaskanOilBaron · 10/01/2019 14:37

No doubt the cold shoulders would look far better on someone who has defined arms, but they're still fussy/complicated/pointless and you could better show them off by a camisole + cardigan.

Sparklingbrook · 10/01/2019 14:39

I don't think it's about what your arms look like. Why would you want your shoulders sticking out of your clothes? It's kind of 'Look at my shoulders!' er why?

GobblersKnob · 10/01/2019 14:48

I look good in both. But you are free to not like either. YABU to call cold shoulder top 'potato tops' though, as not everyones skin will give that impression. HTH.

Racecardriver · 10/01/2019 14:50

Cropped trousers are great though. They are the only way women look good in strousers without massive heels.

Racecardriver · 10/01/2019 14:51

Potato tops (love it) are a bit common though aren’t they? They make me think of britishvreality tv stars.

firef1y · 10/01/2019 15:08

@Sparklingbrook
Because I work bloody hard to make shoulders look like they do. And cold shoulder works for me because after losing 10stone I have excess skin, meaning the rest of my upper arm doesn't look as good, despite being just as muscular. For me, personally the cold shoulder with a fairly tight sleeve (no choice with most tops being tight sleeved as no allowance in normally made for having actual biceps), looks fantastic.

Sparklingbrook · 10/01/2019 15:15

IMO either a sleeve or no sleeve. No random holes with bits poking out in odd places, especially shoulders.

DaysOfCurlySpencer · 10/01/2019 15:57

'On trend' - I have to copy everyone else regardless of how unattractive it looks.

'Fashionable' - attractive to look and and with my own style but not out of date.

Those cropped trousers look as if they have been designed to do the gardening in, so that the hems don't drag in the mud.

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe2726 · 10/01/2019 16:31

I've only clicked on one link and personally do not like that grey tweed coat; I don't think it's 'fabulous' at all. Some will like it, some won't.

We all have different tastes and that's fine because nobody is the arbiter of taste, however much they might believe themselves to be so.

katekat383 · 10/01/2019 17:53

Good gracious, you don’t have to like it! Lol

katekat383 · 10/01/2019 17:57

NOBODY is “the arbiter of taste”?!?! Are you really sure about that? Take a few minutes to think about it...

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe2726 · 10/01/2019 18:20

Goodness me you're patronising. If you didn't understand what I meant you need only have asked.

You, I, anybody else, don't decide what is the epitome of 'good taste'. It's a personal opinion, nothing more. You certainly don't determine whether other people have it or not.

My gran was as outspoken as you and she would have called you a 'fashion victim' wanting to wear an undertaker's coat. I just don't like the coat, it doesn't make me judge you because you do.

katekat383 · 10/01/2019 21:01

Undertakers wear black coats, surely?

katekat383 · 10/01/2019 21:01

I have one of those too - but you would probably think it was patronising! 🤣

katekat383 · 10/01/2019 21:04

Is this more your thing?

Now now, undertakers are far more stylish than that grey thing Grin

FaceLikeAPairOfTits · 10/01/2019 21:19

Surely nobody has ever called them potato tops ever?

@AnotherPidgey I have short muscular legs too, what do you put yours in?

Bagadverts · 10/01/2019 21:21

Cold shoulder tops and cropped trousers look dreadful on me. There are people who can carry them off. Not as many for cold shoulder but I have a friend going through the menopause who said they were great because she wore layers and got an immediate cold blast when she git to the cold shoulder layer during a hot sweat.

BusterGonad · 11/01/2019 03:26

Kate I'm not having a go, but we can all post pictures of our fav celebrity, it's not really a true vision of what YOU wear! I mean I think Kate Moss can look amazing but my wardrobe is nothing like hers!
